A birthday cake was ordered for a 90th Birthday celebration. A 1/4 sheet cake comprising of sponge cake and a single filler pineapple filling, and vanilla butter cream topping. What was provided was a double filling sponge cake with chocolate filling??? One observation from a guest was that the cake had tasted a stale taste. Opinion, however beyond the issue of stale, T&D Bakery didn't act on the bakery order until after Monday morning. and four days before pick up @ 5PM Thursday. The next day Friday, I went to T&D Bakery to give notice that what I had ordered was not delivered!!! I asked to speak with the bakery owner, who was not in that morning. I was promised a call back by a young woman a high end manicure. It's now Sunday and no one from T&D has called. Either no one is watching the back room bakery, or someone wanted to get rid of a 1/4 sponge cake that was sitting on the shelf somewhere with chocolate fillings, and hide it by passing it as what was ordered. Their cakes are good but I haven't had them in awhile. They have a good bread selection but are sometimes sold out depending on what time of day you come. My go to these days are the rainbow cookies (DELICIOUS). My cousins usually request these any time we have family gatherings. And their cannoli's! Not because I'm a personal friend of the family owned bakery, it's mainly due to the diversity of edible treats generated by this establishment that keeps me coming back for seconds (or thirds), sometimes on a daily basis. The 800 square foot store front plays home to some of the most classic Italian sweets and baked goods. Consumers frequently pay visitation to T & D either for their freshly baked Italian Bread or their traditionally well balance Black & White cookies as well as Cannoli. The owners Tina & Dominick are extremely friendly to customer inquiries and are willing to take customized orders for any special occasion. My splurges at this bakery are of course the Black & White Cookies. Unlike the ones produced by Rocco's, this subtle but, most importantly, well balance edible gives it's consumer a moist base cake layer which is then consumed by the solidified chocolate and vanilla topping. If Black & White Cookies aren't in your personal preference, try either the large Chocolate Chip Cookie or Rainbow Cookies. All produce a profound definition of their classical makes and provides for any consumer a satisfying treat. HELLA good cannolis! I wish we bought more but we were only in Brooklyn for a short time. The moment you walk in the bakery, DAMN. Everything smells so good and looks so good too. Only complaint is that the older lady who works there doesn't seem to like to greet customers when you walk in...then again it seems like people in New York don't like to say hello period. T&D has a nice selection of items for sure, but not everything looked that good or fresh. Maybe it was just that it was the end of the day, but for instance the pignoli cookies looked very old. I decided to play it safe and get like a third of a pound of rainbow cookies, while I spotted my friends for some filled pastries (forget what they were exactly). They loved their pastries, but I found the rainbow cookies to be pretty run of the mill. They were very thin, dry, and didn't have that much flavor. They weren't bad necessarily as I just wanted something, but not something worth bothering with next time as I have plenty of places that blow T&D out of the water. read more
