Okay, I had to update this review after trying this taco truck a second time. PLEASE, get the torta! This is probably the tastiest thing on the menu and is very filling. I got a torta de asada: comes with onion, avocado, and some cilantro. I added the grilled onions and put some of the green salsa on and it was 10/10. I ordered tacos al pastor (marinated pork) and these were tasty but definitely add toppings as the meat itself doesn't hold too much flavor.

This is a gem in a place I never would have thought! Shawnee, Kansas has an amazing Taco Truck!!! Tacos El Viejon has some dope street tacos as well as other options. I went with the Birria Tacos, and my wife had the Al Pastor tacos. Their Birria juice is some of the best I've had! I had one of her Al Pastor Tacos and the meat was marinated just right. Still juicy and flavorful after being grilled. Sometimes places over cook the Al pastor tacos and it gets dry, didn't have to worry about these being dry at all! Phenomenal food! Can't wait to go back!

My wife and I have been hearing about this food truck for several weeks now and all good! As soon as we got off work be decided to stop by and pick up some food. Their menu has a short but easy to understand. Choose your meat, choose the vessel (tacos, burritos, torta, quesadillas) and then drinks. We paid $20 and got 7 tacos and 2 drinks. They take credit card but mentioned something about a percentage for using a card, so we used cash. When we got home, I instantly regretted not getting a couple of more, they are so delicious. Definitely making plans for dinner tomorrow!

Great food, fast service. I enjoyed the street tacos, and the burrito filled me up. I would definitely recommend!

They were consistently amazing but I went in Sunday and the burrito was like half the normal size and not nearly as good. I hope it was a one time thing cause they're normally fire

Street Food at its finest. These are the real tacos that you eat in Mexico. No other tacos in the city are more authentic than these tacos. There is no fancy drinks, nor places to eat. But if you are looking for the best Torta, street tacos or burritos. This is your spot.

Delicious Tacos! I'm glad we found this place and it's time to brush up on your Spanish. A great place to eat after 1st game win to the start of this season!

When we're craving for street tacos, this food truck have exactly what we need! We love their al pastor and carne asada tacos! It comes with plenty chopped cilantro, onion, grilled onion and jalapeños. The portion is generous as well. Each time we go, there's always a line so plan accordingly! Enjoy!!!

We go on Taco Tuesday since most of the street tacos are $1.49 each. They have quite a few proteins to choose from and a few more that aren't on the special price. There's also a market and in the back is a large meat market. I grabbed some Pastor to cook at home last time I visited. The only negative I have is that as a small business, they run out of certain foods so you need to be ready to change your order if you go later in the day and it's a market so the ambiance of eating there is not anything special but I many folks just get it to go. Otherwise, I really love Mi Pueblito and think it's a gem many people don't take advantage of in JoCo.

Walking in you'll find it's a very bright, cheerful atmosphere, very clean, with about ten tables (I think), and two tv's playing Spanish music. The people are nice and very efficient. Chef Joseph is phenomenal. He was manning the register when I went in. I'd never been to a Mexican & Salvadoran restaurant before. I'm familiar with Mexican American food, a little bit with truly authentic Mexican, and not at all with Salvadoran. Chef Joseph came out from behind the counter and sat at my table explaining the menu to me, the dishes, the flavor profiles. He gave suggestions on what order based on what I told him I liked. I got one of the combo dishes mainly because it offered a variety of proteins and side dishes. I also saw several more items in the menu that I knew I wanted to try on my next visit. The food was delicious! I surprised myself by finishing the whole plate. I was also delighted to find La Cocina De Mary had atole. It's a traditional cold weather drink made with masa harina, milk, and spices. My tia made it when I was a kid, so there's fond memories. This one was better ... and lucky for me tia isn't on Yelp and will never read this. They have soft drinks and a few alcohol drinks that I may try next time. The one that's a bloody mary except with beer instead of vodka sounded interesting. Next time I go, I'm taking FPO with me. This is a great little place and I hope they're there for a long time to come.

Respectfully, nothing was fundamentally wrong with the food, but it didn't distinguish itself. I'd eat there again if nearby, but wouldn't travel for it. Service was good for ordering and receiving time. From order to table was approximately 10 minutes which is exceptional considering the quantity of food ordered. The tables needed to be wiped down, and the table service was pretty much non-existent. You order your food at a register, seat yourself and that's that. No waitress or water; you have to buy bottled water. Price point was ~$65 for the taco platter and another ~$10 for the quesabirria tacos. This filled up the family of 4 with leftovers. There is a condiments / salsa bar but customers ran through it and there was mixed food between all the containers. The pickled red onion has their own kick to it which I enjoyed and their salsas/hot sauces are good. The decor is pretty straightforward, tables and chairs, with typical music you'd expect from other Mexican restaurants. Futbol on the TV's and old movies on others. There is a chef at the opposite end of where you order your food, hats off to that man he was very receptive and worked very hard. He helped with getting our table wiped down, our waters, and to go stuff for our leftovers, if he sees this, I want him to know I appreciated his efforts. This review is for my first time experience in Overland Park. I do not know if this is normal or because it was a Sunday that this is what the experience is but I will say, If they offered free water, had a busser, and kept the place more tidy it easily would elevate the rating.
