Fish aren't boring pets, they are quiet and well behaved! I've been to a few different stores around town for my fish supplies and I really like T & T! They have a great selection of fish, coral, and everything that goes with salt and fresh water tanks. What makes this place great is the service. We had a problem where some of our fish died (supplied by another store) and we called T & T. They said to just bring some water in and they would analyze it.. FOR FREE. They did just that and told us what was wrong. Our Nitrites were way too high. They said 'we could sell you a bunch of stuff, but what you need is a massive water change'. I appreciated how they were very helpful and didn't try and sell us a bunch of stuff that would have made a negligible difference. I have also found that everything I used to buy at Fish Ranch (off of 59) is just a little cheaper at T & T. T&T is truly the best place to purchase fish around. When they receive their fish, they quarantine them and treat them before selling them to the buyer. They check every tank daily to verify the health of their fish. They are also great at diagnosing problems and recommending treatments. How do I know all of this? Because we recently bought some guppies from the Petco nearby, since we had a gift card. After bringing them home, they infected our well established tank and killed all of the fish but one, which we are trying to save. Petco does not have the safety protocols T&T has. T&T has given us recommendations to try to help us save our remaining fish. We will now only buy fish from T&T. This is not our only good experience. We have been buying fish and supplies from T&T for years. They are extremely helpful and truly know what they are talking about. read more

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. I found this store mostly by accident and I NEVER want to buy from a big chain store ever again! Prices are slightly elevated, since it's a smaller store that's to be expected. They have gorgeous fish, a wonderful store layout, amazing selection of driftwood and quality items, but that isn't even what sets it apart the most for me. The main reason I am obsessed with this store is because of the attitude of the people who work there. Don't know anything about fish or are just starting out? They will teach you everything you need to know and guide you towards products they know can help you without pushing certain products. Already obsessed with fish? They will nerd out with you! They truly go above and beyond to accommodate a customer's needs! Just this week I needed some items I wasn't seeing on the shelves. They bent over backwards to find the right product for me! The atmosphere there is so friendly and open it makes me want to purchase from them to just keep them in business! They truly love their fish and all the workers I've dealt with have all been extremely knowledgeable and experienced with the hobby themselves. I highly recommend T&T Fish to anyone who wants to get into the hobby or already is in the hobby. The display tanks are gorgeous. But the majority of the saltwater fish are sick, dying or already dead. It's a little weird that they have a "hospital tank" but don't seem to bother using it? The corals are some of the lowest priced you can find around here. read more

Their prices are really high on most stuff. Everything seems healthy. You can get some deals on some frags and they have thing a lot of other stores don't have. Great shop. I love their indoor koi pond and quirky decor (huge dinosaurs overlooking the pond) and selection. Their cichlids are divided into region (Central American on one row, South American on another, Lake Malawi on one side of an aisle, Lake Tagnanika on the other, Texans nearby) which comes in handy for collectors. They have some exotic and fascinating specimens for both FW and SW aquarists, like pea puffers and pipefish. The staff are knowledgeable; each has her/his specialty, so if one person doesn't have an answer for your questions, another probably will. read more

This place is terrible, will not be going back. I religiously shop at fish stores in Houston and wanted to check out something new outside of the 5 places I shop at. 4/5 tanks have dead fish, no joke. I saw a black clownfish with brooklynella. Their livestock is easily the most expensive in the Houston area. Their 30$ frags are as big as other places 4.99 racks. I saw Xenia on sale in the 20-30 frag tank (people give this away on craigslist, it's like a weed). Bottom line, I left an went across the street to petco which had way better deals an healthier creatures. I don't see how this place is still open; either it's customers aren't aware of other stores or it is just a front for a black market business. read more

I dont know what heck other people are talking about. Their livestock is some of the best I have seen around. I have been going there for years. Paul and Q know what they are doing and have helped me solve problems numerous times. Sometimes their prices can be negotiated. I found a lot of stuff online cheaper and he did a price match for me. They have to make a profit too. Anyway, I recently bought a complete setup for a 90g reef ready tank, stand, hood, lights, skimmer, sump...the whole nine yards. With the price matching he saved me a lot of money. They are very friendly and very knowledgeable. They are honest. I cant believe that someone would say Petco is better...that is an outright lie. Every pet store will have an occasional dead fish. They may be more pricey on some frags, but at least he honors his livestock with his word. If they die and you bring a water sample in he will make it right. I will always give them my business....sure some things I buy online due to cost savings, but 95% of things I buy from them. Danny and his crew really know there fish and are extremely helpful. My wife teaches an Aquatic Science class at one of the local high schools. We set up a 58 gallon salt water tank and a 55 gallon fresh water tank in the class room. Any time we have a problem with a tank we cant figure out, Danny or his employees have an answer that works. They also do custom tank work. Our 55 gallon did not have a top, so I asked Danny if he knew where I could find a lid. After giving him the measurements I had a nice custom glass lid in 3 business days. I will definitely keep returning to them for their help and the occasional fish. read more

Changes: One thing that never changes is the fact that everything changes. Right? Well, there's one exception and that's the great customer service I've always experienced at T&T. I've lived in my house since before my 25 yr old son was born and from day one in that new home, I had an aquarium on display in my living room. The entire time, I've gone to my local tropical fish store, T&T. Sure, I've dabbled with Pet Co. or other big franchise tropical fish outlets, but I find their prices to be higher and there service, mediocre at best. Changes: OK, I'll confess. There has been one noticeable change recently. Over the past 6-8 months, the quality of the support staff has hit an all time high. They've always been informative and helpful, but the current staff is simply FANTASTIC. There is always someone available to wait on me. They are charming and do their work in a way that leads me to believe that they REALLY like their work. I give my highest complements to the gentleman who owns and operates the store. I've known him for over 25 years and HE hasn't changed a bit. He's always kind and friendly. He's the kind of guy that makes you just want to hang out a few too many minutes longer, just to chat with him. Awesome guy, awesome owner and most likely, an awesome boss who has groomed a customer service oriented environment that just makes you want to come back. This is where I started my saltwater hobby, and I have got to say they have nice things,and amazing tanks. I always have had great customer service which definitely as a consumer brings me back to buy more. The negatives I would say are a little expensive but then again this hobby is expensive it self, also need to lower the prices on frags from a rack of $10 15 $20 at least of single head frags depending on the coral. So out of the 11 guppies I bought, 8 of them died within 7-10 days. Water parameters in the optimal range, ph between 7.2-7.4. My friend Beth came with me and bought some guppies of her own and all odd the fish from this place died. It was suggested I talk to the owner and he couldn't be any more unhelpful and pretty rude to boot. First he said I need to bring my ph down to 7, but 7.2 isn't exactly considered a high ph. Plus this happened in 2 different tanks. I even pointed out he only had 2 fish swimming in the tank and other dead guppies in there. He would give me a response for that. Then I also came to ask about plants. At this point he is personally helping every single other customer while I was told to wait, but I'm not giving him the satisfaction of leaving so I wait. Then I ask him about live plants because I'm a beginner and want plants. I have to tell him which ones, he offers no advice. He pushes me to the side and acts like he's going to check for them.Then a cute young lady behind me in line comes in and says she's looking for one of the same ones I wanted. So what does Paul do? He goes and gets her plant wraps it up and checks her out. I'm standing halfway between where the plants are and him. Does he come over? Nope! Not even after he sees me. One of his associates sees me and she asks if she can help me. She was super nice, not very knowledgeable in plants, but didn't try to bs me and pretend either. After checkout he told me that he would give me a discount on my next set of guppies. But he sure as heck refused to give me a credit for the 5 fish that had died over the weekend. This had to be worst customer service experience I've ever had and I refuse to ever go back to t&t! Update #2: All of the guppies have died. Only the guppies from T&T though. I have a lot of other guppies, molly's and platy's (also 2 plecos) and everyone else is alive and well. Only the fish from this place died. This also happened to my friend who got guppies the same day. All of hers have died as well, but again... Only the T&T guppies! Obviously it's not my water when it happened to other people too and none of our other fish are dying. Is there a ZERO star option??? read more

If you MUST buy something, only buy when Paul isn't in the store - he's money hungry and quotes higher prices than the rest of the staff. He clearly cares more about making an extra dollar than his customers or animals. Fish are not healthy, if you go in the morning you will see tons of dead fish that died overnight which they didn't get a chance to remove yet. Corals have green bubble algae growing on them (something you DO NOT want to introduce to your tank)! Will not go back ever again! read more
