Only tbell in existence to know when to toss stale food out. I have gone here for the last three years and randomly went to check their yelp.. shocked at two stars. Spotless in there, all food is properly portioned, rice/tortillas never stale. Service is always with a smile. I was doing an Uber Eats delivery for one Stephanie N., and I kept getting jerked around by the kitchen staff, waiting 30+ minutes on the order to even arrive. One staff member says it'll take 10 minutes before it arrives... then another staff member says a couple more orders.... And what are they doing?? They're focusing on everyone else's orders (which were also taking forever; idk how these UCI students have this much patience)!! Another staff member later says they haven't even worked on it yet! My teenage daughter was 20 min later than scheduled time to pickup her order (~$20 value) today. The order was gone, most likely picked up by wrong person. Oddly, the manager got mad at her. Right away, she suspected my daughter cheating and flag her name after remaking the order. My daughter is a very innocent girl and horrified by such a bad treatment. I went to drive thru and the employee by the name of Desiderio M was so rude, she snatched my Debit card from my hand then hands me my drink/straw, receipt and card back ALL AT THE SAME TIME. As I go to put my drink in my cup holder she was already waving my bag of food in my window saying "here". I grabbed it and she shut the drive thru window. Very poor customer service. read more

The new AI drive-thru reception is absolutely awful. It isn't even able to do some of the simple modifications like a side of black beans. Also, it forces the customer to order at a certain pace because it is not responsive until it finishes a question or sentence. I understand the desire to take advantage of new technologies that exist, but we don't need them in a drive thru all the time. It would make sense if the drive thru AI is only used during busy hours, but it does not make sense for it to be on all the time. I hope this new technology isn't an excuse to pay workers even less. read more

Mountain Dew Baja Blast Gelato 5.00/10- Taco Bell is testing a Mountain Dew Baja Blast flavored gelato for the first time only in Irvine, so we had to try it. Tbh it tastes like a regular Mountain Dew Baja blast freeze, but it's more of an airy taste. It's very light, and not as icey. It's not as creamy as regular gelato or Icecream however it's just a tad creamier than the freeze. Honestly it makes more sense if they released it as a sorbet as it aligns more closely with that than gelato. It's not too sweet either. There was a weird after taste- like a cross or something sour and mouthwash. The color is spot on though, and the cup is really cute. I like how they did the spoon in lid as it's convenient and it's a single serving. Today was the first day of the testing and I believe it lasts until supplies are out. I walked into this location two weeks ago and was greeted with a sticky floor from the front door to the soft drink machine. Today two weeks later the floors are still a sticky mess. Kind of wonder what the kitchen is like. Surprising considering this location is down the street from corporate head quarters. The smell reminds me of a well lived in frat, it is across the street from UCI, so I guess it should be expected. Taco Bell is something I find myself consistently craving. The tacos and crunch wraps have great flavor that are only enhanced by the hot sauce. The nacho fries are something I always get when they come back. My favorite item to get is the beef quesadilla. It has the perfect level of heat and good portions of meat and cheese. My only problem that I find myself having is that I can't get enough hot sauce packets for my tacos. I think there's a limit on how many someone's allowed. read more

It wasn't my turn to pick a spot for lunch at work, so here I was. I eat at Taco Bell maybe once every 10 years. However I do like their chalupa. It reminds me a little of the Indian fried bread that I've eaten in Arizona only it's nowhere near as good. Anyways I decided to order their Double Chalupa Box to check it out. The cashier was nice, quick, and friendly. *Double Chalupa Box* Everything came conveniently packaged in a box. It was a decent amount of food for 5 bucks! It came with a double Chalupa, nacho cheese Doritos locos taco, crunchy taco, and a medium drink. Junk food at its finest. However the double chalupa was unimpressive and definitely not double the amount of beef or anything. They had a little station with their condiments just directly across from where you order. You can grab some while you wait for your food to come out. For what it was, it tasted fine. However later that evening I had a bout of diarrhea. Coincidence? I don't think so. Some people's bodies can process junk food from Taco Bell, but mine will reject it or react poorly. read more

Ah yes. Lets lock the doors at 11am. Next to a campus. On a weekday. My disabled father in law needed to use the bathroom, and he had to walk all the way to the door and back to the car with no hope. While we witnessed many groups of students trying to open the door. If its because of COVID restrictions, that is a very outdated reason considering EVERYTHING is open indoors now. *Review is for the new seasoned fries and loaded fries supreme As this location is the only one to release these 2 new items for a limited time only, I knew I had to act fast. In my past I've always been a fan of the Bell. I love their sauces and their meat, or "meat", not sure which but I still love it. Also in my youth, I've always mistaken taco bell for having fries when they indeed did NOT. But now my dreams have finally come true. Not only did they introduce fries, but they're SEASONED fries, sticking true to their crazy food inventions. Then to top it off, they offer the loaded fries, imagine their nachos, but with fries. YUMMMM. The verdict? The fries looked delish as well as tasted delish. The seasoning is slightly sweet, slightly salty, and sprinkled with something red I couldn't tell what. When I got to Taco Bell at noon, I was surprised to find the place empty on school grounds. I wanted this place to be crowded so that I get the freshest cooked fries. So mine came out to be warm but not THAT fresh. But who cares, for .50 cents a pop, I'll take these hot or cold any day. The loaded fries were also easy on the eyes as well as my palate. Loaded with nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, ground beef, and a sprinkling of diced tomatoes, these made the perfect comfort food. I had been craving nacho cheese sauce for a while now and these hit the spot. Although these were great, next time, I would stick to my fries since I'm still a traditionalist at heart. For me, this was a perfect size portion, anymore and I would've had to stop because it would've become too much. For $1 a pop, these are a steal!! I was moving in to university housing on a Saturday and starving by the time it turned noon, I decided to get in n out really quickly with my fam. But of course the lines were long so we decided to go to Taco Bell right across the way.I stopped eating fast food a while back so I was a bit annoyed that my first time in a while was going to be Taco Bell. However, my thoughts quickly changed after I ordered and the food took just the right amount of time to come about:7 minutes. It made me think it wasn't pre-prepared but it was still quick enough for fast food. Nachos supreme: surprising good. You can't expect LA Mexican food quality, obviously, but it got the job done and it was gone in 30 seconds. Pretty small portion, which is good for self-control as well. Crunchwrap supreme: reminds me of college days. It was everything bad...but in a good way. Super rich in cheese and sour cream, with meat and lettuce. I didn't like how all the cheese was down at the bottom of my wrap so that my last couple of bites were mainly cheese, but still, it's a good bang for the buck and will always be my go-to for Taco Bell. Crunchy tacos: always the same ole, but this Taco Bell was a bit skimpy with the meat. It's nice when these tacos are stuffed so well that each bite topples out ingredients, but this location had none of that. However, I really liked this place because of the friendly service. The cashier was all smiles and he really made my tiring day somewhat bearable. Thanks so much, dude. They were totally understaffed this morning...the waffle with bacon combo took awhile ...but the woman in the back who prepared it forgot to give me my syrup...So I had wait in line again. Then I asked about my coffee... but coffee wasn't ready yet. She said their.coffee had to be individually brewed...What?. That is nuts..So much for having coffee with my meal. The waffle combo isn't bad.It's scrambled eggs with bacon bits and American cheese on top. All this stiff in placed inside a waffle so it looks like a waffle taco. Total Calories is 320, and more if you have sausage instead of bacon bits. A few of us had to wait for our coffee, so I sat down. Then, the cashier gave other people who were behind me in line their coffee first..So when I approached the counter, the cashier did not apologize...he just said.."Ok" with that "I don't I care?" look on his face. Anyway, it took almost 20 from ordering my food to getting my coffee. And I realize now...I was nuts coming here today. And I realize, it's not totally the staff's fault for lousy service. Normally, managers come out of their cubby hole office and help out when busy. Not today. And PS...to past reviewers...I did not see any Kentucky Fried Chicken items here. Worst customer service, went inside and didn't get helped so I went to the drive thru and the worker was rude arguing with me and got my order wrong trying to charge me for multiple combos when I only ordered one item. I had found a French fry and chicken in my Mexican pizza and it wasn't sliced either. If I could I would give it 0 stars. The bathrooms were nasty like no one goes and checks them often.The health department AND corporate need to come check this location out. The older woman that was working the window on 5/22 was arguing me down and giving me attitude when I only came for food. Maybe she was having a bad day but that shouldn't be taken out on customers. This Taco Bell has been here forever and a half - before I started college 12 years ago (now I feel old, great). I don't know what others are complaining about - orders here are always super speedy whether dining in or drive thru, they give you tons of sauce unlike other places, and we all know Taco Bell is either love it or hate it, there is no in-between, haha so if you see low stars they were probably expecting a candlelit dinner with violins and white table linens. This is Taco Bell - they give you what you need, lol The dining area is always pretty clean, and this one is pretty quiet since it is right across the street from UCI and people study here. On 9/1/2020, my take out order has missed one small item, Cinnamon twist. Which I thought it was not a big deal. On 9/17, at 5:27 pm, I went to the store to pick up a new order. At the time, I mentioned to the server the missing item on the 9/1 order. The server then gave me a bag and said " this is a cinnamon twist". This is what I found when I got, see the picture. I must share my Horrible experiences at this location; University Center, Irvine. I say "Experiences" because I re-visited to give the Manager the benefit of the doubt. Big Mistake. Unfortunately, the 3 times I was there, they wouldn't ALLOW me to place my order with a Real Person. The Manager Made me use the Kiosk (which I was unfamiliar with) so she said, she would come help me. It took her 10 minutes and I was on my lunch hour. The reason I walked in was for fast service; although, I found out I was thrown into a Que. Doesn't end there. The Manager (female) who is still working there, was Rude, Mean to me, and would only allow me 2 packets of hot sauce with my order. What??? I am salsa queen! I like a lot of salsa packets on my tacos and burritos! I was appalled she and her associates would not give me extra salsa packets And the Associate was holding a huge box of new salsa packets while the Manager told me, "Corporate doesn't allow us to give more than 2 packets per order." You've got to be kidding me. 2 packets per order???? The reason I am leaving this negative review is Corporate needs to re-evaluate your staff. The Manager and staff at the University Center location are extremely Rude, Horrible in Nature, Doesn't know how to treat Customers, Condescending, and DO NOT accommodate customers whatsoever.
