In…read morethe center, there are sports fields (basketball, volleyball, soccer) and playgrounds (note that many of the shelters have either a slide or swingset close by.) The park also has a lot of hills, so the hiking around can provide a nice challenge. There are also a number of places to view the river as it winds through the park. The campsites are very affordable with clean restrooms and secluded location. There is paddle boating, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. There are four playgrounds for the kids and also a nice beach area with picnic tables to spend a day in the sun and lake. We also love the horseback stables! It's a tad pricy - $25 a person for 1 hour or $60 a person for 3 hours ( def recommend the 3 hour trek, it offers way more of an option to gallop gently and see what the horse can offer beyond a slow walk. ) While I highly recommend Erica as a guide - she was friendly but didn't interfere with our personalized experience of riding - I would frown if Courtney was our guide again. She advised she was a volunteer but she rode behind us very closely and kept barking orders, whistling, talking, singing, and giving more orders rather than just letting us enjoy our ride. Overall a great place to visit for just a day or even a week of camping!

The weekend we was there was full but evenings were quiet. Being on the river we did have to contend with preteens walking through your campsite to get to the river, which I blame on no camping etiquette, lol

Lots people from Indy area come here. Having golf cart would be nice & they do rent them. We always bring our own drinking water & only use site water for showers flushing. (Some bad reviews complained about water) Kids 3rd grade and shouldn't have any trouble swimming in quarry, It's loaded with inflatable to climb. Water is very calm to tube. I can see Thursday night place started filling & people were beginning to let there hair down. If your seasoned camper you won't be let down.

It's pristine, clean, decent and clean restrooms (when they get around to adding the TP), and although the roads are in bad shape in many places, it's a fine spot for forest bathing. Your cellphone might not work in some parts of it. Put it away. If you simply must, go to the top of most hills. There are no gas stations or stores within ten miles in any direction; bring the stuff you need for your visit. In the summer, the amount of oxygen you can get here is almost overwhelmingly delicious. There are playgrounds, picnic tables, and shelters, and hundreds of places for a picnic on a blanket/rug. There are insects; remember your bug spray and tick repellent. Enjoy. It's FREE.

This state forest has two of my favorite longer day hikes within an hour of Indianapolis; The Low…read moreGap Trail and The Three Lakes Trail. The Tecumseh Trail also runs through MMSF. In the last few years, a nice bike trail has been paved in and a new office built. There are also backcountry camping sites for primitive camping-be site to check in and practice leave no trace! The park does not have a lot of state park like amenities so be prepared to use a pit toilet. Bring your own tp and hand sanitizer just in case! The hikes are fairly challenging due to length and have some good hills. Bring plenty of water and keep an eye out for wildlife. Rattlesnakes have been spotted in the area. Hunting is also allowed in the state forest so wear bright colors at all times just in case. If you're looking for a challenging hike that is not overly populated but not totally isolated Morgan Monroe State Forest is an excellent choice.

How are a group of adults suppose to enjoy their off day at this business if they can't simply relax and have a beer? I try to go back to this place every year thinking it's fun, but it's just not how it use to be. Staff are always rude as well. Wish I could go back 5 years when this place was at its peak.

This was the highlight of their week! Tim was helpful too since this was our first time renting an RV. Such a wonderful evening! We will be back!!!

The first half is mostly uphill, will be a little exhausting, but the 2nd half is much easier. There is an overlook area, but not much view.

I stopped to ask a nearby homeowner, who promised the trailhead was just beyond the outdated sign. It was, all official with signage and a parking area. It's a nice trail, clearly marked and with several benches along the way. It's a loop of about a mile and a half, which ends by the creek. There's no real vista while the leaves are still on the trees, perhaps in winter? Maybe I'll make it back to find out!

Nice Indiana State Park…read more HUGE lake. Nice and clean campgrounds; well-groomed grounds. Not big on hiking trails but not bad. It's more about the watersports, fishing, and perhaps hunting. There are two campgrounds, one primitive/tents and the other for mostly RVs and trailers, with a few spots for tents. Everything was clean, given it was a holiday weekend. There is no store or restaurant close by, so bring EVERYTHING YOU NEED, including fuel-- as their marina wasn't pumping when we stayed there (not that we needed it). When it's not a holiday weekend, it's reasonably quiet, but expect a lot of boat traffic noise and loud music on the holidays-- we tried both a holiday and a non-holiday adventure. The signage to the park gates from the county roads stinks, but inside the park, it's not too bad. Get the downloadable map from the IN DNR before you go. Cell service is spotty, and thank heavens!
