Good service, great food. I took my 11 year-old son for a post-game meal and he said these were the best tacos he's ever had.

La Taqueria is a small, neat and clean Mexican/Guatemalan place off route 206. They've a good menu…read morewith most of the usual suspects on it, and they're located next to a small market where you can pick up a bag Cacahuates Japoneses to enjoy on the drive home. Service is friendly and efficient. Orders are made at the counter, or, dare you dare, via QR codes located at the table. Parking is limited, and because it's located between two one-way streets, it can be tricky coming in to or leaving. The Sopes at La Taqueria are a must to try. They're heavily ladened with tasty toppings, and I'd order them again in a heartbeat. The chorizo sope was especially good, and had enough chorizo on it to make two Sopes. Be forewarned that you will not have clean hands after eating them. On another visit I tried the fish tacos. Fish tacos at La Taqueria are the chopped/shredded variety rather than the deep fried filet version. The tortillas themselves were heated well, but were nothing special, nor was the flavor of the fish itself anything remarkable. I expected something more interesting from the place. On the flip side, I also tried a Taco de Tripa, asking for it to be cooked crisp (Tripa in Mexico is pork chitterling, not tripe) and it was very, very (feel free to insert more verys) good, and is definitely a taco I'll try again and again. During our most recent visit, we had the Enchiladas de Pollo en Mole, which brought four enchiladas in a deeply flavored mole with rice and beans. The mole was not sweet like so many other moles in other area restaurants, but was instead relying heavily on the flavors of the chiles. It was very tasty, and a nice change from the usual sweet moles. We also had an excellent Huarache de Lengua, a thick, oval tortilla ladened with beef tongue. I have a feeling my wife will be ordering it each time we return. In addition, we ordered a bowl of the Sopa de Panza y Pata, a soup with a spicy broth and loaded with cow's hooves and tripe. It was a meal in itself, and was also served with rice on the side along with some thick corn gorditas. I was torn between four and five stars here, and if the fish tacos hadn't been such a bust, they'd probably have gotten that fifth star. La Taqueria is definitely in the top tier of local Mexican/Guatemalan restaurants, and will be part of our regular rotation going forward.

I'm very happy I gave it a try. It was a few miles away but tucked into an area I would have not have known about. The small parking lot was filled so I parked next door at a seedy liquor store. Inside are about 8 tables and a large open kitchen. There are a few options available at a steam table at the front, a few stews and a soup that all looked great, I may just go with one of those next time. While waiting for my to go order I could see the cooks taking pride in their craft. There were a few gringos like me dining in, and the dishes they ordered were plated beautifully. Once home I tore into my guac and chips first. Sturdy homemade chips with a citrusy guac. I just wished the guac had been put into a container so I could eat it later. The chicken tostadas looked a little beat up from the drive but were not soggy and were very well made. The chicken had been lightly charred on the flat top and all the ingredients blended perfectly. A note on the sauces, both red and green were thin ish, but very good. I was surprised that neither were too hot! I had the chicken empanadas for dinner and was again very pleased . These are on the larger size but a bit thin. As I was heating them I could detect a smoky flavor. The filling was excellent. It appeared to be chunks of roasted bird blended with potato, peas and carrots. It came with a separate baggie of shredded cabbage and carrots that I forgot about until just now. I get empanada often, and these were some of the best recent ones. The restaurant also has some sweet treats available in cases at the front, I kind of regret not trying any of those. Customer service was very good and with no language barriers. If this was closer it would probably become a regular stop for me. But I'll definitely return when I'm at the farmers market. 4.5 stars.....

True, it is tiny (2 tables inside and 2 more out front), and it is a dive (in the best sense of the word), but the skilled hands in la cocina tell a different tale. When I parked on the street in front and walked in, a telenovela was playing on the HDTV high on the wall, and several people were working behind the counter. I approached to check their trifold menu and engaged the man who appeared to be the owner or manager. He was fluently bilingual making it easy to explain what was available and then how I wanted my Torta Milanesa de Pollo prepared. I took a chair at one of the tables, and moments later my lunch was placed before me. It was an enormous sandwich on an oversized oblong roll, dressed in heavy foil at its waist and showing its internals at its edges. Just take a look at the photos. It was an amazing piece of working peoples culinary art. I maneuvered my jaws for a first bite and attempted to compress the width of this monster to fit more in my mouth. I clamped down full force and cut through its many layers. The flavor of the breaded cutlet, spicy mayo, avocado, tomato, onion, queso and lettuce burst out and had a fiesta in my mouth complete with pinata. It was just an excellent sandwich. Eating half would have been enough for a satisfying meal, but I indulged and ate the whole thing right there. Totopos has been in business for about three years. The family running it is from Oaxaca in southern Mexico. They give this corner of North Trenton another reason to visit along with some of the other great hidden kitchens in the neighborhood. .

At first glance the place is tiny, but with some outdoor and indoor seating. We chose to do takeout and get our tacos to go. We ordered the chicken, steak, and carne enchilada tacos. Each taco comes in a soft corn tortilla with cilantro, onions, and side of green salsa. The steak and carne enchilada (marinated beef) are by far the best and beat the other tacos out of the water! Everythint from the sauce to the onion and cilantro was absolutely delicious! We also decided to order the horchata and we were both pleasantly surprised. The horchata was so good! This place has now become my go-to place for take out tacos. Last time we tried the chicken quesadilla and were not disappointed! I can't wait to go back again and look forward to my next taco craving!

I went simple and chose a beef and a chicken. Jasmine was friendly and told me varieties can change but that she likes to present several options. The specimens are kept warm under a heat lamp so it's ready to be consumed with no wait. I would call them medium sized, but at $4 ea a fair value. The shell seemed mostly flour, but tasty and crispy when I ate mine hours later. Both fillings were good. The chicken one was shredded white meat that was mildly seasoned. The beef was a bit different, it seemed to be tiny cubes of tender steak in a spicy sloppy joe'esque sauce. I'd get either again! There are choices of sauce too, but I made my own fresh salsa. I hope farmers market patrons come down this aisle and give them a try. I still see people lined up for a mediocre at best empanada truck not far from here....Jasomines nadas are much better!

They could have had a great, loyal client, but instead their rudeness has kept me off of their restaurant. Never again will I order from them. By the way, food is just ok. I didn't actually realize it was where I wanted to go until I was parking in front of it. As mentioned in other reviews, the dining space inside is small and very basic--which is fine. The portion of the store selling Mexican food staples is in the front as you enter, and the handful of dine-in tables are located at the back of the store between the store's aisles and the kitchen counter. What finally got me there to visit was that it was open for breakfast, and while a lot of places say they're open for breakfast, opening up at 9AM twice a week doesn't qualify. El Sabor Oaxaqueño 2 is open for breakfast most days at 6AM, because they serve people who are working their butts off and who need a good meal. The breakfasts at El Oaxaqueño 2 serve that need. My Chilaquiles Verde were spicy, but not super spicy, and it was served with rice and black beans. My carne asada was an addition as were my fried eggs. You can also get chicken breast (pechuga) or a red sauce if that's more your style. My wife's Huevos con Chorizo were very flavorful and very filling. They were also served with rice and black beans, along freshly made tortillas and a stick of cheese to crumble over your meal. She was only able to finish off half her plate, and we took home the rest. Our next visit was for dinner, and because I couldn't decide on what I wanted, we split three plates between us. First up was my Tacos de Tripa. I asked for the tripa (pork chitterlings, not tripe) to be well cooked so that it was crunchy, and they served them up just as I like them. They were topped with chopped onion and garlic, and once topped with the spicy green fresh salsa, we gobbled them down. The tortillas were freshly made and had a nice texture. The next dish was the chicken enchiladas en mole. Four enchiladas were well stuffed with white chicken meat then bathed in flavorful mole and served with rice and beans. Thankfully, it wasn't topped with a ridiculously huge glob of melted cheese. Last was the Quesadilla--not your Mama's quesadilla either. It was huge, and it wasn't as cheesy as the quesadillas the average person knows. Inside it was stuffed almost like a taco with big pieces of shrimp in one half and carne asada in the other. There was cheese, but cheese was not the star as it is in the average quesadilla we're all used to. It was good, and we both enjoyed it--it was just a surprise. The place is far from fancy, but they serve real food, and it's real good.
