We've been going to Szechuan Express for years and it's always tasty and well made, whether you do dine-in or takeout. The owners/servers are always so friendly and make sure you are happy with your meal (when dining in) and package up your food extra well (when picking up to-go orders). Ambiance-wise, it's pretty classic - with a fish tank, green carpet that matches the green chairs, and really cool art on the walls that works with the vibe of the fish tank. Our go-to dishes are Peanut Butter Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken. The chicken is always high quality, not stringy or chewy like some chicken dishes can be, especially in takeout meals. I am a huge fan of sauce in general, so anything I order at any establishment has to have some kind of sauce on it - and Szechuan is great about this. Everything is always very saucy, but not to the point that it makes any of the breaded items soggy. They must use a batter that works perfectly with their sauces, making it both not too gloopy and not too crispy! Their soups are also great, and I do the trick of asking for a mixture of the Egg Drop Soup and Hot and Sour Soup, making it a good mix of eggy and spicy. Aside from the soup mixture, another thing I will note - make sure to ask for fried rice if you want that, otherwise the standard rice if you don't specify will be steamed vs. fried. Lastly, we always get the Peanut Butter Cookies as a little treat at the end of the meal. They taste sort of like the delicious burned edges of a sugar cookie. Yum! As far as Chinese restaurants go in Omaha, Szechuan Express has always been and is still an excellent choice!

In a time when it's become harder and harder to find a sit down/dine in Chinese restaurant, we came across the Szechuan Express. This location offers takeout as well, and was doing a brisk business. Conveniently located at Omaha's crossroads of Dodge and S 114th St., the Szechuan Express is a hidden gem. Not very fancy, but clean and great service, and more importantly, outstanding food makes this a place to stop. We enjoyed some of their soups, along with peanut butter chicken, Mongolian beef, and one of the most outstanding versions of moo shu pork we have ever tried. The price is extremely economical and portions are offered in both single and family size. All food is made fresh to order and prices are unbelievably economical. Free parking is available in the adjacent lot. You must check out this restaurant for some authentic Chinese cuisine in Omaha.

I wouldn't say this is the best Chinese food I've ever had, but for the speed, friendliness, and proximity to my office, I've become a frequent customer. Where else can you get a full meal - soup, entrée, and crab rangoon - for under $15 and under 45 min!? So far, my favorite dish is the cashew chicken. Tried the peanut butter chicken and it was way too much sauce for my liking. They are always friendly and quick!

Triple Delight. Delightful indeed. Ask for it spicy

Great American style Chinese food. Mom and pop type of place where they remember what you ordered last time. Clean. Fast. Delicious.

I've been going here for the last 15 years and it's still as good as it was then! The egg rolls and hot and sour soup is amazing!

Ate here the other day and it was underwhelming. Crab Rangoon was stale and Sesame chicken was so sweet I couldn't eat it.

I threw my cashew chicken away and ate cereal for dinner. Slimy chicken and over cooked vegetables! Will never visit this place again!

Very little crab flavor, and its texture was damn near close to ricotta cheese but they were DELISH! Anyone else save the corners for a little texture in their next dish? No? Just me? Yall, I am telling you... their Peanut Butter Chicken was PHENOMENAL, and definitely have some real peanut on board. MUCH appreciated that. Their breading to chicken was by far, near perfection. More protein than breading is always a win-win in my book... it was like little puffs of breading, versus cakey/battery. Comes with your choice of steamed or fried rice, egg drop soup or hot and sour soup. Their Hot and Sour was SO good, with just the right amount of tofu. Highly recommended either honestly. Now the Sesame Chicken? Dare say I should've gotten that dish? It too, was AMAZING. Especially with those warm green peppers, onion, rich brown sauce that has just the right amount of garlic that made me ask kindly, with doey eyes, for a second piece off my husbands plate. SO good! We brought home a good amount for left overs tomorrow; assuming they last till midnight... We must've gotten in at the right time, because she was BUSYYYY with maybe 3 of the 15 (I could be completely off!) tables. Staff didn't just stick to one table, they were definitely tag teaming and that was neat to watch them work so well. We got checked on a few times and they're attentive as heck! We will DEFINITELY be back to try some of that Garlic Chicken and Cashew Chicken, extra cashews.

Both entrees were delicious. Authentic Kung Pao Chicken is the same as Chinese American Kung Pao Chicken except they use dark meat. That dark meat was so tender and moist! You must have their hot & sour soup. I think it's better than I've had in SFO or LA Chinatown. Go!

Heard from a Chinese Food influencer, and I whole heartedly agree, Chinese restaurants should have a 3 - 3.5 star rating. Raters should talk about the "rude" service, but talk about the good food.
