My friend John recommended me to the Trak Shak in Homewood. I'm really glad I went! Was greeted by Aaron - who was very busy with other customers. I've had issues with my left ankle during runs. He recommended a proper fitting Asics Kayano 26. He also suggested moving to a size Wide - which I've never tried. Ran 3.36 miles today. Felt great! Absolutely will be back! Thanks Aaron! read more

I love this place! It's a runners paradise. I go in every spring for a new pair of running shoes and they always find me a great pair that lasts thru the hell I put them thru. Went here to be fitted for new running shoes, but the older gentleman working the floor really wasn't eager to help me. I informed him I have flat, wide feet and needed to determine if I over-pronated in order to find shoes that will keep my knees from aching when I run. He immediately informed me that they really didn't have any wide shoes, but they might could order some. He went to the back to make sure, but came back to tell me no luck and there wasn't "much else [he] could do". He then basically just ended it there. He never offered to let me even try a shoe that naturally has a roomier fit. He didn't offer to tell me which options could be ordered in a wide. He didn't offer to check with the other location to see if they had any wide with shoes. On top of all that, there was a large sign over the wall of shoes that said something to the effect of "Please do not use our services and then go shop online. Support your local retailers". Agreed, but that snarky sign is very off-putting, especially when I'm trying to purchase shoes from you (even if I have to special order them). So I took my business to Fleet Feet, where I was greeted at the door, received a proper fitting and was presented with multiple in-stock options. I was even able to purchase inserts that helped with my flat feet. I ended up spending $200.00, and was happy to give my business to someone who was so helpful! This place has yet to dissatisfy me! I've purchased my last 3 pair if running shoes from here. All of the running equipment is of the latest technology. The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable! There's also lots of toys for avid runners! For those of you who are military they offer a 10% discount! Went to The Trak Shak on Saturday for the first time. It's a great place! I wasn't going to review but I just read the other reviews and I feel compelled to share my experience. When I arrived at the store there were other customers already being served. I couldn't help but overhear the exchange which pretty much sounded like a customer who wanted a shoe in her regular shoe size. The staff member was pleasant and provided some education about fitting running shoes and how they are generally sized up to allow for socks and foot swelling, etc. The customer seemed hellbent on keeping her small shoe size. The sales staff person was polite and seemed very helpful. The point of this is that when I read another review about shoes that ended up hurting the customer, I wondered if the customer placed any value on the advice of the sales associate. My experience was great. My feet were measured. The sales associate watched my gait and checked my arches. Based on that data, several pairs of shoes were suggested and I tried them all. The associate checked the fit on each pair and after sizing up a few times, changing brands and styles, I finally purchased a pair of good shoes with appropriate socks. Great store. Wife needed work out shoes but couldn't find any. To the shak we go. They watched my wife walk around and decided she pronates. I dint know what that means but they recommended 3 different shoes and a size she hasn't worn. What did we get? Three of the best feeling shoes my wife has ever had on her feet. Another great experience at Trak Shak! Every other spring I go in for a new pair of shoes that I can work in and also wear to workout in. They are always extremely friendly and have always called other locations if they didn't have my size. They are all very knowledgeable and will fit you with a shoe that you won't be complaining about after a month of running. Even when I just pop in to buy some SwiftWick or Feetures they are always helpful. They also have a great selection of oofos which are the most comfortable things you will ever put on your feet. Perfect to slip on after a workout or to wear anytime. Awesome place with always friendly employees. read more

I went to The Trak Shak for the first time. I was very impressed! Jeff was extremely helpful and patient! He took the time to find me the exact shoe and size that I needed that my doctor had recommend that would fit with my orthotics. He sized my feet and made sure my orthotics would fit properly. I went in explaining a friend who was an avid runner sent me in as I was having Achilles' tendon pain. I wasn't sure what was going on and they are "fitting professionals" especially per the sign "don't use our fitting services then go and purchase shoes online". I was put into a pair of shoes I was assured would be comfortable and helpful with my foot pain. Wore the shoes TWICE and I could barely walk during my run and after taking them off they hurt my feet so badly. I called in as these are the shoes they told me to buy, and got a little attitude but they told me to come in and they'd look at them. They put a second liner in the shoe and sent me on my way (after I said I wanted to return them-I'm in excruciating pain). The shoes gave me foot pain in addition to my Achilles' tendon pain. Did 2 more runs with the second sole in them and the pain is so bad in my Achilles' tendons I'm never wearing these shoes again. I'm very mad as a customer. They tout that they're "fitting experts" but put their customers in ill fitting shoes and then refuse to take them back or exchange them when they're in terrible physical pain 4-5 workouts in. It would be different if I came in and insisted upon buying the cool new hot shoes on the market but I didn't. I came in looking for help in solving a foot pain issue I was suffering from and they exacerbated my issue! They're ugly as can be but bought them bc they swore it would alleviate my issues. So now I'm out $130+ for shoes I'll never wear again and a company that doesn't stand behind their services that they aggressively tout plus now I have to go buy another pair of shoes somewhere else-probably a chain. I would suggest going somewhere else honestly (and I hate that bc I like supporting local places). read more
