Great food!! Amazing smiling service. Clean restaurant. Clean bathrooms. I ordered a Shrimp Taco & a Fish Taco. Both are huuuge and delicious!! Comes on your choice of tortillas (soft flour, soft corn, crunchy shell). The soft come with two tortillas, which is a plus for me. But they still fell apart from all the stuffing in them. It seems this place is a hit or a mess based on the reviews. Some other locations in town have better reviews and others have the same. This was a last minute choice for some thing simple to pick up and it was a good choice! I ordered the shrimp taco, the nachos, and a fish taco. My girlfriend and I were both very impressed with all the choices. The shrimp taco was especially good. The guy at the counter was very helpful and quick and making or things. The space was very clean and overall it was a great experience. The nachos could've been a little saltier but that's my personal preference. read more

I don't know why I keep coming back to taco del Sol. For about the last year everything has changed there. They limit their hours. Only open from 11 AM to 3 PM. I stopped there today and they actually opened late. They always post a hand written sign that says "sorry" but, it is consistently distant and almost rude customer service. The food is OK. But, as a customer, I would expect a little more friendly service. Also, they certainly do not ever ever forget to leave out the tip bucket. I suppose if there is a good competitor, I would go there. read more

This is because if you can't identify the fish, there is a very strong possibility you are being served tilapia, one of the nastiest garbage fish ever to swim the seven seas. I rate Taco del Sol at five stars for a number of reasons: good taste, generous serving size, quick service and low prices. Rice and beans alone is pretty healthy for a Mexican dish, and the Nachos keep my wife happy for about six hours! You can find Taco del Sol downtown on Higgins, and on Russell at Broadway, on North Reserve Street (across the street from Lowes), and also near Trempers Shopping Center just off Brooks St. This location used to be named Boca del Rey but it has always been a Taco del Sol, so the owners have re-named it to take advantage of the Taco del Sol branding which is so well known in Missoula. This is my 2nd time and last time here. Today, I ordered 3 chicken taco's, chips and salsa. I got them to go and walked approx. 30 yards to my place to eat them and by the time I opened the bag the bottom of the bag had almost broke through. For some reason my tacos were soaking wet. Either they dipped them in ice-water before giving them too me, or the toppings and salsa were sitting in a pool of water and not drained before being put on my taco. Either way, they were freezing cold and sopping wet. Did you know flour tortillas are like paste when wet. Warm, melty-cheese on some nicely-seasoned tasty chicken, topped with crisp lettuce, spicy salsa all enveloped in a warm fluffy tortilla is all I wanted. Too bad I got none of that and to make matters worse, I got some nice hard chicken bones mixed in with my bland, wet chicken. CHICKEN BONES! I NEARLY BROKE MY TOOTH! Of course I went to return my tacos and to show them the bones. The cashier was very apologetic so I didnt cause a stink, just asked for a refund for the tacos and got one. But, I will never go back and will tell everyone I know to skip Taco Del Sol and go to Taco Bell or Cafe Rio instead. read more

I've eaten Mexican food in many states and I can't remember any being quite this bland. We ordered steak, chicken and shredded beef and all of them were tasteless and overcooked. Look--I totally appreciate the friendliness of the staff, the layout/ flow of ordering, and the food is generally pretty tasty. However, getting a burrito that literally can barely be wrapped up by staff, has sauce flowing all over, and can't be eaten by hand ruins the to-go experience entirely. Inconsistency from shop to shop reigns supreme, and I'm just not sure how ownership lets it slide. Sloppy best describes the outcome, and it's awkward to tell staff to make a burrito that you can actually eat by hand. I have eaten Taco Del Sol several times and never had a bad experience until I ate at this location, sadly. I normally get the fish taco's because they are amazing and the white sauce is to die for. This time I was ordering nachos because I had been with a coworker when she ordered some and they looked amazing. What I got at this location was completely different from what her food looked like and what I've experienced at my other locations. My food was store bought chips with unmelted cheese on it! My only small complaint is we are vegan and there has been a couple times (always the same guy) that we have had cheese or sour cream put on our burrito before we get a chance to stop him because he wasn't paying attention. My first impression when I walked in is that it looked dark and dirty. I really needs some TLC. Lots if handwritten signs which made it look more unprofessional. I also didn't like that you can't see your food while it's being prepared. Case in point - I didn't know that my burrito came with tomatoes, which I didn't want, wish I could have seen what was going on! My burrito just doesn't taste as good if I have to pick the whole thing apart to get all the tomatoes out. I also felt like the staff was lacking in the customer service dept.
