I have always been made to feel welcome here. My son asked to go and grab a couple of cowboy steaks. So we did. Service was great. The food is great. I love the sweat iced tea with lemon of course. I asked for a few deviled eggs but they were already out. I love them. The tables are a little sticky at times and the seats may be a bit wobbly, but other than that no complaints here. We were a little confused about the two sides though.. the left side is bbq right side is more like a grill. I got the sirloin( ranch hand) and my boyfriend had the sirloin steak. First thing I noticed was two sheriffs cars in parking lot. If the police are there to eat it's gonna be good is a golden rule for me and that rule held up. As you walk-in there is Blue Bell ice cream and local fudge ready for sale. I havent even seen the menu and they are hitting me up for dessert or it's a reminder on the way out. Two menus. We ordered CC's Smokehouse catering for our daughter's wedding last week. John and Allison were punctual, attentive and nice to work with. They arrived a little ahead of schedule and everything was set up by the time we made it to the reception from family photos. Grilled Chicken, Chopped Brisket, and Sliced Sausage with Loaded Mash and Green Beans plus all the fixins was our meal with Lemonade and Iced Tea. Everything was excellent and everyone had more than enough to eat, they even brought us to go boxes for anything leftover, and there was plenty. We did go with delivery and kept John and Allison there as "servers" for an extra charge. They did not serve the food, but they managed the food and drink situation flawlessly, kept up with any messes and made sure everyone had exactly what they needed. 100% worth the minimal additional fees. I'd seen CC's Smokehouse on a local PBS show I watch called "The Day Tripper". I decided that it looked like the best option in town and talked it over with my friend and we decided to give em a shot! They have BBQ and Steaks but judging from the pics I saw on Yelp I decided to stay away fro the BBQ, I have sort of high BBQ standards and didnt want to take any chances. I ordered a ribeye and a salad at the counter and had a seat. It didnt take too long before I got my steak. The steak was cooked rare just as I'd ordered it. My only complaints were that it seemed to be sub standard beef. I find it hard to believe the beef could have been more than USDA Select as it had almost no marbling. It wasn't bad per say it just wasn't great. I wish I could say a bunch of good things about this small town business and judging from all the wall decor they seem to do a whole lot for the community. When driving back from Houston to East Texas, I asked some coworkers where I should go to eat down this direction. The unanimous response was, "CC's Smokehouse." And they were right! Down-home decor, staffed with friendly people willing to help. Many of which are very young, which is refreshing to see eager, young people willing to work hard. I ordered a chicken fried steak, fries, and fried okra. I believe down-home cooking is measured by how good your CFS is. Utterly unbelievable how good this was! Juicy, hot, and the breading was crispy and out of this world. Probably the most amazing thing about this meal, it stayed hot and tasted fresh the entire time I was dining. By the time I needed to leave, I was seriously questioning my judgement on eating such a scrumptious meal, and still with 2 hours of driving left to go. LOL. This place is amazing, and next time I am in the area, I will be bringing the entire family. My broworker Jimmy suggested we stop at CC's because he knew I was on a low carb diet. I have eaten a lot of ribeye on this diet and can tell you that not only was this one of the best ribeyes I've ever had, but it was also one of the most reasonably priced too! I went with the 14oz version and was a little surprised when it was served Texas BBQ style on butcher paper on a lunch tray. I also ordered a couple of high-carb sides, because that's pretty much all they had. I tried not to eat the mac and cheese but it was soooo good! The other side was corn tater tots, which were also too good for my diet. The pics I took make me think they were, but I'm not sure. I have been frequenting this place since I was a student at Stephen F. Austin State and continue to drop in whenever I am in town! They close on Sundays and the parking lot needs new asphalt but the issues pretty much end there. The service is consistently good, the dining area is always clean, and the food comes out fresh. I usually get the 14oz. Cowboy Steak but if you'd like a better cut of meat, a same-sized ribeye is $4 more. They come with a salad and a side item from a long list of choices. The house steak sauce complements the meat well. The food is served on wax paper placed on a tray. I'm normally picky about the china but this is a part of the novelty at CC's Smokehouse. Other than utensils, everything else is plastic. Self-service drinks (they serve Coca Cola products) and condiments. You bus your own table when through. read more
