I ordered shots and they were sorta more like half shots. That's the only thing keep this place from being five stars. It might have something to with the fact that they were in a dry county I dunno. Steve H and I quickly made friends with the guy running the karaoke - he was awesome and did a great job! I drank some gin and tonics and had a couple of shots and enjoyed the atmosphere. The shots were a little small, so not sure what was up with that. I assumed it had something to do with the dry county and how you have to have a membership to drink. This is the kind of place where people are friendly and everyone is welcome it seemed. I saw all walks of life in the bar, which is always a good thing. The bartenders were great! There were pool tables and people having a great time all around. I could tell the people singing karaoke get lots of practice and likely sing the same songs over and over, but that is another reason why this bar was so awesome. I actually stayed at the OG Holiday Inn across the street from the Hotel Bently and found this bar by happenstance. So there I was, at the Holiday Inn for work and the bar was closed. Apparently, the bartender didn't show up for work and although the manager said I could tend the bar for the night, I was not about to start a new job. She recommended the Mirror Bar, located in the basement of the Hotel Bently. After assurances that I wouldn't be murdered walking the block to the bar, I set off. The Mirror Bar reminds me of a classy joint from a bygone era. Yes, there are mirrors. No, it is not some sort of weird place. I mention that because when I told people I went to the mirror bar they looked at me as if I was some sort of perv and I want to set the record straight. Back to the review. This is a nice bar with a nice selection of bourbon. Weeknights are pretty dead but don't let that stop you. In addition to bar seating, there are tables along the wall with comfortable chairs. Comfortable chairs in a dark classy bar? Yes, please. Prices are pretty standard for a hotel bar. Will I be back? of course. If you see me there, say hi and buy me a bourbon.

Heat and warmth lasted throughout the meal so mine didn't get cold quickly. Sassy (which tastes buttery and salty) or Swamp (think Yum-Yum) sauces are fine selections to dredge the goods. My goodness, I forgot all about the competition across town at first bite. My crawfish claws and tails were SO fresh and tender I could easily crack it or pull out the meat and suck the umami juices. And when sucking the heads, the clear hint of lemon was there, just slap yo' mama already!! As we sat and ate, car after car after car pulled in and this was mid-afternoon, no lunch rush.
