They have pretty much any Italian pastry you could want, from cannoli and sfogliatelle to Italian cookies, marzipan, rainbow cookies, and more. And don't worry about them running out of anything if you stop by later in the day. Even near closing time, they're still impressively well-stocked. The cannoli are exceptionally good, especially the chocolate shell. The rainbow cookies are another standout: always fresh, soft, and flavorful. They also come in different sizes, plus a crumble cake version, which is a fun twist on the classic. For St. Joseph's Day, they make what might be the best sfingi and zeppoli in New York. Prices are very reasonable, too. I regularly walk out with 8-12 pastries and have never spent more than $30. Their small box (which fits around 6-10 items depending on what you choose) goes for about $20, which is hard to beat for the quality. read more

Anything you get is fresh and delicious. The blueberry crumb cake is a must to try! It was so good. Service is always quick and the ladies handle each item with care when packing. This is a remote review from Alaska! Knowing that rainbow cookies were my all time favorite and we can't get anything like this in Alaska, my father stopped at Elegante in Brooklyn, picked up 3 pounds of delicious rainbow cookies and flew for 8 hours to Alaska. They held up well and were still soft and delicious. I am more familiar with rainbow sprinkles than the confectionery sugar on this, but otherwise classic. Definitely a must try! Elegante is a very nice shop that is tucked in neatly on Avenue U in Gravesend. I took the N train and I discovered my new favorite bakery. I ordered five items and tasted three myself. The standouts were the mini Cheesecake, the Pistacchio and Cannoli tart, and their Rainbow cake. I purchased Fourth of July cupcakes and I heard that they were tasty. The young saleslady was very polite and very helpful pointing me to their best items. The store had a line onto Avenue U when I left. They must be doing something right. read more

I really like this pastry shop, but when I ordered 6 cookies and it was weighed with a box it came out to over 8 dollars. I asked the girl to weigh them again without the box and she gave said that the box would not make much of a difference. Well it was $3.70 less without the box. Guys, I don't steer you wrong. Elegante is such an underrated bakery in Brooklyn. I stumbled upon this bakery looking for something sweet in the area after eating at Joe's of Avenue U and, I have never been disappointed. Their rainbow cookie crumb cake is the stuff of legend. Anytime I post it at least 5 people ask me where they can get one. They carry many Sicilian specialties daily (not just on holidays, like most bakeries). Such as cassatedde, sweet Sicilian empanadas stuffed with either cannoli cream or a sweet chickpea filling, and they're delicious. The butter cookies, rugelach, cannolis, mini pastries - EVERYTHING! I have never tried something that wasn't fresh and tasty. If you are in the area please give them a try, you won't regret it! read more

Smells great the pastries look really good unfortunately their customer service kills any cravings that you might be having. My brother in-law ordered a super awesome $150 Wonder Woman cake for my niece. When I went with my wife to go pick it up the crown was cracked and leaning, there was some kinda black smudge on the cake, blue smudges in several places all over the cake and platter. When I mentioned this to the worker that brought out the cake he kept explaining that the cake was supposed to be picked up or was ready yesterday which did not explain any of the smudges that was on the cake. I tried to explain that if the cake was ready yesterday that would still not explain the black and blue smudges all over the cake. Which did not seem to make sense to him. In the end of my brother-in-law decided to get the cake but only after it was heavily discounted for all of the aesthetic challenges. So feel free to visit try the cookies and the cakes that were pre-made look great just don't get a special order one and dont expect a smile. Enjoy. read more

This is my favorite bakery in the neighborhood. I've been coming here for every birthday or celebration for the last 20 years. The canollis are to die for and their birthday cakes are so delicious. You can pick your fillings which are all good. My favorites are the vanilla custard and the pineapple. They have cakes ready in the fridge if you're in a rush I've never had a bad pastry from this bakery. The staff is helpful, they have many options and The prices are fair. read more

As a Gravesend Ghoul, I've been going to Elegante my whole life. All their desserts are delicious, especially the apple horn and their rainbow cookies are to die for. It's impossible to have just one. However, their cakes are pricey. Their customer service is another story. I don't know if their counter girls are new or lazy or if they're just not being trained properly, but most of them don't know what they're doing - I've had a small cake put into a large box and for some reason they don't offer bags anymore? Which leaves me awkwardly walking around avenue u with a large cake box in my hand. read more

The quality of baked goods here is EXCELLENT. This is about a very disappointing response from the counter person helping us at our most recent purchase of a few days ago. I went in with a friend and we were looking for one of their delicious big and tasty cakes... We decided before going it that we would buy one cake and split it - I'm single, she's single, we both live alone, a full cake is to much to have in the house, it will go bad... There is only so much one can eat! So after we picked the cake, we asked the counter person and she cut the cake in half - and she said NO. WTF, what was the big deal with cutting the cake in half. That takes YOU ten seconds and the store has the large knife to make the cut with out any problems. So, next time we want to share a cake, we will take our business elsewhere. A few weeks ago I was at Veniero's on E. 11th St in Manhattan and purchased a cake and asked them to cut it in half, and they had no problem doing that. I have been purchasing bakery goods at Elegante for at least 15 years but I will look elsewhere the next time around. I needed to make a quick stop to grab a last minute slice of carrot cake and it turns out that this was the closest bakery that I could find. I used to work at an Italian bakery and love the elegance of them and this one was name "Elegante" so it was perfect. I walked in a was greeted by a sweet girl. They had mini and regular sized pastries, cakes, cookies and the like, but I didn't have much time to check it out more. The mini pastries were $1 which I appreciate because sometimes they are by the pound and that just complicates things. The regular pastries started at $2 which I also thought was very reasonable. Went here the other day because I was in the neighborhood. Like most bakeries like this, its family owned but this one has a better selection than most. For some reason they made small and medium sized pastry lambs for Easter which was kind of odd, but ehh whatever. I didn't get any rainbow cookies (my standby) because they use apricot filing instead of raspberry; this isn't what I like, but some people do so yea just fyi. The girl behind the counter was friendly, and she was likely related to the owners. I got a small cannolo and a piece of Italian cheesecake which was dipped in chocolate and had a chocolate covered strawberry on top. The cannolo was alright, it was freshly filled which was a nice touch, but the shell got soggy by the time I ate it later in the day and the cream was more sugary than substantial. The cheesecake was much better however, and really didn't need a dip in chocolate. The chocolate covered strawberry was a nice touch, but the cake itself was delicious with a nice orange-y flavor and not too much sugar. It reminded me of the cheesecake served at La Palina, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is where they get their stuff. I'd reccomend coming here for the great cheesecake for sure. They are a professional, family owned bakery and I can reccomend them for that alone. read more

My aunt has been picking up pastries from Elegante for years. The cookies are on par with other great bakeries in Brooklyn like Aliotta. In addition to a great selection of cookies, they also have very reasonably priced cakes and pies with most ready made options priced in the $10-15 range. Elegante also has a fair selection of individual slices of cakes such as carrot cake and red velvet cake; this makes Elegante great if you're looking to buy a variation of items. I highly recommend the ginger man, chocolate lace, and rainbow cookies though you can't go wrong with any choice! read more

Omg so I've been getting cookies at work during this Pandemic and so I decide to go into the store. When I say delicious I mean just that, my husband and I went in for 1 treat each and $30 later we walked out with boxes of amazing cakes. Heard about Elegante Pastry shop from family members and friends. I was told that The cream-puffs were great. Little did I know the employees who work there aren't too great. Actually disgustingly rude. I asked the woman behind the counter for cream-puffs, she let out a sigh and grunted, "what flavor?" I didn't know the flavors so I simply asked, "what flavors do you have?" Her reply, with attitude, "you don't know the flavors?" As she huffed and puffed she told me the options. She was so annoyed. Like she did not want to deal with the transaction. She then asked me how many I wanted, so I simply responded, "5" --- she then said, "only 5!?!?!" I respectfully did not say what was really on my mind. - then she said "Here's your 5 cream puffs" in a sarcastic tone. Overall the cream-puffs may be good, but you're not going to have a good experience with the service on a Thursday Night --if this poor excuse for a human is working there. read more
