We arrived with the Sunday lunch crowd, so there was a line out the door. They know what they're doing here though as the staff moved the line along quickly and effeciently, even taking you to your table so you don't have to walk around looking for one. Super friendly staff that checked on us often and kept our used plates cleared as soon as we slid it to the side. The food... there's fried catfish, chicken, okra - actually I'm not going to even try to list everything that was available! There's a Mexican section too. I picked up a whole jalapeno from that section that set my mouth on fire. Besides the jalapeno, I personally had the fried catfish, okra, green beans, fried shrimp, and black eyed peas (which I smashed so they wouldn't roll off my plate). That was the first course. Returned once more for more gut busting deliciousness. Hubby enjoyed the fried chicken. It was crispy, hot, and juicy inside. I wish we had this place where we live. We'd be here all the time! We were in Center TX visiting family, and decided to dine here. There are not many options, but this seemed to be a good one. When you first walk in you pay for your food and drinks. It's buffet style service. I am not a huge fan of buffets, but the food quality and cleanliness was very good. My food was hot and fresh. We arrived around 5 pm. We ate veggies, fried and baked fish, taco salad, black eyed peas and rice. My wife had the sugar free desserts and thought they were ok. I had the apple cobbler. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. The food was great, we've gone many times and we've never been disappointed. the only thing was, our waitress didn't seem to give much attention to her tables, including ours. Normally you get asked for refills, how the food is, etc. but no, she didn't asks us about anything. This was the only time this has happened as we sat in a new area. She was an American young woman, tall, around 20 years old, brown eyes, brown hair, plus size. we felt she was racist as she put more attention to Americans/white people. Had dinner here a couple of days ago. Place used to be (or maybe still is) a Golden Corral. Had the 10 oz. rib eye w/a baked potato. Came with a trip to the salad bar. Steak was a bit overcooked - ordered meduim-rare and it came out medium-well. Food and service were both okay. Salad Bar was about average.
