We had a really bad experience and it was all due to the AC not being on, 90 degree heat! As soon as I stepped inside I noticed how hot it was I even mentioned something to the hostess and she said "oh I know right" haha While sitting down, I thought hey maybe it will cool down so we ordered a few drinks and food and me and my husband were sweating!!!! Spicy food + heat= not a good combination! I just wanted to get out the restaurant asap! Our waitress was nice but she seemed in a rush and stress and we didn't even go at lunch time, it was dead inside! Haha. The happy hour here is actually pretty awesome, especially on Taco Tuesday where tacos are also 1/2 off starting at 3pm! Parking is a bit of a nightmare here if you go at the wrong time but go in the parking garage for additional retail and gym parking. The Puesto Perfect Margarita with a little spice (comes out of a tap) is actually pretty delicious for a ready to made cocktail. Bartenders were polite, attentive and great. The bar setup was a bit odd to me at this particular Puesto location has a bit of a strange bar setup because of the short entry way in, but it was pretty standard Pueso look and feel overall. read more

My first time at Puesto Park Place, and don't come for me, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype First of all we had a reservation, and although we were seated fairly quickly, it took quite a bit for our waitress to actually find us and check in on us. Secondly, we were sat next to the open kitchen, but watching the food being made kind of made the experience worse lol? For the prices they charge the way that the food was being prepped was so mediocre that it was hilarious. Also, the kitchen itself looked pretty dirty and the windows that we were sat next to were also hilariously, dirty and splattered with built up grease. The irony of this being that they could have just not done an open kitchen concept, and it would've made it honestly better. The food itself was also pretty mid, nothing really stood out and made me gasp due to it being overly flavorful or unique. The drinks were OK again nothing out of the ordinary. Also, the guacamole was lacking salt... Super disappointing for your guacamole to not hit at an upscale Mexican restaurant. Overall, for the money, I would recommend Javier's over Puesto, the food is better. The service is better and also the ambience and views are better. read more

I've come here for Taco Tuesday twice now - once as a date night and once with our two kids. Both experiences were great! I love that they can accommodate all situations- happy hour, date, families, etc. All tacos are half off for Taco Tuesday. This most recent time we came, I ordered a quesabirria short rib taco, chicken al pastor and mushroom. Each of them came with a piece of crispy fried cheese on top - so delicious!! All of them were so good that it's hard to choose a favorite, but I think the chicken al pastor was the best. It came with a yummy pineapple salsa topping and smoky chipotle sauce. Everything was so flavorful. They have a great kids menu too. My daughter wanted the quesadilla, which came with a hefty serving of guacamole, beans and rice. It was a pretty large serving for a 4 year old. At the end we ordered a tres leches cake to share. I'd say it's probably a good size for sharing between 2-3 people. It was really yummy, though not the best of the best tres leches cake I've ever had. Our server was very patient with us bringing our two high energy kids. The food came pretty quickly, which kept the pace moving well for our kids who can't sit still very long. This is a more up-scale Mexican restaurant in a nice area. The service is good and the whole place is very clean with very nice decor. I had the chicken enchilada. It was pretty good. I particularly liked the sliced avocado. The sauce was pretty mild... A bit too mild for my taste and I had to add some hot sauce to give it a bit more flavor. You'll see from the picture that the dish comes with just 1 enchilada. Most Mexican restaurants give you 2, though this one is probably a little larger than most. Also, there's no rice or beans. And the enchilada didn't have any cheese either inside or on top. Considering what they're charging for this ... I expected a little more of anything. My friend had the short rib bowl and he said it was very good. Considering the price -- it had better be. We had to ask for chips 3 times before we finally got them ... Overall, the food is good and the place has a very nice decor and feel. But I felt like the value was not there. The food was good, but not so amazing to justify a price that's probably 50% to 100% more than you'd find at a basic Mexican restaurant. read more

The Best food & Space is at Puesto Park Place I had a fantastic dining experience at Puesto in Irvine at Park Place. Right across from North Italia, this establishment rocked my senses. Let me start off by saying, I made a reservation error and the staff, especially the hostess Maureen and manager went above and beyond to seat us comfortably. The establishment was spotless, and the staff was so friendly and attentive. Shout out to Ale and Joanna for being kind, generous and knowledgeable. Even when they brought us the wrong dessert, they didn't charge us, but they still insisted we try it. Im not sure if it was due to the time of day we went but the timing was impeccable for our food. Our orders came out so fast, as if they were reading our minds. I truly love when the service and the food match the beautiful atmosphere. We got the guacamole flight which came with 3 incredible flavors, but the mango with pomegranate stole the show. Then, we had the chicken al pastor taco, marinated in hibiscus which is very unique! And the surf-and-turf taco were bomb. For dessert, they first brought us pistachio tres leches cake, though the cake was great, I wasn't a fan of the zest-heavy cream; I would have preferred a strawberry topping instead. But the churro sundae... babyyyyy now that was next level. Vanilla ice cream, churro bites, pistachio crumble, a cajeta drizzle, and dark chocolate chunks. I'd come back just for that, especially in summer with a cocktail. Puesto knows how to impress, and I can't wait to return! Pro tips: * Park in the structure and don't worry, they validate. * The door is heavy like a whale but it does open. * If you have allergies to nuts, let them know as many items are incorporated with nuts. * Come on Wednesdays as they have girl dinner (tailored menu for 40 bucks per person) which sounds like a time. * Oh and make reservations( just make sure it's the right location) * Lastly, if you sit in a booth on either side the views are amazing. I met with two friends for a business lunch on 8/4. We thought we could make this our go to place since we all work in the area, but reality was about to ruin our day. It all started at the entrance. The hostess, an Asian woman, was so RUDE to us. She had an extremely condescending attitude in the way she greeted us and asked us if we had reservations. Then she took us to a table all the way to the end. We had to ask her to move us to a better table. The place was almost empty and never got packed during our time there. Then a young server brings our iced tea and spills one all over my friend and her expensive purse; at least he was apologetic. We had to clean our own table with our napkins. They did not even bother to help until we begged for more napkins, which they brought after a while. They didn't clean properly and left many of the ice cubes on the table for a while. The restaurant did not look busy at all, so we were wondering why they were taking so long to attend us. Then we ordered our food which was just MEDIOCRE. We asked for enchiladas with no meat because one of my friends is vegetarian but were told that the enchiladas were pre-rolled and no changes could be made. My enchiladas were so hard that both the tortilla and meat were hard to cut. Once we left, I noticed a 4% surcharge on the bill on top of the tip I left (BTW, they did not charge us for the tea they showered my friend with. But, "coincidence" or not, there are other reviews stipulating the same experience. They felt unwelcomed and a drink was spilled all over them.) Then at the bottom they still begged for more tip. Anyway, even though the service was horrible and they did not welcome us there, we still tipped them as we should have. I find it hard to believe that a place like that would fail with enchiladas. What a joke! The owner is from Mexico City! At the end, we wanted to drink coffee, and they told us they had run out and only had one kind. So, we ordered. Then the waitress returns to say that they ran out of all coffee (At lunch time...really). Man!!! everything was WRONG!! Almost like they wanted us out of there. We kept our cool the entire time and we treated the employees politely at all times. In conclusion, this was a horrible experience with high prices, TACO BELL like food deplorable customer service. They may not care, but I will never go back and DO NOT appreciate a hostess that appeared to be racially profiling us. That was probably what hurt the most. We were very disappointed and we will let everyone we know NEVER to visit this place. Unfortunately, there is no way I can leave zero stars. NOTE: This review had already been deleted by either yelp or the restaurant. Also the owner sent me a note offering me a gift card, which I declined because my dignity is much more expensive than that and I would not validate their thought that we just wanted free food. My recommendation to him was to train his employees to show respect for his customers. I also went on FB, IG and Google to post the same review. We went to Puesto for a team dinner on a Tuesday night. It was a taco Tuesday so tacos were half off, however it feels kinda crazy to pay the full price for the tacos. The service was great and there was tons of seating. It did feel a little loud in the place, but nothing too overwhelming for conversations. We got the guac and elote. The elote was pretty good and on par for what you'd expect. The guac tasted like there was a lot of lime in it (this is a pro for me since I love lime). I got the quesabirria taco and was thrown off that it wasn't the typical goat meat and didn't have any consume to compliment it. I also thought it was an interesting twist that the cheese was fried around the meat. It wasn't bad, but again I only felt fine paying for the tacos since it was half off. I don't think people come here for authentic Mexican food, more so for the vibes and maybe drinks... not a bad experience but would go somewhere else if I'm looking for more bang for my buck. read more

I had a party of ten and my entire party ordered cocktails and I ordered a mocktail. When hey brought the cocktails out they didn't bring my drink, so I figured they'd go get it and come back. Nope, had to wait 20 minutes before our appetizers came out before I could even ask our waiter for my drink. And then I had ordered shrimp enchiladas for my meal and right as they were serving everyone else's meal the waiter said they were out of shrimp enchiladas. So I switched to chicken enchiladas. Fast forward to a few people in my dinner party who ordered shrimp tacos and they got their shrimp tacos lol. So I'm not sure how you can be out of shrimp enchiladas but serve shrimp tacos lol. And lastly after dinner a few people in my party asked for a glass of white wine and they said they were completely out of white wine! Went out for at night with Coworkers to catch up. This place specializes in tacos but not your authentic kind that you find from food trucks. They are mainly dressed up with sauces and small portions with high prices. The filet mignon and birria tacos were rather good but not amazing.
