    Linen stains

We planned our vacation months ahead as we were very excited about our Philippine trip. It has been 5 years since the last visit to the country. This time our itinerary included a two-night stay in Tagaytay at the Taal Vista Hotel. What looks like a memorable and seamless stay, but the experience was quite the opposite. When I booked the rooms, I had to reschedule them at some point due to conflicting work schedule. I sent out several emails, but they were slow and up to not being responsive at all. I even wrote to their General Manager to complain about it, but no acknowledgement as well. So, I just called them up (several attempts) until the rebooking request was resolved. We arrived this past weekend. All rooms were ready on time. Two of the three rooms were nice, but ours that was assigned (Mountain Wing) was not great. The bed had stains on them, bathroom towels were worn and fraying, floors had obvious water damage and furnitures had seen better days. We thought of upgrading but none were available on our 1st night, and since we won't be in the room that much, we decided to stick with what we have. We placed a make up room request the next morning but no one came. We pulled back the request since we were ready to retore for the day. The gym was not available due to construction so they had all machines lined up next to kids playroom things. None of the machines were plugged on power. We were told by Front Desk to just have any of the security guards there to assist us if needed. The breakfast buffet spread were good. I wrote a separe review on that. At Rain, the Spa, my partner tried the "Soy and Fire". Had a bit of an issue because they don't accept gratuities by card, and has to be cash. For travelers like us, we usually do not carry cash. Incidentals had to be paid directly and cannot be charged to the room, which was odd considering properties of this calibre. The convenience of having transactions billed to the room should be considered. On the brighter side, the views of the Taal Volcano and lake are wonderful. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The hospitality is there, but there is a definite need to refresh their products.

The. taal vista hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Tagaytay, similar to Manila Hotel in Manila area. The city of Tagaytay dates to 1500's when first volcano eruption converted the salt water Taal lake to sweet water. The hotel or lodge as it was called then, was a dream project of President Quezon and was completed in a short time. Today the property its owned by a private real estate company and they have done massive expansion next to the original building, making this lodge with lot of history in to a sprawling commercial business. The best part of the hotel is the location and the views. On a rainy and foggy day the views of the volcano and the lake will be on and off but its worth the effort. The hotel location is close to many local restaurants and coffee shops serving local fish a d bakery items, like buko (coconut) pie and bibingka (casava) cakes. The hotel is a hit or a miss depending on location and views Vs value for money. Considering its history and unbeatable location you can certainly not go wrong if you book it during a non busy season

Can't believe I'm only making this review now after staying here twice already (March 2023 & January 2024)! This is the best hotel in Tagaytay BY FAR! The reception desk was very nice and the lady that was there at the time actually recognized me from 9 months ago! Quite impressive in my opinion! The rooms are always clean (though there was some funky odor in the bathroom coming from the shower and the toilet was making a funny noise, it's not a problem when the door is closed) and well tended to by the housekeeper. What I love about this hotel is the view! Perfect view to wake up to! And the breakfast buffet is too notch! And it's walking distance from Sky Ranch! Side note: you can buy admission from the reception desk! I'm so sorry if I forgot the name of the receptionist but I'm sure she'll remember me!

*This review is just for the views. I did not stay at the hotel* A family member told us that Taal Vista Hotel has the best view of the Taal Volcano, so we had to check it out. The hotel is guarded and they don't usually just let people in unless they're checking in to the hotel or dining at the restaurant. We wanted to see the view, but were also interested in getting coffee and dessert at their cafe. We were greeted by the friendly guards at the gate and were directed where to park. The hotel staff was very attentive and were ready to greet us as soon as we walked in the hotel. The hotel lobby and dining areas are beautiful and clean. We inquired about their gelato, but unfortunately they weren't serving them at the time of our visit, so we just headed out to check out the view. The outdoor areas are just as nice. The grounds are clean and well kept. Oh my! The hotel has an unobstructed view of the volcano and the lake. The view is truly spectacular. It will literally take your breath away. We stayed for a good 15-20 minutes just taking it all in and taking lots of photos and videos. You can't take a bad picture or video here. How nice to wake up to that view! If we hadn't already booked accommodations at another resort that evening, we would have booked a room at Taal Vista Hotel!

Located in Tagaytay City, where you almost feel like you are on top of the world. It's actually cliff side off the main road where you see many local shops and vendors, and you get that Farm to Table establishment. Me and my traveling group were on our last stop to have lunch before heading back to the Metro. Our tour guide planned a lunch at The Veranda at the Taal Vista Hotel. The view from the garden side was extremely beautiful. You can see Mt. Taal and the surrounding lake. Grabbed some pictures and then headed back into the restaurant. The seating was wide open, we also invited our driver to join us for lunch. So getting a table for 6 wasn't that much of a big deal. You could opt to sit at one of the tables outside, but it was a bit too windy and warm outside. A lot of Filipino items to choose from the menu, as well as Western items. What was known to the locals were Tagaytay's Bulalo is very delicious and very popular. If you haven't tried it before, basically it's Beef Bone Marrow in a vegetable stew. I just had to try it. It was so yummy and huge in size to share with the table family style. The surprising entertainment was a few gentlemen serenaded each table with their singing voices and musical talents. Nice touch to the atmosphere!

Came on a day when a typhoon was coming down on the area. Heavy rains and strong winds couldn't keep us from getting a view of Taal Volcano. Located about an hour south of Manila in Luzon, Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City is a tourist destination that appeals to the senses. The area was surrounded by dense fog throughout the day so we were not able to take advantage of the lake view from our rooms. From the moment we checked in, the staff was very friendly and you just know you're going to be well taken care of. After settling a bit in our rooms, we made our way down to the cafe for an early dinner. After dinner, my sis and I made reservations for one of their deluxe 2-hour spa body treatments. Again, the staff at Rain Spa were very friendly. The ambiance was very relaxing and zen. We started off with a 15 minute sauna, then quickly laid down for a gentle skin polish followed by a 60-minute anti-stress massage. It was capped off with hot green tea that was truly relaxing and really set you up for a good night's sleep. By 8AM, the fog slowly cleared to reveal the magnificent view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano in the distance. The lush greenery of the surroundings was a sight to behold. Aside from the spa, Taal Vista Hotel also has a Kultura boutique that sells a variety of Filipino "pasalubong" or the Filipino tradition of travellers bringing gifts or souvenirs from their vacation destinations. We only stayed a night but was definitely pleased with the service and the amenities offered by the hotel. Definitely recommend this hotel over any other ones in this area.

Hazel was amazing truly made me relaxed. She was able to pinpoint each and every body part that needed to be given extra care. The body parts that I had which were stiff felt like putty. For a lady half my size, I could feel heat and strength which I could not fathom from her. The timing and attention she gave to my sore body was perfection. I had my bald head massaged and she ran it to my face and ears which truly helped blood circulate in places I didn't known was needed. Seriously felt like I melted into the bed. My wife was next to me and I know she loved her massage as well. Could hear her doze off and actually fell asleep. I would highly recommend a massage here in Taal Vista Hotel and if you chose to do so make sure to look for Hazel. Thank you so much for all the staff who took care of all 9 of our family members. You all made our day much more relaxed and welcoming. Would like to come back ASAP and will surely recommend it to anyone and everyone who needs a relaxing massage.

Wedding review 12/15/2023 I had planned my wedding at taal vista 1 year in advance . The service was great as soon as we arrived but if you ever been to tagatay you know the weather is more often than not wet and humid and we had planned for an outdoor wedding. My luck it started raining but the hotel was able quickly put the ceremony together for an indoor service which was spectacular . Once the fog and rain had cleared the view was breath taking. MY CHIEF COMPLAINT WITH THE VENUE has to be the LACK OF SECURITY PROVIDED . There were guest walking all over the area of where we had rented the venue and so many of our wedding pictures had to be edited or we had to ask people to move . WE ALSO WERE HARRASED BY TWO FELLOW GUESTS AND ACCOSTED FOR TAKING PICTURES WHILE THE ONE SECURITY GUARD STEPPED AWAY . A precious moment was ruined and a memory tarnished as well , added security was only added after the fact which is unacceptable. I arranged to meet the hotel coordinator on my own to see what had happened the next day on my own and was offered an apology but I had to reach out myself to even get an explanation. The hotel and services are nice and very much a travel hot spot BUT FOR A WEDDING , I'm not too sure !

This review is for their buffet dinner. Good selection of food - local, Asian or western - all very tasty. Plus the view of the lake and volcano is breathtaking. Their lobby lounge also offers a variety of yummy appetizers, cakes and coffee drinks.

Taal Vista Hotel was a pleasurable experience. We stayed in a 3 room suite with 3 balconies for about $300 (US). The view of the lake and Taal volcano is breathtaking and priceless. Just steps away you can go ziplining or go to the casino. I thoroughly enjoyed the two breakfast buffets downstairs, particularly the outdoor buffet, both which come with your stay! In the US, this would have already cost us at least half the price of our stay! We also ordered in room $25(US) massages for 1.5 hours which were heavenly. This was just about as good as it gets!

Hands down one of the best hotels I've stayed at in the Philippines! The view of Taal Lake and Volcano Island is absolutely astonishing! This was a last minute trip with family from Baguio to Tagaytay and I had booked the night before. Since I booked late, room prices were a bit on the higher side. At P6500 (or roughly $141US) a night, I was able to get a beautiful lake-view room with all the comfort needed after a long 6 hour drive from Baguio. Check-in was a breeze. Front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. Additionally, welcome beverages handed out by staff was a nice bonus! I booked 2 beautiful rooms with lake views. Both rooms came with a queen and twin bed. The beds were super comfortable! The bathrooms were fully stocked with the basic amenities. Best off all, the rooms were very clean! I've stayed at many hotels in various parts of the Philippines over the years, but unfortunately cleanliness can be hit or miss in even some of the more "prestigious" hotels. The grounds of the Taal Vista Hotel are well-maintained by the staff. The look-out area facing the lake is perfect for picture taking. There is a small-ish pool that was on the opposite side of my wing of the hotel. The pool is also well maintained and has active lifeguard on duty. Staying at Taal Vista Hotel was most definitely one of the highlights of my most recent trip to the Philippines. I really wish that I had planned better and had the opportunity to stay here longer. Maybe next year...

The French toast -- 3 pieces of bread. Pretty pathetic.

This review is solely for their breakfast services. While my family and I didn't stay at the hotel itself, we decided to go to the hotel for breakfast. We are a big group (14 in total) so we travelled through the Philippines expecting restaurants to take time due to all our orders. However, this hotel took way too long to deliver extremely small orders and subpar food. We were taken into their extension for breakfast area, which was a convention room, admittedly nicely decorated. If anything--the aesthetic of their decor is saving their business. We didn't eat from the buffet (~1000 pesos per person & that wasn't in our budget) but we kind of did -- what they did with our waffle and pancake orders was take the food from the buffet, put it on a plate and deliver it to our table. Their "two waffle" meal consisted of 2 pieces of a 1/4 of a waffle, so really my cousin who ordered it got 1/2 a waffle (and didn't receive the fruit that was supposed to come with it until we asked another lady who was helping clean up the tables around us, in which we got a much better plate of fruit). And that got delivered to our table about 30 minutes for the rest of our food came. During our extended wait, where our family who got waffles and pancakes already finished their meals, we got about half our drinks. We had to ask for our teas and coffees again and it still didn't come for a few minutes. What's bizarre is that some people got their teas and coffees and that they didn't prepare it all at the same time. We were given 5 very small muffins complimentary for our long wait--for 14 people. I can only review the Pinoy Favorites Breakfast -- I got corned beef, garlic rice and over medium eggs. The garlic rice was mushy, the corned beef was liquid-y and not flavored but instead intensely salted, and the egg was sunny side up (although the last thing was not the worst of my problems). The food was possibly rushed because it was actually made instead of taken from their buffet line but for the amount of time we waited as well as how upscale and expensive this place is, I expected better. Waiters were inattentive except for one man in a blue shirt (but I wasn't able to catch him name) and a lady named Mariel. The manager never checked in on our tables, and seems to be ignoring us. We understand that we came toward the end of breakfast and stayed around longer after breakfast technically 'ended' but that is only because of their poor and slow service. We would have been out earlier if our food was prepared faster. So my family and I probably won't go here ever again for food and frankly that isn't a loss for us.

Not only do they have, in my opinion, the best view in Tagaytay. They also have a sweet deal when it comes to hotel rooms! I always think that it's good to plan your trip ahead though most of our Tagaytay trips are unplanned since we tend to only eat, have coffee and relax there. Though with planning comes discounts and really, who doesn't like a good discount or a good deal? I know I do! Their prices are reasonable specially when you take into consideration that you're staying at the best hotel in Tagaytay with that view to wake up to. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner is also available, if that's what you're into. Personally I prefer buffet breakfasts at any hotel even though they most likely all serve the same thing. I'm just a breakfast type of person. If you're looking to relax and have some peace and quiet during your stay at Tagaytay then Taal Vista is the place for you.

Adorable red velvet cupcake from their bakery. Doesn't taste as good as it looks.

Putting that aside, this is a place that I would highly recommend anyone to come to for a day mainly just for the awesome facility to wakeboard. I was extremely expressed by what the owners have done with the place and how they've been able to so ingeniously utilize the small space that they have. For that space in time, I really did feel like I was somewhere else and the challenge in itself was quite a feat to tackle. I don't want to give away too much, but allow me to liken the experience to the Amazing Race. Been back several times since the first visit, and I can say that those experiences were super fun as well. I can vouch for the Sinister Sensorium (Jupiter branch) and the Ticking Time Bomb (Libis). Have fun... and don't forget your brain food!

If you feel like you want to play a game... *puts on a Jigsaw voice*…read more You're bound to have fun at Mystery Manila. You and your friends are locked in a room for one hour, and you need to solve some kind of puzzle (depending on the scenario) to get out. No athletics or brute force needed here, just lots of skill points in problem solving and teamwork! It's all about mind games and riddles, which you'll have to solve under an hour. I went with a group of 5 friends for the Sinister Sensorium room in their Makati branch (across Mapua). This was lots of fun because each of us had to pick a disability: 2 of us had to be deaf, 2 blind, and 2 mute. I won't give any spoilers here, but let me just say that it we had an awesome time. Gather a group of friends and try it out! :D (We also realized that if we were to actually be in a serial killer scenario, we'd be so screwed. :P)

WARNING: this place will charge you for everything!!!…read more Over priced and not worth the price you pay. No outside food or drinks are allowed and if they see outside food, they will fine you. The first day we arrived it finished raining and they shave no dining areas that are closed in, so all dinner locations were filled with mosquitos that kept biting us all. The rooms are pretty small so my ma and pa asked if there were extra rooms. They tried to pretend that all they had left were executive rooms that were expensive. One my mama and papa said it was to expensive for us they magically found a "cheaper room available." The WiFi only allows for 2 guests to connect per room, however the WiFi was not even good at all. Even the employees at the bar told us that the WiFi would work and not work all the time. When my I laws room was "cleaned" the made the bed, emptied the trash, but did not bother to change the used towels. The towels should be the first thing to be changed, especially if they are left on the floor. The TVs in each of our rooms were difficult to operate as the instructors were wrong. It tells you to change the TV to Video 1 or 2 which we're not even options on the TV we had. If you want an extra pillow or blanket or anything they will charge you to "rent" it. The guys at the bar lacked maxing skills and all seemed to be new as they had to look at a recipe cheat sheet when they only serve a hand full of cocktails. When checking out they said everything and everyone has to be out of the room. One of our friends that had another room was charged $4,700 because there was writing marks on the bed sheet. They said that if after they wash it, and it "goes away" they will refund the price. They contacted my friends and said that the marks "went away" but that "it's not as white as it use to be" so they refused to refund the money. I would not recommend this place to anyone because they will charge you for everything and there are mosquitoes everywhere!! Beware they will take you money and instead of enjoying the resort, you will be more worried about what restaurants to drive to outside the resort, making sure you have enough mosquito repellent, as well as making sure you are no over charged on your bill.

Last weekend, we took a short, overnight trip to Island Cove in Kawit, Cavite…read more We took the Cavitex, and there were 2 toll booths. One charged P24.00, the other charged P64.00, for a total of P88.00 one way. We just used Waze to navigate, but it was just all driving straight ahead until Kawit, a little past Island Cove, actually, and then making a U-turn after the toll booth to head back to Island Cove. Took us less than 30 minutes from SM MOA. There's a big sign that says there's no bringing of outside food & drinks. ISLAND COVE HOTEL Parking space was plentiful. We checked in at the hotel, it was the usual process where we were asked to provide a deposit. The staff was helpful. The lobby was cold and air-conditioned, and the original hotel building, where our room was, was obviously old but maintained. They have some newly built villas beside the main hotel. Our deluxe room had cold air-conditioning. The amenities are modern - there's an Asian-sized bath tub, hot and cold water, rainfall shower, telephone shower head, soap, shampoo with conditioner, lotion, vanity kit, shaving kit, hair dryer, etc... room entry also used key cards. They also provided some insect repellent lotion. You'll need this. It is an island, after all. There will be insects. Slippers are also available. It's nice to see Island Cove's support of the local community. At first, I was worried that I wouldn't have enough water to drink, so I was so happy to see that they provided complimentary filtered drinking water, and you can request more drinking water if you want to. I'm one of those people whose first order of business after settling in for a foreign trip, is to buy a gallon of drinking water, so this is great! They also provided several USB sockets located near the headboard! It's much appreciated for charging our gadgets. Some usually ignored areas like the back of the headboard was a bit dusty though. Wifi was available, but was spotty. It's good enough for casual surfing and staying online, but if you need internet for work, better bring your own pocket wifi that you can position near the balony. I had good Smart signal outside, but weak cellphone signal inside the room. ... AND LEISURE PARK There's an electric shuttle you can ride to take you to the different buildings and areas on the island, but we decided to just walk. It is really not too far, just 2-10 minutes' walk to anywhere on the island. This was better than a staycation where we just stay inside the room. We were actually walking around, breathing fresh air, in wide open space, getting good vibes from the abundant plant life. It is so different from crowded Metro Manila. Time moved so slowly. SANGLEY POINT After swimming, we had dinner at Sangley Point, Island Cove's main restaurant. Sangley Point and the pool are connected, but have different entrances. However, you can order food from Sangley Point and eat it at the poolside tables. We ordered the Sangley Point Burger (P330), 6 sticks of their Pork Barbecue (P495), and Chicken Piccata pasta (P330). These were good, especially the BBQ. BREAKFAST BUFFET The breakfast buffet was at Sangley Point, from 6 AM - 10 AM, Saturdays and Sundays. I was happy with the breakfast buffet -- it's not the most extensive, but it was just such a relaxing morning, the ambience made one feel like they had their own hacienda, it just didn't matter. They had typical Filipino breakfast fare like rice, tuyo, tinapa, adobo, corned beef, goto, champorado, etc... There are eggs cooked different ways. They had breads, pancakes, cereal, salads, fruits, coffee, juices. SUMMARY Our stay at Island Cove was a happy, relaxing one. It brought us out of the Metro Manila time dimension and we experienced a slower pace of life - can't believe it had just been a day! It felt like we had a long time to unwind and relax, more than the actual 20 hours we actually had.

We were a party of four with friends vacationing from the US. We booked in advance at booking.com.... the hotel was delightful. Clean and spacious. The lobby and the rooms we chose were overlooking the volcano. Of course, when we got there, the steam/ash from the volcano was covering the view. Nevertheless, the hotel has much to offer. We checked in at 2pm. The guests were few as we were allowed to check-in early. Normally, it's a 4pm check-in with a 2pm check-out. After relaxing at our rooms for a couple of hours, we decided to do the SPA. Best decsion we did that day. By the way they have an ice cream 'caritela' at the lobby . You must try the chocnut flavored ice-cream... the avocado too! All four of us truly enjoyed The VEDERA SPA. We did the 60 minute body scrub and 60 minute massage for 2800 pesos each. That was rejuvenating and relaxing. Our skin felt smooth and soft after the scrub and the massage, solid excellence - you can tell the staff are well trained therapist. Not just fly-by-day masseuse. After the massage, we had dinner indoors due to the ash fall. There was simple entertainment with a female singer accompanied by male guitarist. Pleasant tones I say. Even sang our requested songs. Come morning, the buffet was scrumptious. Tiny fried fishes were a favorite at our table. 'Tawilis' I believe. So many food options and they had TAHO!!! My childhood breakfast food...how wonderful was that! The buffet had all-american and filipino dishes. Oh and the steam/ash died down in the morning. Giving us a great view for breakfast. The concierge, counter staff, servers as well as the spa staff were great. Real assets of this hotel. Everyone was in smiles and ready to help at all times. Our young server even took amazing pictures of us. BRAVO ESCALA, keep up the good work.
