This is a smaller LFS that focuses on saltwater/reef tanks. They have quite a few frag tanks with various softies, LPS, and SPS corals that all seem healthy and fairly priced. The staff has always been super patient and helpful when I have questions or when I just want to browse. They've been nice about letting me be particular when choosing specific fish/inverts/corals. They're also very knowledgeable and helpful, especially as I'm still new to this side of the hobby. It seems like Oceanlife is a staple among reef keepers in the area and they've definitely built relationships with folks. People get greeted by first name and seem to be able to special order things as well. All around, it seems like what you look for in a LFS!

Fast forward a couple weeks later and my water is finally ready and they will be seeing a lot of me! What attracted me to this place is that the store is super clean and the prices are generally better than any other marine-life store in the Houston area. The staff is always super friendly, professional and knowledgeable which I am so thankful for as an aquarium novice such as myself. They have a great selection of fish, coral, and everything that goes with salt and fresh water tanks. What makes this place great is the service. We had a problem where some of our fish died (supplied by another store) and we called T & T. They said to just bring some water in and they would analyze it.. FOR FREE. They did just that and told us what was wrong. Our Nitrites were way too high. They said 'we could sell you a bunch of stuff, but what you need is a massive water change'. I appreciated how they were very helpful and didn't try and sell us a bunch of stuff that would have made a negligible difference. I have also found that everything I used to buy at Fish Ranch (off of 59) is just a little cheaper at T & T. As we all know, service is often the difference and here it makes a huge difference!

They check every tank daily to verify the health of their fish. They are also great at diagnosing problems and recommending treatments. How do I know all of this? Because we recently bought some guppies from the Petco nearby, since we had a gift card. After bringing them home, they infected our well established tank and killed all of the fish but one, which we are trying to save. Petco does not have the safety protocols T&T has. T&T has given us recommendations to try to help us save our remaining fish. We will now only buy fish from T&T. This is not our only good experience. We have been buying fish and supplies from T&T for years. They are extremely helpful and truly know what they are talking about.

Not sure what was going on, but it could have been a problem with the new fish, as none of my fish got sick. I will likely still get fish there as they have a great selection, but will definitely quarantine them first, and may treat them prophylactically. Which may not be a bad idea wherever you get your fish from.

He was very busy and still managed to make us feel like valued customers by checking in on us while we were looking at the fish. We finally chose and he got them ready for us in no time. Prices are not the cheapest but I have seen places with much higher prices. Unfortunately, all the fish we got died within 12 hours. We were looking for the place online to call and ask, and it turns out they are closed on Mondays. We got our fish on a Sunday. Then I checked their return policy and they only have a 24 hour return policy. No fish, no interest in going back. For everyone else: don't go on a Sunday if you are planning on buying fish.

I feel that the people who say the fish they bought die once they get them home prob just are not that experienced or they have not maintained their tanks well leading to a lower PH so when you bring home new fish they die because most stores have a higher PH due to frequent water changes... It's really simple. I will always be a customer here at fishland.

I'd say this is the LFS for freshwater aquascapers with a huge supply of rocks, driftwood, and anything else you can think of for your hardscape. It has tons of immaculate tanks for your viewing/inspo pleasure from freshwater, saltwater, and paladariums. They also have some options for aquatic plants (more emersed than submerged) but I have been able to find the tissue culture packs and got some nice harder to find anubias and blyxa. Freshwater stock wise they have various nanofish/shrimp along with larger cichlids. On the saltwater side, they have a variety of fish, inverts, and corals. I've had the pleasure of working with Josh and he's very knowledgeable and also willing to help order some species if you're looking for anything in particular. I've also seen how they keep relationships with local hobbyists and they also run aquarium services. I think ambiance-wise, this feels closer to a viewing space than a LFS in some regards. There's ample space, you're really provided time to peruse, and there's almost as much display tank volume as selling volume.

I purchased a used Kessil light from Fish Gallery--not an open-box item. The light was originally…read morepriced at $469, and I purchased it for $429 after being told it was used. When I bought the light, I was informed that it did not include the original Kessil power adapter. A store associate provided me with a different 90W power adapter and assured me it would work. Unfortunately, after getting home, I discovered that the adapter did not work with the light. Since I needed the light immediately, I had no choice but to purchase the correct Kessil power adapter online for $45 and pay for overnight shipping so I could use the product. I contacted customer service to ask if the store could reimburse me or provide a $45 store credit for the replacement power adapter, I received no response after this request. What is most disappointing is that I spent over $1,000 at the Fish Gallery on Fountain View that day, and it appears the company is willing to lose a customer over $45. In addition to the missing original power adapter, the used light was also missing its original hanging hardware. This experience has left me very disappointed. I expected better customer service and support, especially considering the amount I spent. It's unfortunate that such a small gesture to correct a problem caused by an incomplete used product was not considered worthwhile.

Then gave out pellets to feed the fish and turtles at tanks that were eye level to the kids. We then moved to the back of the place where they had two touch tanks available. If I'm being honest I don't think the fish should be in the touch tank (they were tiny and kids are rough), the crawfish was fine. Everything was walked thru in a loop. During lunch, two of the staff dressed up in fish costumes and greeted the kids. The place was very clean and displayed beautifully. I do have a tank at home and will definitely come back on my own time to explore more.
