We arrived here at 3PM for a 5:30 flight to LGA which we knew was going to be delayed. We were the only group (four of us) that were at the counter. I mean... this was one quiet airport. After a quick check-in we waited for my wife's wheelchair and made our way through the TSA checkpoint. My quickest security check ever. We noticed many stores (lots of bourbon here and it seems that everyone is on that bandwagon.) They also had one really robust store here with many brands, sizes, etc... I wound up buying some take home at the Churchill Downs Store but was a little set back on the pricing. $45.00 for hat??? A fairly quick walk to the gate and we sat a waited. Internet is really good here and I had no trouble viewing some live video. After waiting a bit we decided to stop by Chilis for a quick bite before the delayed plane left. You can see that they're doing a fir amount of construction here which is good since this airport could use a bit of a facelift.

This is a great little airport. It has many amenities such as restaurants and businesses but…read moredoesn't come off as congested. There is plenty of seating in the airport and my flights weren't at capacity to where we had to fight to get on the plane. I even noticed the TSA agents seemed to enjoy their job which is not the norm in other airports. They greeted you, smiled, made small talk, and chatted amongst themselves. It was refreshing to see and experience. The seating seemed a little primitive as I didn't observe a lot of electrical/charging capability. I had to put my coffee on the seat as I went off and left it with my wife given lack of tables. My wife looked for a lounge but didn't locate any. I'm not sure if that was the airport as a whole or specific to Chase/AmEx cardholders. My daughter who is stationed in Italy and came to visit was complaining about the US coffee and I observed an Illy Italian coffee machine by our gate which made her smile. Love this aiport.

For an international airport...the whole post-customs situation is infuriating, also even if you don't have checked luggage. Having to RE-DO a security screening, which negates anything you may have bought in your originating airport that you can bring on a plane that time that now...you can't get through a new TSA check (liquids, my friends)...it boggles the mind and stretches logic. Still, I like it.

We talked for a bit with another set of pilots leaving the airport and decided on using the courtesy car to go for food as the airport restaurant didn't open for an additional 45 minutes. After breakfast we put fuel in the car and drove back, got fuel for the plane and purchased a t-shirt. Staff was very curious and took amazing care of us. The ATC operator in the Tower took great care of us during out landing taxi and takeoff procedure. I would gladly come back here just to stop or grab lunch. Also the FBO was very clean.

The rental car pickup and drop-off is just outside of the airport building - no shuttle bus needed... just walk towards the rental car area. TSA was easy to get through. I have TSA Pre-Check with Touchless ID. It was nice to have the separate line for Touchless ID but there was only 1 TSA agent working the Pre-Check and Pre-Check with Touchless ID so it really didn't matter that I had that option. I really liked how their TSA bins had a machine to sort and organize them - very "high tech" as other airports don't have that feature. They have some typical food options you'd find at other airports here, such as Starbucks, McDonald's, Chick Fil-A, etc. The United Airline counter agents were friendly folks. I had no issues here. There are SmarteCarte available for $6.00 if you need it. Picking up checked baggage from Baggage Claim was a breeze. Overall, I was really happy with this airport. It wasn't too crowded and they had decent seats options in the main area between concourse A and B. I especially liked the open air feel with the natural lighting. It just made the space more airy and open.

The customer service is great, they keep me safe, and love the sky miles rewards. I remember when I was young, I donated my miles to the military so that they can see their families during tough times. It was a great feeling. What I love about delta is they provide better snacks on the plane, complimentary ear plugs to watch movies and the monitors on front of your seats to play games and watch shows. There are delays of course but not due to them, just Mother Nature. I will always choose Delta. They are reliable, safe and reasonable in pricing.

In the last month we've flown Southwest from Louisville to our destinations. Check in at the kiosk…read morewas easy, printing out our boarding passes and luggage tags, then taking them to an agent to check in our bags. Boarding was also easy - flights on time, boarding groups announced and moved through quickly. All of our flights were smooth and the attendants took excellent care of us with snacks and drinks. Luggage claim was well announced and we grabbed our bags quickly to head home.

The assigned seats have resulted in much slower boarding, first checked bags were initially charged at $35, just raised to $45, and overall prices have been skyrocketing. What used to be a stand out airline seems to be aspiring for the infamy of the spirit airline experience.
