Terrific Brooklyn based brewery in Greenpoint to enjoy a craft beer. Good selection of their special brews - Flagships, other drafts on tap, bottles and cans. Specializes in lagers and hop forward ales. They also offer wine, cocktails, ciders/sours, and non-alcoholic selections. Overall fairly priced. Plenty of seating inside and outside for when the weather is nice. Clean bathrooms. There is also a small eatery here, Grand Army, where you can order food which is brought to where you're seated - snacks, sandwiches, greens/salads, burgers, chicken, and even a kids menu. Oh, and it is kid friendly here during afternoons such as when I was here yesterday, and saw parents with their kids in tow. I sat at the bar area and enjoyed a tasty Greenpoint Standard house lager. A clean and refreshing brew. Also had a tasty burger and fries. Well my buddy and I all over town this week for good beer. Came here shortly after opening today. We have met strangers that became friends at other bars, gotten numbers from bartenders and patrons to trade beers etc. We asked a bartender what a fellow patron was drinking because it looked good. The response we got was a rude idk. I'm not a complainer. But get yourselves friendly caring staff. We immediately walked out and went to another brewery. You also might want to have signs that you can order beer at the coffee bar before 3. The only sign we saw was bar was closed. Pretty bad business practices all around. Enjoyed my first time coming here. Simple, no frills dining with plenty of room indoors and outside. We selected beers from a variety of craft offerings and we brought them to our table. Then we ordered and paid for our Gotham Burger food which was brought to our table when ready. The smash burgers were quite good. Steve and I had the beer from Threes Brewing once again after quite a bit of passage of time from our last experience with them. We always thought that their beer was solid and this latest experience was no exception to that in the slightest. We had the Super Vliet which was a dry hopped pilsner that proved to be very refreshing and enjoyable. Flavor features to expect from this beer are a clean aftertaste, hoppy, crisp and a nice presence of an apple flavor. The beer is bright in color to visually compliment the flavor profile. Cool spot. Came here for their partnership with Gotham Burger. The burger was phenomenal, but the first order of fries came out totally cold. That said, they happily replaced them. We saw Threes Brewing on a list for top burgers in the city! We came here on a Thursday evening and the ambience was soooo cute. It was dimly lit, cozy, and each table was candle lit. There were plenty of tables open so we snagged a cozy corner one. It felt like we were in a private dining area! While there were only two waiters outside the bar staff, the service was phenomenal. We both got 16oz pours (Vliet and What's the Point). The vliet was a Pilsner and the What's the point was a hazy ipa. We got Buffalo wings to share as an appetizer and two smashed burgers. All the food came out PIPING hot! The wings were delicious in the Buffalo sauce. Cooked perfectly, crispy, and not too saucy. Now onto the burger... we love burgers with sesame buns and that's why we went with the smashed burger! We debated getting a double Patty of bacon, but decided not to. The smashed burger was delicious. It came with a homemade "Big Mac" sauce with a little kick to it. Sooooo good wow. I already can't wait to come back for another burger. Came here for dinner with a friend. I had always passed it and it always looked busy, so we decided to give it a go. This isn't a traditional restaurant. You go in and there's no host stand or anything (there isn't any signage to explain this). It's basically open seating. You go order your food at one station and there's the bar you go to to order drinks (you pay separately for your food and drinks). After you pay for your food, you're given a number and place the number on your table and someone will bring your food out. The drinks were good - I think that's what they are known for. I found the music to be kinda loud, so it can be difficult to hear sometimes. I don't think this is a bad place, but the process is initially confusing. There's no signage to explain how to order (or at least I didn't see any). read more

As soon as we took our seat she greeted us and asked if we had any questions. She showed us the sour beers on tap and also canned ones. This place is super fun when you have a great bartender. We were on the quest for sour beers and we totally found it. We were also shown to the area of the brewery where they sell cans! The look and feel of this place felt rustic and woody! Maybe cause there's tons of wood everywhere haha. There is a food area where you can sit as well. We personally are sit at the bar type people. I definitely need to come back here to try their food. Stopped in here to try a pop-up for Gotham City Social Club, which is one of the first concepts I saw making smashburgers a few years back. The burger did not disappoint. It's like if McDonald's or Steak N' Shake woke up one day and decided to make delicious food. Overall, I loved the West Coast IPA at Threes Brewing, definitely could see myself chilling here and enjoying more beers in the future, but they need more TVs to show football, which was the main reason I left to another bar since I was trying to catch the game. The bartender here was friendly and the beers were fairly priced. I would go back. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside as well. This is a large, popular neighborhood bar. On the Saturday I went, it attracted a late 20s to late 30s crowd. Lots of options for beer and cider lovers. They also have a short cocktail menu. I enjoyed the Too Soon. It was very light and fizzy and I liked the stick of fresh cinnamon. I'm not a huge ginger fan, but that flavor didn't overpower the drink. Their fries look basic and unassuming but were actually nice and crispy. Great to munch on with our drinks. Definitely ask for a side of mayo to take them up a notch. Our server was friendly. The Greenpoint satellite location for the small Brooklyn brewery operates more like a gastropub and one with ample seating, both indoor and outdoor. Some of the outdoor seating on the side walk was a little weird which was where we sat. However, it was a prime and thereby enjoyable spot for people watching and quelled some of the feelings of envy for those posted up nearby under the sturdy covered patio. We ordered just three tasters a la carte, two hazy IPA's and a stout. Nothing very noteworthy about the IPA's, just a little thin and too fruity. The stout, on the other hand, was a breath of fresh air from a world wrought with pastries with its smooth, roasty character. Service was slow and the place, for the size, just seemed understaffed. Wasn't that late but some guy that works there with a yellow sweater just randomly leans across the bar while my friend is ordering beer to tell us "guys, it's too late for a baby to be at the bar". My baby was enjoying the atmosphere after being inside the entire day because of the weather. Wouldn't take issue if he had delivered the message another way like, "music might be too loud for the baby" or something similar. We're a big fan of Threes Brewing original location in Gowanas - we've sat out front, in the back, inside, in the coffee shop area during the day, brought our dog, ordered pitchers with visiting fam, ordered snacks, main pull is always the beer and environment... But the GP location is a whole other ballgame. We've been once before, once again for some beers before going out for dinner. But last night was a disorganized mess. We got there about 630pm, grabbed a street-side table outside with the unseasonably warm weather. There were 3 dirty but available tables under the covered seating, and 4 available square tables on the street. A lovely server came, brought us water, took our order, and while we waited, lots of people started arriving and asking about reservations, complaining about hour wait times. I want to preface - there were 7 open tables outside, a million inside, not host stand outside, no reserved table signs, and QR menu codes on every table. Per usual, we did not ask to be sat, we just found a table. This is a brewery. Gowanas is complete open seating. Meanwhile this location had groups of 4 waiting an hour while there were 7 open tables outside. No server said a single thing to us saying that was not permitted, and as we weren't the only patrons who did this, perhaps leading to the wait for the other patrons. But they too should've been able to grab one of the many open tables, particularly as some were never filled during our 2 hours there. Question being, reserved for who? We had a fine time during our 2 rounds of beer, but everyone around us was non-stop complaining about the wait, the service, and one table caused enough of a ruckus that the GM had to address them out for their treatment of the servers. From our point of view, they sounded upset that they had to wait an hour for a table when others were being sat immediately or just grabbing a table (like we did, although we witnessed others do the same). Around 8pm they brought a host stand outside and added "reserved" signs to tables, but plenty of tables were open at that point and foot traffic was slow. I guess that was to guide patrons to the now-visible host stand and deter open seating, albeit hours late. Point being - if this location wants to have a different system than Gowanas, they need to do a better job of making it known, particularly with signage. This is a brewery first, restaurant second. Most tables didn't even order food. I don't understand why they are trying to enforce a "please wait for a host" instead of traditional brewery-style open seating. The frustration in the air from other patrons really made it hard for us to enjoy ourselves. We plan on sticking with their other location going forward. read more

Threes is one of the better brewery bars to visit. This location is more chill than their other one and the other ones in the area, and they always have a nice selection to choose from. The barrel aged beers is my picture are a couple of great examples. I also love the wandering bine, but it's priced much higher to stay than to go. During covid they have some tables outside, which you might be able to tell from the picture. Also pictured is the hummus they offer to cover the food requirement, which is good, even if the bread they serve it with leaves a lot to be desired. We got the lobster bisque (4/5), a basket of fries (3.5/5), and the scallop special (3.5/5). The scallop special was literally 6 pieces of fried scallop in a basket with tartar sauce and it cost $22... Decent beers, a good outdoor space to hang out with friends, but still spacious on the inside. The service is actually really good! Staff comes out to check on you quite frequently, and they're very accommodating. When I was there last, it got a little chilly for my friend, and we asked to move inside. Staff was extremely accommodating and let us move tables. When we finally were ready to leave, our waiter got us the bill and had us double check to make sure it was right--since we moved from outside, they transferred our earlier drinks to this bill and he was shocked there were a couple more rounds on the bill. I appreciated the due diligence though. Anyway, for drinks, I tried the Vliet and the What's the Point (yeah I'm at that point in my life). I liked both of them, but that's personal preference. We came here for lunch on a Saturday, and had a nice, relaxing, and tasty time here. The space is nice and welcoming, with lots of wooden fixtures and lots of lights. That Saturday it was pretty empty, which was good as we have a small baby and always worry about us bothering other patrons. At that time there was another family with young kids, and a couple of other patrons at the bar, but overall it was nice and quiet. This being a restaurant run by a brewery, I got to taste a few beers: - Tyranny of Mirrors; NYS wheat pale ale (I gave it 3.75 stars on Untappd) - Wandering Bine (Blend 8); foundre-fermented saison (3.75 stars) - Entropy Reigns Supreme; triple IPA (4.50 stars) I also bought a bottle of Eternal Return: Cabernet Sauvignon (2016 Harvest), a rather delicious American wild ale (4.5 stars). We also tried some food, although to be honest I don't remember what we had. I remember it was tasty, though! In short, a great place to enjoy some tasty brews and good food in a welcoming, relaxing environment. Staff was a bit slow and understaffed but no problem, they had a projector on with football so we enjoyed a slow drink and the vibes. Crowd is mostly locals it appears given Greenpoint isn't the most accessible from Manhattan so perhaps you'll enjoy the lack of B&T. The tuna melt was A+ exquisite. This is the best burger in Greenpoint. I have tried them ALL. I have the supermodel body to prove it. It is the best. The Greenpoint Burger is very filling. The burger is better than most of the pricy burgers I've eaten in New York. Fries are delicious. The ceviche is great. The blue fish toast has a pleasant bologna flavor. I hear from a friend that blue fish is the worst fish from a guy from a fishing town. Very tasty to me though. Tomato salad was a little too tart and acidic and needed other stuff on it. We popped into Threes impulsively after reviewing the neighborhood options and eliminating our choices as too casual (a slice to go?) or too much of an ordeal (a 90 minute wait?). For a Friday night out in Greenpoint, Threes was our Goldilocks bar and bite destination. Threes shoestring fries were served with a spicy mayo (a paprika aioli?) to accompany their burger. In the best possible way, they fries are exactly as you'd imagine and what you'd want with a very tasty main - for the side man to not distract or overpower from the star. Not over seasoned with salt, but the dip was a welcome change from the usual ketchup or plain mayo that we've come to expect. It is a delicate achievement for fries to be independently satisfying in their own right whilst balancing and accompanying the flavors of our main. Like Threes itself, this serving of fries is an unpretentious and casual affair that shows quiet confidence with its restraint and knows exactly what it is and what it's here to do. read more

Came here with a page out of the Brooklyn Pub Pass. For 5 o'clock on a Friday, this place was really packed! Thankfully there were a few tables tucked away in the back that were available. The menu was basically all brews from Three's Brewing, except for a few "friends' cans" as they call it, and some select cocktails. We went with the Half Truth first which was orange in color and bitter in aftertaste. It was drinkable but not a favorite. Then we tried the Voluntary Exile, which was definitely an interesting mix of flavors. You can taste the brisket rub that's incorporated into the beer, which was a first for me. Lastly, we had the What Might Have Been, which was the most balanced, and enjoyable of them all. It's definitely a more traditional beer. We weren't able to try any of the food because the kitchen was closed due to a private event. Once the time came around, we were escorted to another space that they had upstairs. It was much more intimate and quiet, although this bar had a more limited menu. The service was awesome on both floors. The prices were surprisingly good! I would return. read more

We recently had our wedding at the Threes Brewing Greenpoint location and it was amazing. The venue at night is beautiful with the large windows in the front. The wood throughout the venue made the pictures look amazing. Alyssa kept everything organized and made us feel comfortable the entire time. At one point before the wedding we realized we had not eaten and she went into the back and made us a small sandwich. Way above and beyond. We had family and friends from all over and many said it was one of the best dinners they have ever eaten ever. We were extremely stressed leading up to the event but Alyssa also had suggestions on what previous couples had done as far as guest books, card boxes and music. The bartenders were also great and even signed our guest book. If you are planning a somewhat low key wedding in a beautiful space (and delicious beers), this is the place. read more

Stopped by February 2, 2019 for a friend's super informal celebration of his engagement. We originally met at Ramona, a swanky looking cocktail bar next door, but the bride and groom to be did not make reservations and it was too packed so our group migrated to Threes @ Franklin & Kent. Turned out great because this place has a room to the left of the entrance that allows for intimate group gatherings. We were likely about 40 people comfortably flowing in an out of the room, but it could probably have held about 50 standing guests packed like sardines. Three's caters all of their food from Purslane, an established Brooklyn caterer with an ingredient-driven, sustainability-minded, slow food mentality. I had the grass fed beef burger $12, which comes with a choice of either french fries or simple salad. I chose the salad. For +$1 you can add caramelized onions. +$2 and you can add cheddar cheese, sunnyside egg, or bacon. It was your average burger and the spring mix salad was simple as can be. More food came out later because the bride's mother generously ordered vegetarian shareables. $4 sweet and salty mixed nuts were primarly peanuts but was fantastic on the rare occasion you caught a walnut or cashew. $6 pickled seasonal veggies consisted of cold cauliflower, onions, carrots, and could have used a bit more tang. $10 falafel bites with harissa yogurt dip were decent. $7 fries with spicy mayo were good primarily because of the tasty spicy mayo. $11 mac n cheese with cheddar, smoked gouda, garlic breadcrumbs came out only warm, as if they barely managed to reheat it. It could have used a lot more time in the oven. $14 pita and dip platter consisted of hummus (bland), beautiful beet tahini (refreshing and topped with wonderful hazelnuts--this was the best dip!), and eggplant baba ghanoush topped with an olive or two. There were a ton of beers on tap but my companion chose Table Beer, a Belgian Saison style beer brewed by Mystic Brewery in Chelsea, MA. It was light and pleasant enough that he ordered another of the same later on in the evening. Servers and bartenders were attentive as can be when handling our larger group. Decent Greenpoint bar if you're already in the neighborhood, would definitely not go out of my way to get to. For food, you're better off walking the few blocks over to Paulie Gee's slice joint. read more
