    3 Crunchy Tacos Combo

What can I say? It's a regular Taco Bell. Nothing too fancy and also nothing too boring. Food was good for the price and not terribly made. The food was ordered via the touchscreens which worked as a benefit as the only person whom was on the counter was a worker taking a "break" by watching videos on her phone. Restaurant was very clean and not busy for a Friday night. The new redesign makes the open space concept very different and industrial furniture doesn't help the look I picture when I think of Taco Bell.

Proof that I tried all 3 desserts side by side.

I've been to this location several times, just your average Taco Bell. But the hidden gem on the menu is the reason I came here tonight: to do a Taco Bell dessert ranking. I've gone through multiple periods of my life where each was my go-to sweet tooth quencher, but it's time to put the cards down: 3) Cinnamon Twists - They look like a churro, they are covered in cinnamon sugar like a churro, they are fried liked a churro, but that's where the similarities end. Which means they are pretty darn similar... Anyway, they are like little crunchy pieces of DNA. Also reminiscent of a chicharrones, could easily be confused if not for the toss in cinnamon sugar. Sometimes you can get on order where they aren't all the way coated, but these had just the right amount of coating. They are pretty forgerable though compared alongside the other options. 2) Caramel Apple Empanada - Hard decision, but had to place this one 2nd. This dessert ruined all apple pies for me, including homemade. Unpopular opinion: this is the best apple pie in the world. The top has a (what I would assume to be) crispy caramel crust. The pie dough is buttery, soft, and perfectly fried. Polar opposite of a McDonald's pie. And the inside. The way the apples are diced so small makes them very tender. And the caramel sauce filling is amazing. I can't bear to eat apple pie at holidays because it makes me want to drive out and get one of these bad boys. 1) Cinnabon Delights - I immediately regretted only getting 2 when I arrived home. These are what the cinnamon twists aspire to be. Though not the shape of a churro, I would nearly consider it one. Crispy fried, tossed in cinnamon sugar, pillowy dough on the inside. And it's filled with cinnamon roll icing. Should have the option of getting a chocolate sauce on the side. The texture of them is created in a way that it just melts in your mouth. Absolutely addicting.

I was greeted at the speaker by a clear and friendly man who repeated my order, got the type of sauce I was interested in, and thanked me before telling me to pull around.

I wasn't looking for anything specific to eat but this place called to me so I whipped into the parking lot and headed in! This is such a homey type of place that puts a lot of pride and joy in their food and showing off Latin culture. Los Alvarez Exxpress Latin Food is a local mom and pop spot on the corner of Gardere and Burbank next to the S&P Food Store/Chevron gas station. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect going in but what I got was a lot of warmth and comfort. This is a place for Latin locals to relax and get a bit of familiarity and good food. I dined in and ordered the Granadas Catrachas. Catrachas are traditionally known as Honduran tostadas. Los Alvarez puts their spin on it by using Granada flour to create a puff pocket and stuff it with meat, rice and cheese and serve it with encurtido (Honduran pickled vegetables). I ordered one with chicken and one with beef. The serving was huge and absolutely delicious! I was only able to eat one. That, on top of the chips and salsa and black bean dip had me full for the rest of the day! Everyone that works there is friendly and for a second you don't feel like you're in Baton Rouge. This is a magical place.

I will go back and continue to try a new dishes ! But they also have tacos and burritos. The drinks were good too!!! Service was awesome. Gloria was our waitress and she provided some assistance with the choices made. We ate in the bar area. It wasn't spicy like most salsa that I taste, but it also had a different flavor. I couldn't really put my finger on what the difference was, but it was really good. I ordered the Carne Asada and it was 10 out of 10 for presentation. The dish came steaming, sizzling and smoking as they sat it down and it continued to do so for over a minute. While the steak was cooked properly, medium well as I requested, it was very tough. Maybe it was an angry cow. Regardless, the staff was very attentive. And the service was very fast. Ambience was nice and it felt very comfortable although it was a bit cold so I had to go and get a jacket for my mom and my sister-in-law. I would give them another try the next time I'm in the area. The menu had a few options that I would be interested in.

I haven't been here for at least seven maybe possibly 10 years since Renee Ortlieb was the owner…read more The reason I came back to try it today was because after a visit to La Mexicana a few days ago only to learn it has closed (and it had become my staple for the area of authentic Mexican). To my surprise, la Tienda Latina is a Honduran restaurant. To my taste Honduran food is blander then real Mexican food. After reading the reviews, I ordered a Mexican coke and an appetizer while I looked at the menu. The friendly English speaking waitress brought salsa and chips to the table, along with my Coke and ample sized appetizer. Shortly after she returned with the Honduran tamale ( chose pork vs chicken). She also brought two condiment bottles of homemade sauces, both green tomatillo and red chili .. both very standard at authentic places. The salsa and chips were nice and fresh tasting and I particularly liked the green sauce with the tamale sauce. Realizing how much food this was already I decided just to order a side of refried beans and some Mexican Crema, which was actually perfect, and I had food to bring home because I only ate half of the tamale and about a fourth of the beans which were delicious. The tamale did need extra flavor although it was packed with potatoes and rice and chunks of cooked roast type pork, and a few peas I think. For the price I think it's quite a bargain to fill up on. However, I filled up quickly by drinking a second Mexican Coke, and had an extra order of the salsa with the chips. I dipped the chips in the beans which were absolutely probably my favorite dish of all. La Tienda won't replace the flavors and menu formerly offered at La Mexicana. I'll have to find another place that has similar type food, but I did enjoy my experience here. However Hondorian food isn't what I get cravings for. Yet, the restaurant was tidy and clean, although I didn't go to the restroom, which is always very telling of how clean a restaurant is. Btw, I know Mexican cokes are usually very pricey, but the idea of paying eight dollars for two medium (quantity) cokes is annoying, but the price of on tap cold drinks has gone up significantly as well around the Baton Rouge area, so often I just have to order water in order to enjoy a sit down meal eating out without paying a total cost of what I used to consider to be premium dinner time treat when I'm just looking for a quick afternoon lunch. Due to my budget lunch (appetizer & 2 sides) selection today I went ahead & ordered a 2nd bottle, and quite enjoyed it, and therefore I have leftovers to enjoy later. I will keep reading other food reviews made here so I can return again and try something else and just maybe I'll find a new favorite!

Immediately upon walking in, I loved all of the colors and the vibes of this Mexican restaurant. When you sit down, they bring chips and salsa to your table. I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa or the chips. The chips had some seasoning on them and to me, it didn't mix well with the salsa. The salsa was really thin, and I prefer a chunky salsa with a salted thick chip lol. I was feeling adventurous and got the French toast on the brunch menu. It was delicious! The berry compote and the two different syrups paired really well with it. The bacon that it came with was perfection. I ate every last bite. I did have a bite of my friends tacos, and they were good but on smaller side in my opinion. Our waitress was great and there were plenty of tvs to watch while we waited. But, we never waited long for anything!

This is definitely Tex-Mex rather than traditional Mexican, but it hits the spot if that's what you're craving. The real standout is the decor and ambiance, especially after renovating and expanding. Their yearly Cinco de Mayo party is also always fun and a vibe! Overall, still a solid spot in Baton Rouge for Tex-Mex and close to LSU campus.
