Taco Inn has been on a slow and steady decline over the years. They used to marinate and grill the chicken, now they serve bland shredded stuff that looks like it comes out of a bag. The beef is hit or miss, last time it was okay, the time before it tasted like there was no seasoning. The hard shells are less crunchy than they used to be, and they changed the flour tortillas they use. The new ones are awful, they start to fall apart after the first bite. It's a shame, Taco Inn was my first job way back when and has always been my favorite local chain, but it's a shell of what it used to be. Pun intended. read more

I'm not really sure what this establishment is all about. Snooty Kids trying to run a business is never good. When I left the drive-thru, my order was messed up and not complete. I got all the way back to my home and discovered a missing item. (Potato Thing) So, I drove back to the store, approached the cashier, and asked if they would finish the order. I also demanded that they replace the tacos since they were now 15 minutes old. Relently she agreed and might a snooty remark. Which I replied back to her that it was Taco Inn that messed up the order. Dominic and Courtney provided amazing customer service and the food was great as always. I will always drive out of my way to this location because of the excellent customer service. I wanted to try something new and Dominic described the items and was very helpful and I ended up getting some thing new and spent about double what I would normally spend. This has to be the nicest Taco Inn location in Lincoln. Clean, well maintained and a definite south of the border feeling. Ordered a steak burrito, it was good, yet disappointing.... Can't they drain the juice off of the meat? What seemed like 2-3 tablespoons of juice made for a sloppy, drippy burrito that is more of an expected experience for a Italian Beef sandwich ordered wet. I am no longer a customer after being one for more than 30 years because on more than one occasion I ordered and paid for MEAT BURRITOS for takeout and when getting home discovered I was given BEAN Burritos. The first time I overlooked it as a mistake. This is at least the third time this has happened to me at the College View location., I attempted to call the phone number on my receipt only to get the message the voicemail has not been set up. I sent an email to the email address on my receipt and it has been ignored. Good. My family used to frequent this location, every Wednesday, back in the 90s when I was a teenager. Every time I've visited, and now during the time every year that we visit my husband's family I am excited to have it. They've changed the cheese recipe once or twice through the years (not good changes, this year is my least favorite) but my order is always good. A Lincoln tradition is right. I lived off taco in in college as cheap eats but great taste. I do not live in Lincoln anymore as I am 52 and on east coast. But every time I come to Lincoln as well as my sis from Albuquerque it's the first thing we have. It's still great with that vinegary mild sauce and something about that cheese. I ALWAYS get a bean burrito and bean enchiladas MILD with no onion. The owner on 48th told me he started at the one across from Unl bookstore back in late 80s that was my late night and lunch place. He liked it so much he bought and started one on 48th by union college. My family loves the taco salad and my mom the tator tots and cheese. A MUST when you come to Lincoln. I am not sure why Taco Inn does not do as well in Lincoln as I think they should, especially considering their competition. They are the best fast food Mexican around and the only thing close will take you to Oklahoma or Texas with Taco Mayo or Taco Bueno. They have the best tacos period of any place I have tried in any state, sit down or fast food, and that is even after they changed their meat or meat seasoning about 10-15 years ago. I like the original better. They have the best burritos and Nachos in town. The only thing bad I have to say is I don't like Spanish style rice, which many Mexican restaurants I don't go to have. I prefer the more authentic fried rice. Like the good hole in the wall Mexican restaurants have, which is where I go for Authentic Tex-Mex, places like Hacienda Real, El Chaparro, and The Morales Family Restaurants have. This isn't fine dining, but it sure scratches an itch sometimes. The spicy bean burritos remind me of how Taco Bell's used to be when I was in college (don't get me started on how little I think of Taco Bell). The cream cheese enchiladas are really good, according to my wife, but I haven't tried them yet. I will soon. And I like the steak soft tacos and potato things with some ranch, to finish it off. The taco sauce is heavy on the vinegar, which I like. It might be a turn off to some, though. The ground beef is a little too salty for my taste, which is why I stick with the steak. Taco inn is a fast food establishment, and I am rating it as compared to other similar restaurants. The staff are generally friendly and provide prompt service. The tacos and burritos are reasonably priced and you can get quite a bit of food for under $5. The black bean salsa is very good. My main complaint is that the food is pretty inconsistent. If it is made correctly, then I like it quite a bit. However, If the beans are too watery or too dry, it completely ruins the burrito. Most of the time I've had them too dry, and then they just stick together and it makes just a big bean clump on your nachos, or in a section of your burrito. No bueno. As far as the restaurant interior, the cleanliness seems okay, with some normal variation depending on how busy it is. I tend to prefer getting my order to go because of how loud it is, particularly with the drive through beeping and the speaker system. A switch to headsets like most other places have done would make a world of difference in that aspect. read more

CHECK YOUR ORDER!! On Sunday, October 7th around 5:30 pm, we ordered 2 tostadas, an enchilada and 3 beef soft tacos. AFTER arriving home I found they did not include any of the tacos in my sack. So... I had to spend 30 minutes round trip to return to get my tacos. When I returned maybe 20 minutes later, I asked for my tacos and some kind of voucher for free food for my extreme inconvenience which was entirely their fault. The guy at the window, told me without much sympathy, that they were not allowed to give any kind of compensation for their mistakes. My reveiw is more about the owner than the actual restaurant. When he is not working, the food is better and the staff morale is excellent. I live near the College Veiw location, but generally make a trip to 70th & O where the food is better. He's rude, stingy with key ingrediants and god-forbid you ask him for taco sauce, which he covets behind the counter. I have to admit I lived in Lincoln for almost 8 years before I would try Taco Inn. I mean, it's a local taco place, and I was already a regular customer of their competition.
