This is my new favorite taco place in KC, seriously I have had it 3 times in a week. Two times I have eaten at the location and once I ordered. So far either me or friends have tried all regular tacos and the burrito. All have been flavorful and delicious. The location is on the outskirts of Crossroads downtown. Since the location is shared with a brewery, it has an industrial feel both outside and inside, but don't let that stop you. You order at the counter, take a number and the food is delivered to your table - you know the drill. They have some games and the atmosphere is pretty chill. This place is a diamond in the rough! A little hard to find, but truly well worth the visit. They had a 3 taco deal for I believe $13 dollars. Mix or match. Best tacos I have ate in a very long time. I was going to the Truman around the corner and met up with my friend in Kamelot. Took him to lunch, almost missed my turn, but was totally worth it. I think I had the Barnacoa, asada and fish. Tacos Valentina sets a nice vibe, it's connected to a brewery but doesn't feel like an afterthought. The food was flavorful, the guac & chips were so fresh. The sauces and salsa were all pretty spicy, but without sacrificing any flavor - well done. The margaritas were classic and balanced - not too sweet or too tangy. Price points were a little high, I think we spent $100 on 2 people for drinks, chips, salsa, guac, and tacos, but I wouldn't say they're too far off from other spots in the area. read more

My absolute favorite tacos. Flavorful, in house made fresh tortillas with great flavor. Torn Label brewing is the beer served and they've added cocktails! The Sangria was excellent, Spanish red wine, tropical fruit (maybe juice as there was not fruit in the drink) cinnamon and Amara You order at the counter get a number order your food and drink which you get right away and they'll bring to you. Water napkins and utensils are at the back counter. The room has tall ceilings, a floral mural on the wall and bathrooms in the hall way, 6 stalls. Tacos Valentina is one of my favorite taco places. I love the Orinoco and Kansas City taco. They make their own tortillas. The Elotes are delicious and definite staple when I come here. They serve torn label beer which is awesome because you can try the new beers without going to the tap room. It is order at the bar and give a number. Tacos Valentina is SO good! Love the food. I recently ordered the asada fries. This was a good portion for a meal for me. The fries were nice and crispy and had a little bit of a kick. The food at Tacos Valentina goes great with the beer at Torn Label. The service is always quick and efficient. It is located within Torn Label / partnered with Torn Label so you can order both beer and food at counter. You get a stand with a number and your food is brought out to your table when ready. So I stopped by to try this place for the first time. It looks to have some cool vibes. I didn't see a clear indicator that you're supposed to order at the bar. I just took a swing at it, picked up a menu, and stood there. It took a while for somebody to acknowledge that I was there. The person who took my order was super involved, which is cool, but they needed some help, and the person who came by to help them seemed to be rather impatient, so that was one of the first things I noticed. They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. If you've never been, you should come and see what your opinion is, but really cool aesthetics and great views. read more

I will give this place 5 stars for the chicken taco alone. Holy cow was it amazing. Their carnitas tacos are very good too, but the chicken blew me away. Sadly, I wasn't as impressed with their margarita, but the beer I had before that was very refreshing. We came on a Friday night to see our friend who was DJing upstairs. As the night went on, the service became really slow. A little understandable on a busy weekend night, but still surprising at the length of wait for our food. It's a nice place that shares the location with a brewery, so there are a lot of good beer options. I'd say it's a great place to hang out on the weekend if you want a good vibe, the music of the night definitely helped with the ambiance. read more

We have been on the hunt for tacos resembling those at Jimboy's in California and the KC Taco is the winner! The pescado & Barbados were very close behind it in their own category. The only downside was a pretty cranky female server who didn't seem to want to be there, wasn't interested in clearing our plates or asking us if we wanted another round. een a while since I did a Yelp event... and a while since I was trying new micro brews. This staff was amazing and was extremely helpful not only in what they had for beer which was 5 flagship beers and 8 seasonal beers, but also the layout of the place, top things on the menu and so on. They have some fantastic beer. Of course, beer is subjective and I tend to like dark and smoky but my friend who is recently into IPAs also liked his beer so that tells me they are doing well across the board. Taco Valentina is the kitchen that produced the tacos. These were killer! So many great taco flavours. If I had to say a downside... it was parking for the size of the event we were having there. After a Saturday evening Crossroads brewery crawl that stretched 4 blocks and 4 microbreweries, it was time for some for some nutrients that weren't hop based. Tacos Valentina is the kitchen inside of Torn Label Brewery and their tacos were a bit pricey at $5.50 each or 3 for $15, but I would be happy to pay that price again, in fact I want to do it again very soon. I ordered the KC Taco, the Suadero and gave my bartender the responsibility to select her favorite as my third, she chose the Oronoco.. it was truly a 3 way tie for which one was my favorite. The crunch of the fried tortilla filled with ground beef and dusted with parmesan was probably the best KC style taco that I've ever eaten. The chunks of seared brisket covered in a creamy tomatillo jalapeño sauce - exquisite. The fried potato fingerlings with yogurt and charred salsa - unique and addictive. Tacos Valentina has moved to the top of the charts with a bullet as my new favorite "upscale / gourmet" taqueria, and being inside a cool space that serve fresh beer only adds to the experience. You place your order with the bartender at the bar. Please order as many tacos as you can to try them all! Everything comes out hot and quick with a bottle of (super) spicy orange salsa. Their burrito is also a huge hit (available for lunch and dinner)! Everything is made with fresh and local Caramelo tortillas! KC Restaurant Week 2024 Value - 4/5 Selection - 5/5 Food - 5/5 First stop on my Restaurant Week Tour of 2024, and I was beyond impressed with this tip-top taco spot that's conviently hidden inside Torn Lable brewery. I really had no idea this place existed, and isn't it a novelty to find a hidden gem close to home? Tucked away, almost under the highway, close to The Truman, but it considers crossroads home. It's a tad hard to find. However, once you find it, you are immediately at home. And bonus points if you come on a Friday because then it's flagship Friday too and brews are $5 and the Alpha is my personal pick. The tacos on the small but mighty menu are all tempting with flavors that sound for sure to be a knockout. The normal menu prices are all around $5, which I do admit is a tad bit steep for street tacos. But, for the restaurant week deal of being able to choose 3 tacos of my choice and an accompanying appetizer for $20, I was sold. The starter I sampled was named "squash dip" and it was a cold appetizer, similar to a hummus, or if you are a little less cultured, a baby food like dip but in the best way. The flavor was akin to my favorite butternut squash soup, and the pepitas on the top were like a savory icing on the cake. Now let's talk tacos! These were all tantalizing with the meat quality off the charts. I went with one of my tried and true favorites whenever I spy it on the menu, and that is the cochinita pibil, one of my favorite pork tacos offered. The tang of the pickled onions piled on top always satisfies me, and the tender shredded citrus pork is acidic in the best way possible, as opposed to the sweet carnitas cousin. I always prefer this taco to any pork variety I've tried. The second pick was the safe bet of an asada taco, with tender steak and all the traditional toppings. It was great, but it was my least favorite of the three I tried that day. Onto something special, my fan-favorite taco of the evening, which was something unique I had never tasted before. This masterpiece of meat was called Suadero, which was confit, melt in your mouth, fatty brisket. It was so decadent and divine. I was kicking myself for never going for it when I had seen it on a menu previously. It is for sure worth sinking your teeth into! All in all, the authenticity of the food was off the charts, the beer was fantastic, and the service made me feel welcomed but wasn't overwhelming. Also, the vibe of the place is bare bones, industrial but also what you expect of a micro brewery in Kansas City. I feel like personality could be better, but I would rather the money be put into the quality of the food and beer, and that was evident. read more

Authentic and INCREDIBLE Taco Bar Catering for a Party! So So highly recommended! Ordered their Take Away Catering for a party and people truly cannot stop talking about how good the tacos were. We got the Pibil and the Chicken Tinga as well as the Chips and Guacamole. They sent all the taco fixins as well: finely chopped onions, pickled onions, two types of salsa, lime wedges, and homemade tortillas that I'm still thinking about 3 days later. They don't even have ice for their water. Taco joint with no margaritas or liquor. What the F! The restaurant is basically self serve not sure why they ask for tips at the counter. You have to walk up and place your order at a counter carry your marker to your table get your own water. There's no utensils available in the lobby so you have to go up to the counter to ask for them. I don't see myself coming back to this place. read more

The best tacos I've had in Kansas City. The prices can seem a little high on first glance but the quality of the ingredients really stands out when we ate the food here. All 5 tacos my wife and I shared along with the quesadilla were absolutely delicious. I can't wait to try the Fern bar which also has tacos Valentina after how much I loved this location at Torn Label Brewing. I enjoyed the two beers I tried and the food was quick to come each time we ordered we had our baby daughter with us and we felt that the place was kid friendly enough- some high chairs would be appreciated though. Overall the quality of the tortillas, meats, and other ingredients made these tacos and quesadilla shine. The flour caramelo tortilla on the quesadilla especially was just perfection with the tomato jam being a perfect dip/accompaniment.
