Came here last week in the afternoon. Good looking, slightly minimalist bar with a super chill vibe and even better music play list. I really liked the pricing options on the beer as it allows for tasting many different beers without shelling out a lot of dough. The beer menu is extremely solid. The bar snacks that we ordered were the flank salad and some king of smoked fish on rye. Both were extremely delicious with super clean favors. If I didn't live out of town I would be here all the time. It's absolutely a unique bar experience for the city. read more

Haute couture beer bar. The attention to detail, from the inlaid wood walls, tables and ceiling to the playful Hobbit door leading to Luksus, the Michelin starred restaurant in the back is all on point. The custom nitro/co "brain" allows the perfect pour for every beer on tap. It also looks the Flux Capacitor from Back to the Future. The selection is unique, the staff extremely knowledgable and the music excellent. Voted by many to be the best beer bar in the country and I heartily agree. read more

Such a pretty bar! The BF and I tried some unique beers and loved every single one of them. The burger was also excellent, like an upscale Shake Shack burger. It was relatively empty and chill on the late Saturday night we came but I think that's because it was the weekend after July 4 and many people were probably out of town. This is the best beer bar I've ever visited no doubt about that. Their beer selection is amazing, the beers they get from Evil Twin Brewery are exemplary beers in their style. The Lil B imperial porter and the Yang imperial stout are both amazing beers at a reasonable $6 for a10oz pour. The environment is typical for a beer bar in Brooklyn but the bartenders here are more knowledgeable about beer than most. I always have a good time when I visit here and can say with confidence that it's the best bar I've ever visited. read more

Fantastic - we spent eight days in NYC and this was the only place we came back to repeatedly. One of the best places to get a beer in all of New York City. The bar has a beautiful design. Also, the beer list is constantly changing and has the freshest craft beers. And they only put beers on the list that satisfy true beer geeks, you won't find any corporate beers on there. The bartenders are really nice and knowledgable, and will tell you everything you want to know about their beers. The prices aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for: freshest, high quality beers. Tip: go on a weekday or during the day (or very late). Gets pretty crowded in Friday and Saturday nights, it seems to be a "pre-game" spot more than a destination, as it usually thins out around midnight. read more

Popped in here to check this place out, It was my first time there, and I loved it ! I had a beautiful Wheat beer and the fried onions and the smoked trout. I loved the smoked trout!!!! The design of the space is clean and cozy, the glass wear is super cute and the staff was knowledgeable and approachable, the clientele seemed jovial. Very dark in here! Started off rap music then transitioned to gary numan, maybe two waiters had competing music interests. We had some good beers and interesting mead. All the drinks are served in the same custom wine glasses. Sit on the seats not the bar. Quite hipster! read more

I've been here several times and have always enjoyed myself. I felt inclined to write a review tonight because my bartender Ryan's service was impeccable! We brought my girlfriends mom in for some small bites and delicious beer (beer list is one of the best in the city) and had a great time. We were patiently and knowledgeably guided through the menu as well as the draft list. Both the food and the beer was so good. I feel like it would be easy to act pretentious with such a great product, but everyone was incredibly friendly. I'll definitely be back to try the tasting menu in the back. Thanks Ryan! read more

Three Words...BELIEVE THE HYPE! I'd been hearing about Torst for years but I finally got the chance to come last week. I walked in and checked out the menu. I was a little intimidated because every single beer is as a rare as Unicorn Tears. I finally gave up and told the bartender to just bring me 3 samples of his favorites. He didn't even blink an eye and came back with a trio of amazing brews. This opening salvo turned into 2 hours of one of the most amazing malt experiences I've had. Before coming to Torst I couldn't understand why anyone would order a bottle at a place with a great draft list...but this place made me a convert. Graham is one of the best Beer-tenders around and brought out one amazing bottle after another. This place isn't just one of the best beer bars in NYC/Brooklyn. It's one of the best in the nation. Ideal beer selection, ideal atmosphere.

This place is great! I like to stop by late afternoon, when it's not too busy and you can talk to the bartender about the different styles and take your time drinking. The ambiance is a little sterile; I wouldn't go here to hang out with a group. But it's fun to go with just one or two other people and geek out on beer. read more

Torst has a fantastic atmosphere, as it reminds me of a post-modern era. Beer selection is out of this world, lots of Evil twin microbrews and tastings are available. When we were there a couple of weeks ago the crowd was small but grew as the night went on but never got too crowded. If you have a chance to eat in the back, take it! Food is prepped and served in a cozy environment and the wait staff is great. 5 stars for food quality as well. Only 3 stars because the bar staff in the front room wasn't the best. We were there for 2-3 hours and it was a challenge anytime we needed a refill on a drink. It seemed like they were actively ignoring us, even though we were sitting right at the bar and despite the fact the place was not that full. Stay away of you dont like beer as well, since they don't serve much else. But their great selection might make you a beer lover anyway. read more

It's a great neighborhood bar offering a wide selection of beers. Only steps from the Nassau Ave G stop, this little bar is a hidden gem. Without knowing it was there, one could easily walk right by it. The exterior is quite plain and unassuming, but what it lacks in exterior, it makes up for in it's beer selection in it's interior. Really nice selection of brews for those who always like to take a chance and try something new. I tried "Dinosmores" which was very rich, creamy like Guinness, and actually tasted a bit like smore ingredients. I also tried "Shower Beer" which I do think would taste great during a summer shower. Went back again, saw that most beers were 10 bucks or more. Cheapest beer over 4.5 ABV was Aventinus is 9 bucks for less than a pint. Is the 14 oz "pint" really necessary? Do you really need to skimp me on 2 oz for a beer that you're already charging more than any other bar in the neighborhood for? Left again without buying a beer. Most beers are priced around $1-1.50 dollar an oz. Think about that for a second. Seems to be trying to taking advantage in its old age (4 months?) and overestimating the wallets of those in the area. Place is always empty for a reason. read more

Go for the beer, but don't bother with the food. The beer selection is obviously pretty good, but $16 for a burger that - to my amazement, I have to admit - came without fries, salad, a pickle or any other kind of basic accompaniment is absurdly overpriced. This is Evil Twin/Jeppe's answer to MikkelerBAR only in New York instead of Copenhagen, Bangkok, or San Francisco. Came with my entire NYC beer nerd group for a Saturday afternoon. Secret, unassuming white door is your entrance. Could easily pass by without knowing it was here. Interior is clean, simple, woodwork and white. Long bar with a long mirror displaying the tap list on handwritten white marker. All tap beers served in stemmed wine glasses, smaller 8oz pours and larger 12+ oz pours. Prices were reasonable up to $8 per pour. Selection is a case of quality over quantity: Probably 20 taps but excellent diversity with focus on Evil Twin of course, Belgian, other Danish beers. Tap list when I was there was lacking in American beers but no matter. Keg rotation here is quick with no stale keg backlog. Special edition one-off stuff on tap that you will never find anywhere else like Port BA Even More Jesus, Gin Barrel 1809 Berliner. Bottle list is insane with some items not officially for sale. Food plates were cured meats, Danish rugbrod, pickled vegetables, olives. All very high quality, perfect for beer pairing. It is clear that Jeppe knows exactly what is needed when trying a flight of different specialties beers. The restaurant in the back I did not get to try on this visit. Very cozy, clean, happening place. Was very crowded and hopping at 3-4pm on Saturday and I'm sure continued like that until close. Service was quick, on the ball, understood all of our crazy orders, clearly well-trained. Did not make me wait for more than 1-2 minutes for an order despite the large crowd. Had the great privilege to chat with Jeppe 1 on 1 for about 15 minutes. Pretty amazing experience. Even got to meet Elliot! read more

my boyfriend is a crazy beer fanatic and loves to try weird things you cannot find elsewhere. as other reviews mention, this is definitely the spot for that. we went on a weekend so the vibe was a little intense - almost felt weirdly clubby/douchey but i could just be getting old. there weren't many girls there either I noticed (so maybe this is a good place to meet dudes?) at one point there was even like frat boy invasion (bachelor party perhaps). we were lucky to score a spot at the bar and this is where things got really good because i was pleasantly surprised by the amazing service - attentive super friendly bartenders who seemed like they wanted to be there. and they even gave us a free beer! also, there are totally normal priced beers on the menu too if you aren't looking to spend a lot of money - and some beers might be way pricier but they also have a higher alcohol content - duh - so you dont need as much. my boyfriend split 6 minis (kind of a beer tasting if you will) and later passed out with all the lights on watching the daily show. it was a good night! read more

As a native to Scandinavia I was very excited when this place opened. Stylish decor, great atmosphere and excellent array of beers on tap. However we tried out their Sunday roast and were very underwhelmed by not only the food but the service or lack of rather. I was excited to try out their restaurant Luksus but after sampling their lamely presented raw pork roast, I think i'll give it a miss. This place could be amazing and to give them benefit of the doubt, it may have just been an off day. read more

I've been going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. Selection was 5 star excellent. I love Evil Twin beers and there were probably 7 or 8 on tap. The decor and feel were really cool. I liked the glasses and the architecture. My complaint would lie with the bartender. Service was OK, but with only 3 people in the bar you would think the service would be excellent. He was kind of a beer snob, but at the same time didn't really want to discuss the beers, and had a "better than you" kind of attitude. The bar was good enough to warrant another visit to see if it was just an off day. read more
