A great find near the Santa Ana Zoo! It's located inside a convenient/liquor store so you can walk around while you're waiting for your food to be freshly made. I saw this place on one of the social media apps and wanted to try it when I was in the area. It was really good, I loved the Azteca taco with Cecina, which was a thin flank steak. I know Cecina as jerky but this is NOT dried. It was fresh and delicious. It's located in a small market, meat market and taco/burrito stand and they have some seating outside. You can enjoy whatever you buy to drink with your food. I don't know if they would allow you to drink alcohol outside, now that I think about it. The only reason why I heard about this place was because a coworker recommended this place to me. I went with a different coworker and when I arrived, I was both surprised and not surprised. I heard it was in a gas station but man, it was not the nicest of locations. I went into the convenient store and there it was, the taco station on the left corner of the store. Ordering was a little confusing at first since there isn't a cash register. However, the person told me to place my order and pay at the cashier for the gas station convenience store. No big deal. All quirks of this place. As for the food, it was mostly delicious. I will say, the tacos tasted good, the meat was delicious, and the consumé (I don't know how it's spelled haha) was good! The only reason why I'm knocking down a star was that one of the tacos had an excessive amount of caked on burnt crumbs from the dirtiness of the griddle. Great quick tacos and more. Inside The Station Market, stopping to grab a lottery ticket and was hungry so I checked out the menu and took a chance. Two gals behind the counter were friendly and helpful choosing what to get. Grabed two carne tacos and two chicken tacos, after they showed me the meat. Great amount on me and the tacos and the typical cilantro and onions. Salsa were good both of rojo and Verde and three nice juicy slices of lime and some salt. Was browsing on YouTube for food options near Tustin and saw this place featured by ObiEats. I love hole-in-the-wall places that cook delicious food and a taco stand in a corner market fit the bill! I'd never seen or heard of cecina steak tacos before, so I was even more intrigued. As soon as we stepped out of the car, we were greeted with the incredible aroma of chicken being grilled outside, which only happens on weekends. We walked over to look and the chicken looked phenomenal. We walked into the market and could see the taco station from the entrance. Everything was clean and the menu was easy to read, with only a few options to choose from, and pricing was phenomenal! The lady who took our order was so friendly and efficient. We ended up ordering a few cecina tacos with nopales for $.50 more, a carne asada taco, a two-taco combo with asada, 3 birria tacos with consome, carne asada nachos, and horchatas. The food came out quickly and was piping hot right off the grill. We brought everything outside and sat down at one of the small tables to eat. The cecina tacos lived up to their hype - the meat was tender with a smoky flavor, and perfectly counterbalanced by the pickled nopales, a pinch of lime, and salsa, and folded into a corn tortilla. I didn't get a chance to try the birria tacos with consome as my son inhaled them, but he said it was the best he's ever had and was already asking if we could come back. The carne asada fries were flavorful with the perfect amount of gooey cheese and fresh carne asada, but somehow also didn't feel too heavy. We all agreed that the horchata was the best we'd ever had - not sickeningly sweet, but just right with a hint of cinnamon and a lightly creamy finish. My daughter typically doesn't prefer Mexican food and she was squealing with delight, asking if we could get more if we were still hungry. My wife even ended up buying another cecina taco with nopales, and the lady topped it with grilled onions and a grilled skinny pepper this time. The kids wanted more horchata and we were prepared to buy another cup, but she told us a refill was on the house, so we added more to the tip jar. Hands-down, this was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. If you're in the area, I'm not sure how you're not coming here every day, as $2.99-3.49 for street tacos with a healthy amount of meat is an incredible deal, and the people who work there are warm and friendly. I didn't know what a Cecina taco was and he helped us pick out the best tacos. We ordered a cecina with cactus (would die for this), 1 asada (soft and juicy), 1 chicken Al pastor (so flavorful!), 2 birria, and 1 fish and shrimp (this was so good! They chopped up the fish and shrimp together). After that, I had to go back for a few more! I went back to order another cecina, asada, and al pastor chicken. I was full as hell, but it was a clean full. Not like I just ate a sh*t ton of Taco Bell and wanted to kill myself. They also make some REALLY amazing fresh juices. My boyfriend and I had a heavy lunch so we wanted a light dinner. Tacos seemed to be an east quick option so we ended up yelping some taco spots in the area. We found The Taco Station, which is located inside of a liquor store. Small private lot or street parking available. They had a small simple menu. My boyfriend had the Combo #1 ($8.99) 2 tacos, rice and beans, but for tacos in the combo you can only choose chicken or asada, which he got the asada. He also added a Cabeza Taco ($3.49). I had a Lengua Taco ($3.49) and a Chicken Al Pastor Taro ($2.99). They gave us a ticket and told us to pay the cashier, which is the same cashier for the whole liquor store. There wasn't seating inside and only a few small tables outside so we decided to take it home. The tortillas didn't transport well even though it wasn't a far drive back. I tried the rice and beans that came with the boyfriend's combo, not impressed. My lengua was tender and cooked well but SO BLAND! Even with the salsa, it couldn't save the blandness of the taco. The chicken al pastor had better flavor by compare but not good enough for me to come back. Nice to try a new spot but I'll probably explore other spots the next time I have a tacos craving. read more

When I heard Taco Station was set up inside of a liquor store, I knew it was going to be good! Tacos range in price from $2.99 (asada, pollo, chicken al pastor) to $3.49 (cecina, lengua, birria, cabeza) each. They take your order (service is very friendly) and then you pay for it at the liquor store register. I got three tacos - chicken al pastor, asada and birria - all topped with cilantro and onions. I've never seen a chicken al pastor, only pork. It was so flavorful that I was pretty sure the other tacos would pale in comparison. Boy was I wrong! The asada was even better, especially with the red and green salsas added. and the birria was very tender. Burritos and tortas are also on the menu, along with carne asada fries and chilaquiles. There's a carniceria attached, with a variety of meats, some marinated, and even fish. As far as seating, there's only a few tables outside. I had the mahi taco, which came with a ranch sauce that I was not very partial towards, but the cabbage was very fresh! The Taco Station is located within a convenience store that also has a carniceria. It's a family owned shop with multiple generations who are all friendly. You give your order at the counter and they'll give you a slip for you to pay at the convenience store counter. BREAKFAST BURRITO ($9.99) - this was your typical breakfast burrito. There were a good amount of potatoes and besides that nothing else really stood out. 3/5 CALIFORNIA BURRITO ($11.99) - I got this without beans hoping there would be less filler but there was still a lot of filler from the rice. This was also not your typical California burrito because it didn't had guacamole. I wasn't a fan. 3/5 CARNE ASADA FRIES ($11.99) - there were good portions of carne asada. Sunday 7/27 my husband and I placed an order for a special, which is a roasted chicken that comes with rice, beans, tortillas, salsa, and a agua de Jamaica. We were standing outside waiting to get someone's attention to place our order. The lady with colored hair saw us and completely ignored us, then finally came to take our order a little later. We then went inside to order a chicken burrito and while we were waiting for our food, we noticed our food was ready but it was sitting on the counter for some time and we didn't want to just go up and grab it. Finally we decided to ask if it was our order and they said yes. We normally like to ask for some of the red sauce they use for the chilaquiles but last time we asked for it, the lady taking our order said she put some in the bag. We found it to be a little rude because she didn't even double check, we haven't seen her before so we figured she was new but the sauce they use for the chilaquiles is a different sauce than the red sauce they normally provide. Today we didn't even want to bother asking for extra sauce, we just wanted to get out of there. No limes were provided either.. Long story short, we come here pretty often at least twice a week. Don't get me wrong the food is normally pretty good but the service has definitely downgraded. Not sure if that has to do with growth and popularity because they were a little busy today but they're definitely not as friendly, inviting, or attentive as before.
