We had to replace the underlayment of our roof and also repair some drywall where we experienced leaks during a couple of storms. Pricewise, from the companies we interviewed, Tacheny was in the upper mid-range. One of the reasons we opted to go with them is we have Solar panels and they have their own Solar contractors to remove the panels. That saved us about 2K based on pricing from Solar companies that do the same work. There were a couple of issues we noticed after the initial roof repair was completed. We talked to our site manager, Mahkobi, and he looked over the areas of concern and got those fixed. The drywall repair was exceptional and there were no issues whatsoever. Even though we had to address some of the roofing issues, I felt the office and site manager kept us in the loop, listened to our concerns and addressed the issues to our satisfaction. I thought I had a really major issue by the sounds of it when the wind blew, and when I was closing it. As always, hoping to find a company that's honest and good at. I did over the phone. I explained what problem I thought I had and got a price that seem more than fair to me so we set up a time to get the job done.. When they got there, the guy looked at me and said you don't have a big problem you got a minor issue and he took care of it for a minor amount of money compared to what I thought it was be. I already deleted email from rep and can't remember his name. Wish I could. He was a bit arrogant. This was December 5th last year. He came to do estimate for installation of door, in garage to side yard, where there isn't currently one. He did some measurements, looked around, talked like he wasn't positive of what he was saying. Gave me a verbal estimate then texted with someone and then had a different estimate, almost double what he just told me. I asked about permits and need for light fixture outside door, because a previous company rep had told me they were necessary. This guy with Tacheny said neither were necessary. I asked about having a solar exterior light fixture and he says that would be ok. I called the city and the first guy was totally correct, a permit is needed because it's changing the original structure and a hardwired light fixture has to be outside door too. First guy also told me I'd have to put pavers or other solid material outside door to step out on. Tacheny guy didn't mention that at all. So the Tacheny guy either didn't know yes need permits, which in his business you'd think he should, and also the step outside, or he was not conducting proper business practices. When he leaves he said he'd send an email with quote by end of day. I think it was sometime the following week I got it. I replied to ask again about permits and light fixture. Here it is January 15th and I've not gotten another email, a text nor a call. Nothing at all from Tacheny people. I've deleted numbers and communication. Guess they don't want my business and I truly don't want to do business with them. I'd rather pay the first company more and have everything done legit and proper. It's not how you start but how you finish that matters. We had some bumps in the beginning with a sub contractor Tacheny hired. But they removed the crew due to poor workmanship and and had their own team re do the job. James Hardie siding is a premium product and to get the most out of the siding you want it done by skilled workers who have the experience. I assure you, you only want to do a siding job once.
