Jarvay seems to be known to over promise and under deliver. Part of the name of this business actually fits because I would describe it as RECKLESS. My grandmother's 90th birthday was held on June 15, 2024 from 11am-3pm. Upon arriving prior to the event NOTHING was set up. We paid $1731.51 for a specialized brunch that would feed 90 people in which we gave extra money. There were 3 key things we expressed in order for us to book with Jarvay. 1. BE ON TIME 2. DON'T RUN OUT OF FOOD 3. MAKE SURE THE FOOD IS HOT. For some reason he managed to drop the ball on all 3 and more. We booked food for 90 people and only 62 people showed up and he ran out of food, water, and lemonade. Not only did he run out of food but he made his grand late entrance and dropped the food on the floor and yelled out " Don't worry I have more" when actually he didn't. Shrimp and grits went flying all of the entry way in which one of the relatives cleaned it up because he decided to run a 1 MAN show for a a large event. Two days prior we did a walk through and he pulled out chafers and baskets to go along with our decorations but the day of the event he switched up. We went from chafers to aluminum pans. I asked why do we have aluminum pans his response was that we had a lot of food but we discussed the menu and set up a month and half prior and did a walk through. He is a total LIAR. The food was EXTREMELY COLD and he served biscuits that were so hard someone could have chipped a tooth. Literally, you could through the biscuit against the wall and it would chip the paint. The baked chicken was like cement and dry. I still don't know he managed to get bake chicken that hard , that is a mystery. He served store bought GFS meatballs, burnt fish, a mushy messy vegetable melody in which he said he would have fresh in season vegetables. That was another lie because those vegetables he had are not in season in Indiana which lets me know he bought it from GFS /Restaurant Depot/ maybe even Walmart. He also decided to serve food that was not on our menu and the food we did order like those store bought meatballs was put out at the end. I am not sure if his math is off, don't know proportions, or running off with people food, because he only fixed enough food for around 40 people. Guest complained about unseasoned food and napkins went over plates into the trash. The only thing I would say was decent was the potato salad. The ribs were tough and he actually manage to leave those at his house and said someone was watching them, which was probably another lie. I told my mother not to book him but she wanted to give him a chance. Don't let him fool you with that "Big Momma taught me how to cook" story. Save your time, money, and experience and go book with a professional caterer.
