    Steak quesadilla
    Carson B.

Had their food from their food truck right by the Kansas City Woodworkers Guild. Excellent steak quesadilla, their red sauce was the perfect flavor and had a bit of a kick. And the consomé they provided was the best I've had ever. Had actual seasoning and a great salt level. Will have to come back asap.

For the food truck only. Good flavours. My favorite was the pastor, served with kick'n good sauce. Even with juices oozing out of each taco the shells never got soggy. Great, prompt service and thry were working hard to serve the large numbers of customers.

Needed a quick hearty snack in-between a random brewery crawl and DANG these tacos/burrito blew me away. So yummy! That birra sauce was thick and salty. Sooo good, we smothered the burrito with that sauce. The salsas were also just delightful. Couple patio tables out front! Loved it!

So, SO happy I stumbled upon the Taco Cacao Food Truck on a rainy Tuesday afternoon...after years of wanting to try the tiny location on busy Wornall Road I was able to walk up and treat myself to a taco Tuesday! The food truck had parked itself in the visible location down the street from Cellar Rat and directly across from the Mexican Consolate in the Crossroads district. I wad stuck in a soggy situation and the white and red taco truck was a beacon shining in the rain awaiting my hunger to approach it. I confidently chose the red pork taco and the chicken pastor and the total was a tad bit surprising at $7 so $3.50 per taco but, I was withholding judgement for the taste test and boy, was I glad I did. These tacos were stuffed with heaping helpings of fresh meat and topped with plenty of pickled onions and crema. They were well worth their price tag. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the "red pork" taco consisted of tender juicy shredded pork, not the usual chunks of red pork that I'm used to at other Mexican restaurants. This just might be one of my top tacos ever! It coated my hands with the best red residue imaginable, that was top tier meat juice right there, you got the believe that I made sure to sop up all of it! The chicken pastor, so chicken cooked in pineapple, was ground which I also wasn't expecting and the crema that was on top of thus taco was a flavor bomb. All in all I preferred the pork taco over the chicken taco but both were a delicious way to celebrate Taco Tuesday albeit a little water logged.

Taco Cacao is one of my favorite places in Kansas City to get authentic tacos. Taco Cacao is popular & well-known to KC locals as one of the best places to get tacos for many reasons. I'd also personally recommend ordering the side of rice along with your tacos because it is absolutely delicious! You may have seen this food truck driving around Kansas City, but did you know that you could go in person to buy your tacos as well at an actual stand? Eat your tacos outside or take them with you and eat them wherever you'd like! We ended up taking our tacos to a local park and having a picnic! Make sure to stop at this taco stand or at one of the taco trucks driving around the greater Kansas City area today!

Definitely don't recommend.. yes I did get ful size was pretty good but soooo bland and all you could taste was the salt in the rice couldn't even tell there was meat in it and gave me a cup of salsa not even half filled. I don't recommend

I was impressed by the quality and the reasonable price at this food truck, although the sides were fairly small, and the service could have been better. My two tacos ($2.25 each) with sides of rice and black beans ($1.49 each) were ready just six minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was mixed - a 12 minute delay on the truck opening time, one employee helpful, and the other person quiet and glum. The street tacos were delicious, with good quantities of meat and other toppings on 4" double tortillas. I especially liked the chicken al pastor taco with its aioli sauce, but the barria taco was also moist and very flavorful. Unfortunately, the sides of rice and beans came in fairly small (3" wide x 2" high) containers. The rice was very moist and flavorful, while the beans were good. Overall, pretty good, but with limited parking at this semi-permanent location.

This place is bumpin! Every time I drive by (which is all the time), there's a line with people wrapped down Wornall. I had to stop by and try it for myself. They do have online ordering available (which I'd recommend). Since they are street tacos, they are on the smaller side. I had 2 but would recommend 3 or trying a burrito. Everything tasted SO fresh! My favorite taco was the #1 chicken al pastor with pineapple pico and chipotle aioli. It is a small operation so be prepared to wait a while for your food (even if you preorder online), but I have faith they'll figure out the best way to account for the high volume of traffic they're generating. I'm so happy to have them within walking distance and can't wait to go back!

    5. Asada Taco

Delicious Asada Tacos. Some of the best tortillas I've had at a taco place in Kansas City.

I was able to sample Taco Cacao when they were parked at the Elmwood cemetery for the 150th anniversary celebration. My first time having lunch in a cemetery was a memorable one. The two $3 tacos I had were fantastic. Heaped with meat, both the asada and quesaberria were very flavorful and fresh hot off the grill.

    Brz E.

These were some of worst tacos I've had in recent memory. I ordered a birria, an asada, and a chicken al pastor. Pastor was edible, but the asada meat looked grey and low grade and wasn't seasoned well. Didn't even try the birria. also there big chunks of onion and cilantro that wasn't diced. Tacos El Tio for life!

I wish I would've had more time to look around the market because it looked like they had a lot of good stuff but I'll have to go back and see. They do have tables inside that you can eat at. The food was done at the quoted time and was accurate. The one individual I encountered was friendly. The menu was very straightforward-tacos, burritos, and a few other items, all can be customized. I had to get an order of chips and queso. I really liked their queso. It had good flavor and wasn't overly spicy. The chips were fresh and held up to the queso nicely. I'm definitely probably alway going to order this when I go. I also tried a taco with carne asada. The tacos are the street variety but they are really good sized. They don't skimp on the meat. And the carne asada was really good. No gristle or gross bits. It was chopped finely and I'd definitely order it again. I also had to try a burrito. I tried the El pastor for that and added on all the toppings-cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I also opted for extra meat because it was super cheap-like $1, so why not? Again, I was not disappointed. I did throw my burrito on the good 'ol George Foreman when I got home because they don't grill it at all and I wanted some grill marks on that tortilla. Otherwise, the el pastor was flavorful and tender and the toppings were all fresh. Per usual, my eyes were bigger than my stomach so I saved half of my burrito, but it was a welcome leftover meal the following day. Definitely check them out if you're on the boulevard and want some tasty, Mexican grub.

They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. I've had a very hard time finding much Latin diversity here so far but for Mexican this is quite good. I've mostly gotten combo platters because I like the variety. I believe every combo platter should come with rice and beans. I can tell how authentic a place is by the beans and salsa quite often. So far I've liked the combo platters and the taco salad that I tried. Again, if I remember correctly, I had to pay extra to get beans on my taco salad. That would be one complaint I have. Beans should be a staple and come with everything unless the person doesn't want them. The service has been good. No complaints and it's been busy when we've eaten there usually during lunch hours. The decor and ambiance is pretty typical Mexican. Nothing fancy. The one thing I will note is I didn't see any Mexicans working there. Maybe someone in the kitchen I can't see so that's usually not a great sign. I know they've been around a long time. I'd probably go a smidge lower to 3.5 if I could just because I'm rather picky about Mexican and Latin food but I don't think it's fair to go down to 3 so I'm rounding up. The prices seem a bit high but everything is so expensive in 2026! They are probably pretty average for eating out and I'm sure it's costing them more just like all the rest of us have seen food prices sky rocket over the past year. I would certainly recommend them for a lunch bite and a nice Mexican American experience.
