Let's have a quick lunch, maybe a taco or burrito. Decided on Taco John's for lunch. I have eaten at a Taco John's when I was younger but have not been there in over 20 years. The restaurant is new and well maintained. Everything seemed clean yet the restaurant only had 1 other customer while we were there. It was a slow day. The service was standard fast food "get your food at the counter" and was ready quickly. I ordered a burrito/taco combo. It came with potato oles (tater tots) and a small drink. The food was ok. It tasted like Taco Bell. The potatoes were suprisingly good. If I ever go back, it would be for the potatoes. The value for the price was not what I would expect. Too expensive for fast food. So, I would rate them 3 of 5. Nothing special, just expensive fast food fare. read more

The men's bathroom is filthy. Filthy floors and filthy commode and filthy urinal. The hand towel dispenser is so miserly, it dispenses only an inch of paper towel at a time. The dining room was dirty. The windows looked like they had been wiped down with a dirty rap. There were flies... disgusting, disease-spreading flies... in the dining room. The dining room floor was filthy; clearly they don't ever scrub the dining room floor. The service was friendly but terribly slow. Interminably slow. I ordered two chicken tacos and it took between five and six minutes for them to arrive at my table. That is NOT fast food. As for the fiesta chicken tacos, they were better than expected but they were dry; they lacked the proper amount of sauce and contained far too little pico de gallo. This was a very bad decision to try to get a breakfast here. I ordered the two small egg and bacon burritos. All I tasted was foamy soap. It was disgusting. I actually end of losing it literally. Last night we went to the Taco Johns in Bellevue, WI. We were in town and decided to stop. We were treated so incredibly rude we will not be returning. My husband pulled up to the drive thru and an employee spoke through the speaker and said "The drive thru isn't working. You need to come in to the lobby." Now, we were quite confused as she just spoke to us so my husband said "it's not working?" She said "yes. Like, we can't take your money. Does that make sense?" My husband replied "No" but pulled forward by the lobby door. I got out and went in. While there, there was a woman in the back (same one who was on the drive thru headset), who the entire time was on her phone texting. Whatever. Not cool but it is what is is. While I was waiting for my food all I heard was a curse word come out of her mouth every other word. She then asked the guy that took my order if I was the one from the drive thru and he replied yes (he was very polite) and she said that must have been my husband in the car. She said, and I quote, "rude ass son of a bitch." Then said "hey tell her her husband is rude as fuck." He said "I'm not going to say that." And she then stated "yeah bc you can't hang with the big dogs. He's rude as fuck. Fucking asshole." Now I can hear this entire conversation. She isn't being quiet about it in the least bit. I am hearing everything word for word. The texting, the cursing, then the blatant disrespect towards my husband (who clearly wasn't rude). All while making my food. Now I didn't say anything. I'm a very quiet and nice person. I'm pregnant and quite honestly I just wanted my damn potato oles! I get my food and when I got in the car I told my husband that we would not come back and I relayed to him everything that happened and told him that he may want to call the manager tomorrow. Instead he decided to go in. So he goes in and she's busy and goes "you're going to have to wait." Eventually the nice guy comes up and that's where he got her name from. He then confronted her and she blatantly denied ever saying it and got lippy to him. She refused to apologize. I get having a bad day and working in customer service. I did it for 3.5 years. So I get it. But a customer should never have to see an employee on their phone doing nothing but texting, talking the way she did, and blatantly disrespecting a customer. No one should be talked about the way she talked about my husband. And then refuse to apologize. It turned me off and it was incredibly rude and just horrible business. read more

I would give less than one star if possible. Not a clear menu... steers you towards meals when you just want a taco. Floor was dirty, dining room as well. Cashier had a dirty bandage on their finger. I hope they weren't working in food prep. I would not recommend at all. If you are considering it there a Taco Bell over on Main Street. Take the extra couple minutes. It was terrible. read more

I have to say the potato oles are my favorite and that is the only reason I keep coming back. I have had some pretty bad service here which is unfortunate. This visit was unlike the others in that I ordered my food and drink, payed and only got my drink, but somehow only payed for the food. I ordered and got up to the window and the employee came to the window grabbed my card without saying anything and slammed the window. I could hear the other employee arguing with the guy at the window about what I ordered. The man came to the window and handed me my drink and card and walked away without saying anything. I then stared at my receipt wondering if they were coming back with my food. I examined my receipt and saw that I was only charged for the food. So I assumed they totally mixed up my order and I drove around the front to go inside and see what happened. I showed my receipt and they said I did not order any food, so I ordered the potato oles and waited about 10 minutes. While I waited, two cars went through the drive thru and one more customer inside the restaurant got his food. I will probably avoid Taco John's for awhile considering I usually have to wait a really long time for my food or the employees are just plain rude. read more

Walked in to grab a quick bite during lunchtime while on a driving trip. The menu only listed combos. This was difficult because I just didn't want that much. Just when I thought things were getting better... I've come here for years and it was messy, dirty, sometimes not open when they were supposed to be, understaffed, sauces not out, no ice in machine, etc. I stayed away for a while because it wasn't open consistent hours. Finally I came back and things are better. Now I order my medium breakfast combo and the potato oles are small. That's just how it is, they say. So next time I order large and get large. How do I get a medium potato ole for my medium combo. The kid just shrugs his shoulders. No wonder Hardees next door has 10 cars at breakfast and TJs has zero. Revised: Someone finally explained to me that they have been selling things incorrectly and were corrected after an audit. So, for 8 years or so, 2 stores were selling things wrong. I don't get fast food a lot. Usually I will when I forget to pack my own lunch for work. I will admit though the Potato Ole's are a guilty pleasure of mine. Otherwise the food is similar to Taco Bell, just a little more expensive. I did want to share my most recent trip here. As soon as I walked in the cashier says to me, "Cool glasses, can I try them!" I let her try them and she said, " I have to wear these because my futre is so bright." I actually thought that was funny. She was super friendly and even made suggestions of her favorite menu items. After getting my food she asked if she put enough love in the food. At first it creeped me out a little, but she was in such a happy mood, I didn't care as she made me laugh and smile. It was a memorable event and I hope I see her again if I go there. Not many people in the fast food buisness are friendly. read more

When I stopped at this location the entire floor was very sticky, which grossed me out. I was afraid to sit at a table, unsure of how clean they would be (or not be). The service was very slow and food was typical fast food tacos (it was what I expected for fast food tacos). Well, I've been to a TJS once before, and it was amazing. That was out in the middle of nowhere. This one, I decided to bring my girl to, who has never eaten at TJ before. We got good menu items, paid a worrying amount of money, and left with full bellies. Full of what, however is the problem. In our case, it was disappointment and concern over the quality of our food. I understand it's a fast food taco joint, but when one corner of your business is infested with carpenter ants, that tends to be an appetizer for worse problems. $20 that could've been spent at Qdobas, or an almost full tank of gas, wasted on bland overpriced food for two that I would feel guilty bringing another soul towards, hence my review. At 8:50 pm (closing time in 1h 10m) my family and I stopped for a bite on the way to our northwoods cabin. Floor was sticky (as pointed out by my 10 year old) and all sauces were put away as if they were ready to close. Lids for sodas weren't stocked and one of the sodas needed to be changed. When we received our food, oles were cold and old. Having worked at a Taco John's in college, I know these were standing longer than the timer would have allowed. My daughters cheese quesadilla was also cold. When I mentioned to my husband how poorly I thought the franchise was run, he said I said the same thing the last time we were at this location. I love Taco Johns but do not love this location. There is another location about 10 minutes north... It's worth the drive. PS. Franchise owner, you have some work to do. read more

Went through drive through today. Person (Jose) collected the money at the window, no mask, when asked where his mask was he shrugged and said he didn't wear one. Person who brought the food did not have one on either. Does anyone wonder why we can not open up the country or the schools or anything. That's why. Non compliant people who will keep us locked down month after month, when all we have to do is follow a few simple rules for a couple of months. This could of been under control by now. Recently visited this location- about 6:30pm. Lights were on and went to the drive thru. Waited and no one responded to me. I drove around and two employees sitting in the dinning area. I drove to the fast food place next door- but thought I would try again and get some potato oles. I again stopped at the drive thru and again one responded. I swung around the building and saw the two employees walk to their car. I rolled down my window, One employee gives me a hateful look- like he wants to fight me. He tells me that they are off to the emergency room since the other female employee had something in her eye. She is smiling at me and not in distress. I leave and they are behind me- they turn away from any route to the hospital. Poor customer service- if something had happened it would have taken 3 min to put up a sign at the drive thru alerting customers and until the sign was up- they should have mentioned over the speaker they were closed. Taco John's. Let's not Taco bout how John is not good at running a restaurant. They only had 1 cook working. It wasn't even busy but It took him 20 minutes to make me ONE taco and there was waaaaaaayyyyy to much lettuce on it. All of their sauces tasted the same. And the food tasted like jet fuel capable of melting steel beams. First time at Taco Johns so wasn't sure what to expect other than an obvious comparison to the competition. Surprisingly the menu had some pretty good choices that you won't find at another fast food chain of similar menu styles. The burritos were pretty good, and the potato side (tater tots) were also pretty tasty. The downside was that the menu was limited because they were out of rice. Tried to eat at this restaurant last Friday 4/4/14.When we walked in no one was around,in the ding room or cash register,finally someone dame out to to take our order.I asked what time do you close she said 10 pm.I looked at the time it was 9:10pm.Plenty of time to eat before going to the YMCA. Last time I was here i was waiting for my to go order and I was the only one here so I figured my order would not be screwed up. But I over heard the girls in the kitchen saying "oh shit oh shit, that's not right" but the one said "it's okay just send it out it's to go anyway" and she just gave me the bag as if I didn't here what they said. Good food, horrible service. They tend to forget items if you go through the drive thru. Make sure to check your bag before you leave. I shouldve learned from the first time it happened. I didn't notice an item was missing until I was home, called in to find out what I was charged for (I used a debit card and didn't get a receipt) couldn't get a straight answer to that, but they were sure it was in the bag. It wasn't. What kind of place tells the customer they're wrong. So my options were to drive back(10 minutes there) or be put in a "complaint book" for the next time I was there. So i drove back. My wife and I got off the highway to get a bite here yesterday. There was no one in line and no one at the register. This is at 1:00 in the afternoon, generally considered lunch time! I waited almost five minutes while she used the rest room, then she waited for a few minutes while I peeled off to go to the Men's room. Still no one appeared to take our order. There was a guy preparing food who we could see if we peeked in from an angle. He presumably knew we were there but couldn't be bothered to say, "Sorry, someone will be with you in a minute." fast food MISTAKE! Granted it's not gourmet cuisine, however I do have some expectations when it comes to food on the run. This was my first time there and will be my last! Seriously words can't even describe what I was served. I ordered a rice bowl. The manager forgot to put the chicken in, the beans were cold and it looked like rice soup. Also, it took 20 minutes to make it, while he proceeded to fill drive thru orders, and nobody was in the restaurant. When I went back to return it he started to tell the girl working there that I couldn't return. I refused to accept that and he allowed her to give me my money back.
