Service was suboptimal our server never wrote our order down nor did she repeat the order to ensure accuracy. When our order finally arrived to our table the server began to argue with us! First time going, I came in at about 5:30 on Monday. Staff at the counter greeted me as I walked in, and one got me a menu and waited while I decided what to order. Inside the restaurant there's a small dining room which was clean, with some simple wall hangings. I got the single chili rellenos with rice and beans, and two carne asada tacos and a bottle of Coke, which came out to $16 and change. They didn't seem to have much other orders come in and mine was ready in less than five minutes. For the tacos, they included a wedge of lime and two sauces. Steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with a nice bit of onion and cilantro on top. The tortillas the steak was wrapped in though, honestly they really could do better. I don't mind the store bought flour tortillas, but they aren't given much care beyond just being warmed up. 30 seconds on a hot griddle is all that's missing, and it's a shame having that delicious steak delivered on such a sad tortilla. I also tried the sauces both on the tacos and by themselves, and they had almost no flavor, just a bit of heat in the habanero sauce. I'd never tried a chili rellenos before but gave it a try here, and I'm definitely having it again. That fried poblano with gooey melted cheese up in its guts and that red sauce on top was easily one of my favorite Mexican dishes I've tried. The rice and beans that came with it were also really good, with some nice melted cheese on top of the beans. The food here is always delicious and fresh. The service is amazing and everyone is always to friendly to me and my boyfriend whenever we go in also. Five stars for Mexican food in Lincoln and taco Tuesdays! I have only been there once so I cant speak for the rest of the menu yet, but the tacos are quite delicious. I definitely recommend giving this "hole in the wall" a try-I especially enjoyed the cheek meat taco. Fatty and oh so good. Great service and they also have Mexican bottled sodas and other Mexican drinks. Oh and Mexican candy by the register! I'll definitely be back. We discovered this little gem just up the street from where we live. Their street tacos are absolutely my favorite, the steak and tacos el pastor are fantastic. It may have been because of all the manual labor or hours of driving I had done that day, but visiting here was an absolute treat. Food is well priced and portioned, and taste is perfectly authentic. The waitresses all checked on their patrons frequently, ours was patient and super quick with our orders. Bathrooms were a lot cleaner than your stereotypical hole in the wall, but looked like they were painted by a toddler. Paint splotches on the porcelain and whatnot. Really that's my only criticism and that's not near enough to bump me down to a 4 star. read more

Authentic and tasty taqueria with a good choice of meats and all the traditional dishes. Friendly servers and staff. Minimal decor but clean and comfortable, with parking in front. It's about half a block south of O St., on the east side of 27th, set back from the street. (This is the Lincoln branch of the Omaha taquerias.) We had 4 different tacos - chicken, carnitas, chicharron (pork rind), and cachete (beef cheek). All were excellent. Also a sopa (thick corn cake) topped with puerco al pastor, and two quesadillas - lengua (tongue) and puerco al pastor. Managed to stumble upon this hole-in-the-wall madre y padre eatery on accident last summer while getting my haircut across the street. Driving down 27th Street you're almost surely to miss it, but this my friends is one of Lincoln's best kept secrets. The food is exquisite. A landlocked individual such as myself has to wonder, "Is this how Mexican places are in the southwest?" Worth every penny. Fresh, quality ingredients that are bound to provide an epiphany of sorts for your taste buds. Plus, burritos are $3.50 on Fridays. I might have found my new favorite hole in the wall Mexican food joint. It's small, you might not see it unless you know where you are going. It's on the SE corner of 27th and O st behind a dance studio and some sketchy stores that change names/hands often. Burrito I had was less than 4 dollars and was bigger than my head. My friend had a torta and it looked very good. It was also mammoth in it's proportions. I might have to try it next time. It's a small joint, not very romantic if that is what you are looking for; but I think it is wonderful for carry-out. They take Credit cards for anything over 5 bucks. 5 bucks is enough to feed a very very hungry person at this joint. read more

The food however was slightly sub par, the meat is very fatty and the the execution of traditional Mexican dishes isn't very traditional. The space is really small, so I prefer to get take out here most of the time. They've allowed me to call ahead, which is cool. The burritos are really good. A previous reviewer suggested getting the lengua tacos. I was told they no longer have lengua. But everything I've had there has been legit. Fantastic hole in the wall Mexican place. I've only tried the tacos so far but they are so good! I definitely recommend the seasoned pork ones. Corn or flour tortillas, but the flour ones come with more toppings and a little higher price. Both are really good though. They also give you chips and salsa (complimentary) with 3 types of salsa. All 3 are really good, with a mild, a slightly spicy salsa verde, and a hot red salsa. Very very small joint, set back in a parking lot next to what I believe is an auto place and a hair salon. Their daily specials are worth checking out -- burritos are 3.50 M&F, and are giant. So so good. The staff is all very friendly and knows me when I come in. The tacos, although small, are cheap and go on special twice a week for .99 - so buy four or five of different meats and make those a meal. My favorite thing I normally get is a chicken burrito, but the pastor and lengua is also really good and I haven't tried something that I didn't like. Closer to 3 1/2 but i i will give it a four rather then a three. The place is has cheap, typical mom and pop mexi decor but who cares, I go for the food. It is good. Service is spotty at times but that does not bother me much because the joint is small and all you have to do is wave your server over for more drinks or salsa refills. The carnitas are good and the salsa's are very good. The food leans to wards rustic so if you think Taco Bell is good mexican food, it might be a stretch for you. I have not tried the other highly rated mexi place in town so until then, this is my #1. read more
