Needed to find a good brunch spot in Oregon City for our group. I made a reservation at Canard for & of us which was very easy. Arrived at 10am and we were seated immediately. Our waitress Susie was very friendly and brought us coffee and drinks while we perused the menu. I decided on the American standard with Bacon. Food came out in a timely fashion. Everyone raved about the food, especially the eggs Benedict. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great brunch spot read more

It was a long day at the farm dealing with cherry harvest so we put on our "cleanest" clothes and dropped into Canard at 6:00pm on the Saturday night before Father's Day - the place was really busy but this place does a gracious flex- got a seat at the bar, which we actually love and a really good stiff drink plus some wonderful plates mine were were crab crepes and asparagus with morels - partner did steak frite - plenty for fried for both of us and no one anywhere does a better job with fries. What a great finish to a long day and they didn't batt at an eye at our clean but sort of sticky selves. We love this place and so will you. read more

My birthday isn't for another two weeks, and I'll be up in Alaska working, so we decided to do a little early celebration dinner. They surprised me with a cake, and honestly, that was a classy touch. How have I not known about Canard? What a gem in our city! First, the decor was lovely. I was in awe of the dried flower bouquet on that wall. I booked on OpenTable and added a note that my mother needed a wall to place her crutches against, and they gave us 2 options. Very kind of them, and the gentleman helped my mother get situated. Service was exceptional. Food menu seemed light but enough of a variety to choose from, and it all was absolutely delicious. Had the drink School for Ants which the taste was of perfection. For lunch we shared the pears and goat cheese which by far was my favorite dish. Also ordered the ricotta gnocchi which I thought the bourguignon was a little strong but I believe that's normal, so it's just my personal preference. The Tokyo hot chicken tenders were tender and juicy, and the honey and sauce paired well together. Shout out to the staff that brought our forgotten to go box to our car. Did the lunch. Everything was thoughtful and well executed. The service was friendly and well done. The appetizer of burrata was a "how can we do anything close to this at home because we must have it again" type of experience. The fries were good and the French dip was smokey and filling. We each got a steam burger which was good but not worth skipping other things on the menu. There are better burger spots in PDX but I can see why they are popular. We have friends that moved to this area and we come to visit them for great food and wine tasting. The last visit we went to Le Pigeon, which was amazing, so we decided to try their sister restaurant Canard this time. Very different more casual vibe, but still great food. We shared several tapas between us and every one was somewhere between really good to great. Some great wine pairings as well. Some of the highlights were the oeufs en mayonnaise and tuna tartare. read more

Service was very nice and helpful but the food was honestly very mediocre for the price. I was hoping to get steak frites but it was Salisbury steak frites. And it wasn't real Salisbury steak either. It was quite bland and chewy. Fries were decent but drowning in a layer of oil on the plate. I'm used to laurelhurst steak house so maybe my expectations have been set high. If you're in the mood for appetizers and salads that will set the bar high, this spot absolutely delivers. The broccoli salad is a standout--crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a creamy dressing that's neither too heavy nor too light. Then there's the steam burgers, which are nothing short of phenomenal. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, they provide a satisfying bite with every mouthful. The oeufs en mayonnaise is another great choice--simple, yet so delicious. And the mac and cheese? Pure comfort food at its finest, with a rich, cheesy sauce and the perfect amount of creaminess. However, when it comes to the entrees, the experience wasn't as smooth. After about an hour of waiting, we finally received our dishes. The duck frites, while flavorful, were a bit of a letdown. The duck was slightly overcooked, which made it a little dry, and it was heavy-handed with the salt. The frites, on the other hand, were crispy but could've used more seasoning to balance out the richness of the duck. Overall, the appetizers and salads are a definite win, and though the entrees left something to be desired, the great start made it a meal worth trying. The surprise of the century is that Sunday mornings at Canard seem to be an ideal time to visit. We arrived on a midsummer morning with a 10AM reservation only to a discover a completely empty restaurant! Folks started strolling in around 10:30, and by the time we left the place seemed just like any other spot serving breafast in the Portland area. So here's the tip: If you're tired of brunch lines in Portland, head down to Canard in Oregon City for a fast-track to getting seated. Canard has been on my list for a very long time, and for whatever reason, I'm one of the last people to check out this very popular place. Located in downtown OC, the gorgeous brick building has it's own tiny parking lot in the back. The interior of the restaurant has a spacious contemporary feel with floor to ceiling windows, and there are variety of seating arrangements whether you're seeking privacy or comraderie. I was a little unimpressed with the server who seated us and took our order. They adequately fulfilled all of our needs, but they seemed very subdued and disengaged. I'm not expecting handstands and dad jokes, but it's helpful to at least feel welcomed... especially since most of us were first-timers, and we were celebrating a birthday. I ordered the Tokyo hot chicken and waffle and I feel like I may have chosen the wrong dish. There are plenty of amazing items on the menu, and I've heard friends describe the wonderful meals they've had at Canard. But the chicken I received was uninspired and overcooked. The meat lacked any tenderness and the Koji honey seemed dried, hard and possibly burnt on the exterior. It wasn't a pleasant taste. However, the oefs en mayonnaise appetizer was delicious, as was the gnocchi my husband ordered. I feel like I simply ordered the wrong dish on the wrong day - things happen! I'm honestly kicking myself for not ordering the duck stack as it sounds amazing! Canard's positive reputation makes me feel like things may have just been "off" that morning. The restaurant is beautiful with a lot of lovely design choices made in everything from building materials to wallpaper. There are colorful floral arrangements throughout the building, and the dining room is a perfect place to sit and take in the hustle and bustle of downtown Oregon City. I hope to return and experience the restaurant all my friends have told me about. read more

My gal pal and I meet here regularly and it's always lovely. The interior is full of natural light and modern but cozy furnishings. We've been lucky to get a corner booth the last few times, which is ideal. I love the creative craft mocktails and cocktails and the food is always good. This was an anniversary dinner. Service was top notch. Our server was professional, knowledgeable, and attentive without being TOO attentive. We loved her. The restaurant was surprisingly noisy, but thankfully we were given a cozy table away from the main dining area. (Hint: Ask for a cozy table when you make your reservation of you will be in the potentially LOUD main area of the restaurant.) My husband had the rabbit with mustard sauce, and although he's enjoyed rabbit before, he thought the mustard sauce was overpowering the delicate taste of the rabbit. I had the butternut squash gnocchi and I savored those tender pillows of deliciousness. We both raved about our favorite part of the meal: the crispy broccoli side (with miso ricotta and pecan chili crunch.) FANTASTIC! Those flavors worked together beautifully. I had two non alcohol drinks. The caramelized pineapple shrub and soda was delightful and refreshing. I also enjoyed the mocktail "making fetch happen." My husband had Earl Grey tea, and they kept the hot water coming. The experience was pleasant but our server really made the experience. She belongs at someplace like The Peak at Hudson Yards in NYC. After dining I wondered why I waited so long to try this place. We had the Tokyo Hot Chicken Tender and the Pear salad. The chicken tenders were perfectly crunchy and juicy with a delicious glaze, no dipping sauce needed. My first bite of the salad had my mouth bursting with flavor; the sauce or dressing was sooo good I basically licked the plate clean. I have to mention that I have never liked goat cheese but I ate every crumble on the salad. For our main course we tried the Gnocchi and the braised rabbit. Neither of which I have tried before and if you haven't either, I highly recommend trying them here! I was scared the rabbit would be an acquired taste but it exceeded my expectations, tender and tasty! As for the Gnocchi it was everything I ever hoped it would be. I've been going to the Portland location for about eight years and have always had great experiences, so I chose to celebrate my birthday at the Oregon City location. The food was good, but the service really affected the night. Our server was very flat and disengaged from the start. When we politely mentioned that one of the dishes wasn't working for us, her immediate response was simply, "What's wrong with it?" -- not asking if we'd like something different or offering solutions. It felt more defensive than helpful, and from that point on, her attitude noticeably shifted. She became even more distant, and it seemed like she no longer wanted to serve our table. Other staff stepped in, which we appreciated, but the tone of the experience had already changed. Because they knew it was my birthday, the lack of warmth stood out even more. Even the dessert we ordered was brought out with a very blunt, emotionless "happy birthday." I still really love the Portland location and will continue going there, but this experience at the Oregon City location left me unsure about returning. Hospitality is a big part of the experience, and it just didn't feel present here. read more

Every time I'm in the area (which is every time I visit my friends who live in West Linn) I beg, plead, and cajole to go here. Brunch, lunch, dinner, ANY MEAL ANY TIME, I want to go to Canard. I'm obsessed. I want to eat the foie gras dumplings every day of my life. Their cocktails are amazing, their wine selections are can't-miss, and every single entree no matter what day, time, or year you come is going to knock it out of the park. Does anyone look at Yelp anymore? I don't, but wanted to give a positive review to Canard OC. Driving way too far in one day, we had a chance to stop for an early dinner (4PM!) here just after opening on a Monday. I normally wouldn't expect a great experience this time and day of week from anyplace, but everything was excellent, with perfect mushrooms in sauce on the duck plate, perfect frites and "bernaise" (sorry, picky about menu typos), and foie dumplings with Tom kha broth, peanut, orange, basil that was one of the best bites of the year. I've been to the Portland Canard a few times and liked it, and to Le P more times than I can count including during their opening weeks. The OC branch is presenting a perfect little bistro experience in a lovely setting, with a thoughtful staff and a friendly and knowledgeable bartender. We had a great dinner tonight 2/12 for a friends birthday.There was a mix up on our reservation of 7 people due to 100% our fault so they didn't have an inside table but they were very accommodating and set us up in the back heated covered patio room which worked out perfect. A few of us sat at the bar for a minute why we waited for others to get there and bartender was very friendly and made a great margarita. Our server was wonderful too and food was great. read more

went out here with coworkers to celebrate christmas. we were seated in the enclosed heated outdoor seating area - it got really hot and really cold fast and easily because doors were consistently opening and closing while the servers were helping us. the space also had a couple multiple hook coat hangers. the service was amazing, super kind, and accomodating! as someone who loves food with a flavor bomb, canard delivers that. in addition to the flavor bomb, there were two dishes i tried that were REALLY salty.. the first dish i tried was the salisbury steak, i tried it, i had a few other people try it as well and we all concluded that it was way to salty, almost beyond edible. i had asked for it to be redone less salty and when it came out again, it was a fresh plate with fresh fries. however, the steak was like 5% less salty. i feel like it would be edible if i had some rice with it. i ended up sending it back and ordered the duck frites and had to go. i tried the duck from my friend beforehand and it was really good - wishing i had ordered it in the first place. the other dish that i tried was the baked halibut. the halibut itself was plain with no seasoning at all. the chowder the halibut was bathing in was creamy and delicious but really salty..more bearable than the salisbury steak. out of all the appetizers i tried (and entrees) i tried, the oeufs en mayonnaise was my favorite dish of the evening - i wouldve eaten this the whole evening if i could. read more

After wanting to experience French cuisine for the longest, we've settled on Canard. We came on a very early Saturday and the place had just opened. The server was super helpful and patient with us as we familiarized ourselves with the menu. We had ordered the Deviled eggs, french toast sticks, and the potatoes to start. They were great! The deviled eggs had a unique flavor profile that blended everything together in one bite. It was sweet, but had great texture. The french toast was also a hit. The cream with the accent of tart complimented each other very well. The only downside to the dish was that it was a little overcooked. We had wished it was more fluffy, but still great flavor!. The potatoes were a hit as well. They were cheesy and aromatic. Lastly, we ended things off with the Duck Stack. Presentations wise, Wow! It looks cool and garnished fantastically. The flavor on it wasn't what we had expected. It was on the sweeter side and we were thinking of more on the savory side. The steam burgers were good and pretty much just like the one's at White Castle if you have ever visited that midwestern fast food chain...but these are better. Fries were also very good. When they announced that they'd be starting brunch I knew I had to make that 30 minute drive to check it out - and I am so glad I did. It was all amazing. The service was top notch of course. Our server was so attentive, friendly, and so nice with my kiddo. A great balance of checking in and giving us space. All the food was incredible and would gladly order it all again. Canard Oregon City just keeps getting better. My wife and I love their brunch. It's one of the best in the area by far and you won't find a greater variety of food at this high a level of quality anywhere else. I love their poached eggs with potatoes. The eggs are always hot and cooked to perfection. The potatoes are like none you've had anywhere else. They are hot and seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside and fluffy and hot in the inside. The surprise if the brunch is the French toast. I love French toast but this French toast like you have never had any else. You have to experience them to get what I am talking about. Lastly I love their poached eggs and potatoes. The eggs are cooked perfectly every time and delicious. The potatoes are a delicious delicacy unto themselves. I guarantee you have never had potatoes like these. Crispy on the outside and wonderfully seasoned but fluffy and delicious on the inside. The French toast cannot be properly described because Canard's French Toast is second to none and an unusual treat. Just order them and then you will know exactly what I am talking about. The Steam sliders were a group favorite, they tasted ok to me, there wasn't anything noteworthy on how it's made compared to the intricacies of the other menu items. The ouefs are a fun twist to a deviled egg. It was cooked perfectly with enough gooey yolk in the middle!! Plenty of room to come here with a group and lots of parking. read more

This is a pretty satisfying brunch. I've been to the other location and got the duck stack but I wasn't quite as hungry and this time I had my wife the pescatarian so time to pivot. We started with the shrimp Cocktail lettuce wraps. Very fresh and flavorful. I feel like either one more shrimp or slightly bigger ones would have made it. Then the spaghetti squash. The wife was a huge fan. I am anti squash so I take her word for it. The roasted mushrooms were lots of fun. Great quality mushrooms and a little late heat to make it interesting.
