We had been in a car accident and our car was un-drive-able . Cat at the front desk told us we were loitering and needed to leave even after I explained we were just waiting for AAA. I had my elderly mother and 2 young kids with me while my husband was outside trying to see the extent of the damage. It was freezing outside and Cat said if we didn't leave she would call the police. I said we had no where to go and she said that was not her problem. She claimed she called her manager to verify the Hampton Inn's policy for our situation, but when we called her manager in the morning we found out that she lied, never made any calls, and the Hampton Inn's policy did not mean we needed to be thrown out in the freezing cold. Cat is clearly unstable, malicious, and hateful. I would not feel safe in any place of business that employed her. She's a liability and the hotel is aware of this, and from what I can see no disciplinary actions were taken. To think it's appropriate to call the police on a family looking for a safe place to wait for a tow truck at night in the middle of winter in our current political environment is a sign of extremely poor judgment. This hotel is clearly "WHITES ONLY". If you're BIPOC ** BEWARE ** (see photo).

Since we were staying for one night on our way up north and one more on our way back, we decided to save some money and go with the Travel Lodge. We called to make our reservations and talked with the owner. He assured us we would have the best room for our needs. When we got there we found our room was just right and of course it was very clean even though a bit dated. That didn't matter to us. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was also what we needed as my mom uses a walker. We slept well and the next day we were on our way for the rest of our trip. When we reached our destination we checked into our "high end" hotel and I was astonished. The room was so small that the 2 beds took up all the space. The beds were so high that we had to go out and buy step stools just so we could get into them and so soft that I felt I was rolling out half the time. The bathroom was so tiny that mom could not close the door with her walker. Plus the toilet was so low to the ground we could barely get up, When we went to get breakfast it was a brown bag. When we were heading back home I could not wait to get back to the Travel Lodge where the room made sense and was comfortable. There may not be all the amenities of the "high end" hotels, but we were more comfortable and treated with great kindness. As for me and my family, the Travel Lodge is our halfway stopping point. Thank you Travel Lodge. We wish you well.

I don't think any serious maintenance has been done here since the 90s. Everything seemed old and outdated. They didn't have king beds at all. I can't say the place was dirty, but I definitely can't say it was clean either. The stairway to the second floor, which is outside, was rusting. Also, either they don't have a breakfast or the guy at the counter at check in never mentioned it. The guy who checked me in was nice, but that's about the only positive thing I can say. There is hope though- when I stayed there, there was a big, new Days Inn sign on the property, so there's a chance that if they get rebranded, they will also renovate or update the place. Would not stay here again.

I would highly recommend this location for a needed stop or just a scenic stop on the Ohio River.

We used the larger community fire pit as the evening waned. No one came to any of the other 4 tents. I feel this place has potential but seems to be in its infancy. It was very peaceful here. Wished there was a doable path to the Sycamore Saloon so you didn't have to drive even though it was a short distance down the road. With no bathhouse or bathrooms but a port a John, it is hardly glamping. Just don't have to pitch a tent. No direction about lighting but the "extra" battery pack was enough to light us up for our short trip. There was not one at the site. There was a geo dome being built on site. I think in time this could be a nice experience but for now, completely rustic and basic. We did not receive any pre arrival information and had to call to ask about linens, toilet and lighting so as to know what to pack. It seemed as the occupied tent next door was someone long term.

Watching the stars while soaking was such a peaceful experience. We only wish we had booked an extra night. On our last morning, my husband spotted a doe and her fawn in the side yard, which was such a special treat.
