Ordered the $23 Chili Verde dinner. It tasted like death. I'm Not convinced that the pork wasn't rotten. I ate 2 bites and was done. Maybe it was cooked and then sat in a freezer forever and then re-heated. It was disgusting. The portion size was ridiculously small, not that it mattered, because I only ate the mediocre rice and refried beans. This was the second time I ate there and both times the food was TRASH. For the prices they are charging the food should be so much better. The rice on my dinner platter was dry and tasted like it was from a box. Not sure any seasoning in the ground beef enchiladas and the nachos were like cardboard. Came here 7 years ago and was unimpressed. For large groups I highly recommend Tachos! We had 23 ladies for dinner and all the meals came out fresh and hot! The food is consistently good! The wait staff were very attentive! The ladies said it was one of the best places we have been. They even did individual tickets. They definitely exceeded our expectations. Going back there soon. read more

Tacho's has been our family's favorite restaurant for years and years now. We have been regular customers and have spent many special celebrations there. They do an excellent birthday! The food is delicious; and the staff is friendly. We would definitely recommend it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have done a great job updating the place lately too![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sadly, we just noticed that they now have (or have had?) Mole Sauce on the menu which contains peanuts. We have nut allergies in our family and one of the reason's we felt safe there was because we thought there were no nuts. We are bummed to no longer be able to go there. There are so many "no's" when trying to find an allergy safe restaurant and we are very sad to lose this gem as one of our few options. Well, I found myself at Tachos last night after being invited with family and they specifically called and said "Tachos, I know..but we actually went last week and it was really good!". They were right. Last night's experience at Tachos was a complete 180 to the previous experiences I've had here (as highlighted in my previous bad reviews). The food was good, the pina colada was perfect, and THE SERVICE was immaculate. It was all women staff and they were on. it. Chips and salsa by the plenty and they kept it stocked on the table, drinks and waters full & refilled, and food came out super quick. Our waitress was so sweet and funny and it was a perfect family dinner out. I had low expectations walking in because I'm from California yet. I was looking for a new Taqueria near my house that had good margaritas. They both this amazing special 3 to 6 every day, which they call 30% off margaritas. How stupid. Yeah, they do it. So I walk in and I say at 4 PM, I would like a margarita and I met with a grumpy old ass woman who's like OK well, yes it is our standard mix with some tequila and ice which she loads more than half full for seven dollars. I said OK. At this point you assume it's the worst experience ever if you're from anywhere south of Oregon. Do not come here. Their food is expensive, and subpar. We came here for an early Mother's Day dinner. I will start by saying the service was friendly and fast. The salsa had good flavor. I had the burrito Cancun and for the price I didn't expect imitation krab and it's not called out on the menu as such. It lacked flavor and the chicken just seemed out of place. Everyone else's in our party ordered standard American Mexican food and said it was typical and average. If we go back I definitely will stay with something more typical. How this place has any 5 star reviews is beyond me. It's your standard looking Mexican restaurant. Nothing fancy. We were seated in the bar area. We came to celebrate a family member's 21st birthday. Even with a DD and her parents they limited drinks quickly. The service seemed to have a hard time keeping up with a large party. The food was terrible. The salsa is watered down. The chips didn't seem fresh. I had ordered flautas and they poured some red sweet sauce on it that made it inedible and soggy. This was probably one of the worst Mexican places I've ever eaten. Was craving the mex so I remembered this place down the road from where I was at. It's been there forever but I have not ate there for many many years. Since it was early for dinner the place was not that busy. No they do have outdoor seating which is nice but it was a bit warm so I chose to sit inside. There was only one other table occupied. I immediately was provided with chips and salsa and I ordered a side of guacamole. I already knew what I wanted, so I ordered the charbroiled Carne Asada ($19.95) which comes with tortillas, refried pinto beans and Mexican rice. My order came extremely fast and the plate had carne asada, a couple grilled green onions, pico de Galo, guac. No sour cream? So I asked if I could have some sour cream. I had already ordered a side of guacamole but yet they put another large spoon of it on my plate instead of sour cream. I also received four warm flour tortillas. The Carne Asada was like leather as well as the green onions were so tough I couldn't even cut them. :-( Then they gave me a small dish of sour cream. Not once was I asked if I wanted a refill on my drink ($2.75) or was I told that the sour cream would cost an additional $2.25. Very upsetting especially when this meal comes with sour cream any other place I had ever been. The guac was $5.25 and it was awful.... It tasted like it had soda water or baking soda in it. Anyhow lesson learned ....that was a quick $30. Which I do not mind if it is good but this meal was not. read more

I hav been here a number of times. I love supporting our local restaurants. This place is a nice place. Clean, the wait staff is pleasant. The food is so so. I've had. Few different item but nothing is out standing. The flavors of the meat sauces are meh. Almost like they poured it from a can The chips and salsa are good and we got two bowls. There aren't many restaurants in Oregon City so this is nice place to go. Where you feel welcome. There were only two tables being served and we had to wait for ever for our bill. We've been to Tachos many times and we always enjoy the food, the staff is always friendly, and it's a nice atmosphere. We even like the addition of the outdoor seating in front. However, this review is mainly for their deep fried ice cream. This is my absolute favorite thing here, even ranked above the free chips and salsa! It's to die for! I'm sure we're not their favorite guests when we come in and only order a couple of drinks and a deep fried ice cream to share, but that's a great night out for me! After raising kids for the last 20+ years, and still having a couple of teenagers at home, sometimes its these little evening escapes for some amazing ice cream that make up the best date nights. Tachos and I go way back. I used to live in OC and came here alot for stiff drinks while watching the locals belt out karaoke. Oh the foggy, double visioned memories. Unlike myself, their chicken tortilla soup has withstood the test of time. It's consistently good, and a nice sized portion. Yummy chicken chunks swimming about in that savory broth. Perfect for a rainy day or a hangover. My cheese quesadilla was so packed full of cheese that I had to adjust my bite size to allow for swallowing! I've never encountered this issue before here, so perhaps their cheese is different than before..? Staff is friendly and welcoming. I always feel like they're genuinely happy to see me! The gentleman that brings the complimentary chips and salsa has been an employee there for like 30+ years. Hopefully he doesn't remember my antics from way back when I turned 21... I love this place. Not so much because the food flavors, which are balanced and absolutely on point. I love it because the staff is so friendly and playful. They clearly pick up on the vibe of each table and they interact accordingly. We came here for ladies night after being sorely disappointed by another location and they just shown as bright stars in our sad little hearts. The food was hot, quick, the drinks were strong! And our servers were so friendly! They offered a drink special each night of the week, tonight was Long Island for only $6. I had the fajita salad and it was absolutely delicious with so many veggies that I didn't feel like I ate too much and was fully capable to enjoy girls night. I attended a meeting in a reserved room at Tachos. They offered a selection of a few menu items for $25 each that are not on their regular menu. I ordered an entree of some kind of cubed pork in a green sauce that was so bad, the meat wasn't edible. They raise the price of the entrees to make money on use of the dining room for a meeting, but the food is awful. So I haven't gone back. read more

This place used to be wonderful. But it's kinda gone down hill over the years the food is not what it used to be but yet still good. Service is hit or miss you either get someone really nice or really rude and it almost feels like you are being rushed to finish and get out at times. The atmosphere is quite and calm but that's probably because it's almost always dead here and no people. Other then that the decorations were nice and welcoming. Ordered off of DoorDash tonight and was pretty disappointed. First they forgot my horchata and then when I went for my chille relleno I realized that it was made with a canned chille !! Tacho's has an authentic, extensive menu, good food. The service isn't bad but not what you would consider their strength. We've been here a few times and they keep us satisfied enough to keep on coming back. The chips and salsa here were amazing tonight - I asked for refills on both which is probably why I couldn't finish my dinner. I had the chicken mole enchiladas and they were great. My wife had the chimichanga and the house margarita - enjoying both of them. The ambiance is also not their strongest suite - I felt like I was running an obstacle course when we were leaving. Perhaps a lot of what we were experiencing is the true culture shining out and maybe with a more open mind and acceptance of cultural differences we would enjoy it more. All I know is the food is pretty darn tasty, the wife like it to, it's close to where we live so it's an easy choice that we'll make again read more

This has been our go to go Mexican food in Oregon city since 2017. Was always very good food and service. Since the the covid 19 situation the food has been inconsistent and lower quality. We have mostly done takeout and supported them until now. They have always acted like there salsa is like gold and usually only give you 2 small containers regardless of how may meals you order. We like more so I ordered a large side of salsa and because of that the didn't give me the two they usually give us with the order. So the combination of declining food quality and just being cheap. You left me no choice Tacho's.... Long story short every time we order enchiladas we ask for a side of lettuce because I love me some shredded lettuce on top on my cheese enchiladas. When I suggested Tacho's for dinner tonight I got shut down because "they always forget the lettuce". I decided I would just call the restaurant soon after placing the order to remind them to include it with our order because it's always overlooked. That's when the gentleman on the phone informed me that they charge for a side of shredded lettuce and they don't have the ability to add it as an extra on DoorDash. (So you're telling me after placing a $40 order you cant throw in some ICEBERG shredded lettuce?) I'm not asking for a whole tomato or bag of chips. I'm asking for a handful of lettuce.... for my damn enchilada.. He tells me "this time" he will let the kitchen know. But not to expect it going forward. I bit my tongue on the phone but what I wanted to say was "that would be great and in the future I won't order here again". After all of this, we get our order and guess what...... On a recent late afternoon visit in Oregon City, we decided to dine at Tacho's' for our dinner. It is our first visit. The dining room is modesty full, with a slight aroma wafting in the air from the kitchen. The setting is relaxed, putting us both at ease. Also, the dining room is spotless. Promptly seated, the menu is a large, diverse one with creative and traditional selections offered to the diner. Our server was a very personable and upbeat woman who greeted us eagerly. We ordered ice tea with lemon and received colored water- with lemon. Very disappointing. Later I raised our concerns with the server, who offered slight resistance. However, she politely asked if we would like a replacement. I asked if the replacement was from the same batch, which she affirmed, so we declined the offer. We both decided on combination plates of chicken enchiladas, Chile Relleno, tamales, and tacos. We also ordered guacamole to accompany our meal while the attending wait-help delivered crisp tortilla chips along with the house salsa to the table. Our plates arrived along with the guacamole and demonstrated very generous portions for us both. The guacamole- a blend of fresh avocado, crema Mexicana, chopped onion, and tomato we both found very flavorful. The enchilada, taco, beans, rice were quite lovely. The chicken enchilada, in particular, was stuffed with moist, succulent white meat. The enchilada sauce was on the bland side. The tamale was well sized and filled with a red chili pork shred. However, the masa was terrible, and there was much too much wrapping the filing. Again the sauce was bland. The real tragedy is with the Chile Relleno. Tiny in size, the egg battered (canned) chile laid saturated in a pool of grease and was a great disappointment. Although the Chile Relleno came freshly cooked, it lost all points because of the canned chile and the meager serving of queso Mexicana stuffing. We decided to bring the leftovers home and asked for a to-go box. We also agreed that our server was impressive and tipped her well. We conclude by saying the prices are affordable, but we shall not return and score Tacho's with two stars. read more

Tacho's, I have supported you for years to include many takeout orders throughout COVID. Tonight, we ordered takeout and we were given the completely wrong order. We don't live very close but my daughter called and asked if they had the correct order and they laughed (not funny to us) and said they did. My daughter drove all the way back to pick up the correct order and had them read it all back to her. They didn't offer to comp any of our food or to give us some free dessert-standard ways to say sorry when you want to keep customers. My daughter got home with the food and It was still the wrong order despite having been read back to her correctly...and it was cold from having sat so long. What should have been enchilada suizas was classic enchiladas with red sauce which I can't even eat due to a stomach condition. We called to let them know and they were reluctant to do anything. Eventually they offered to let me have the correct meal for free when I come back in the future. When you mess up that many times, send an Uber to bring your customers the correct food, refund their money, do something to make your customers feels heard!! I wasn't able to eat any of the food...there is a reason why customers make specific orders , getting the order "close" is not good enough and nor is Tachos customer service. I will be looking for another local Mexican restaurant to support. read more

Argued with the Mgr., and unfortunately I have decided after 18 years as a loyal customer, I will not be going back.
