She looked at my nails, immediately started typing on her phone, and then came back and told me that my refill would be $110 and my pedicure would be $50. While I thought the prices seemed unusually high, I agreed to the services. What surprised me even more was being told that I had to pay the full $167 upfront before any services were performed. In all my years of getting my nails done, I have never been required to prepay for a refill and pedicure. I also did not notice any other customers being asked to pay upfront, which made me feel singled out. What made the pricing even more confusing is that I regularly get nail designs, artwork, and other add-on services, and I have never paid anywhere near $167 for a refill and pedicure--even with those extras included. This visit was simply a refill and pedicure, yet it ended up being the most I have ever been charged. To be clear, the nail technician who worked on me was very kind, professional, and did a good job. I have no complaints about her whatsoever. In fact, I felt bad that I wasn't able to leave the tip I normally would have. I am a generous tipper and always make a point to show appreciation for good service, but after paying such an unexpectedly high amount upfront, I simply didn't feel comfortable spending even more. My issue is with the way I was treated as a customer. The unusually high pricing, combined with the requirement to pay upfront when others seemingly were not asked to do the same, left me feeling embarrassed, humiliated, and as though I was being treated differently. Whether that was the intention or not, that was my experience. Because of how uncomfortable I felt, I will not be returning. The wors!!
