Fast food Tex-Mex with better quality & higher price than Taco Bell or Del Taco is a good description. The workers were fast & friendly. I ordered the yelp special with buy one get one free pork tacos. First coupon that I had to fill a form & get an email... on 3G cell service (pain). The manager came out to help because I got the emailed coupon, but nothing came up on store computer about it. He worked it out. The pork tacos were meaty & tasty & Taco John has a sauce & salsa bar to add to them. Could it use more cooked on seasoning? Of course. But this is quick grab fast food. The tator-tots are good & filling, but grease starts covering my palate & stomach. I think 2 could eat off the large bowl they gave me. The person who took my order was so clearly up for days in Iowa's finest, their burritos have gotten smaller and smaller over the years and somehow I can't even swallow what I just ordered. $15 for food that is so gross I can't even force myself to eat it. I will NEVER eat here again! After finding part of a scotch brite pad in my burrito. They apologized and refund my money. But I was sick all night wondering how much I ate before I seen it. I want to know how it got in my burrito! Are they passing dirty sponges over the food or not rinsing out the pans after cleaning them. This is the worst Taco John's I have been to! If it wasn't for the Potato Oles I'd skip it all together. I have tried tacos, burritos, quesadillas...and almost all of it is tasteless limp mush. Then they even charge nearly $1.00 for just a little plastic cup of nacho cheese. The staff tends to be half friendly and half not, and many have forearm tattoos. There is no doubt that they fall quite short of authentic mexican food, but when you're talking about americanized mexican fast food, it doesn't get any better than Taco John's. Since middleschool, they have been the go-to joint for almost everyone I know. Everyone there is friendly, the service is fast, and the food is always hot and fresh. There is no comparison between Taco John's and Taco Bell or any other mexican fast food chain, these guys blow them out of the water. The chicken taco bravo is my favorite (a crispy taco wrapped in a softshell taco), but if you don't eat meat I would recommend getting a bean burrito and filling it with potato oles and mild sauce. Also, one of my new favorites (another vegetarian one) is getting a "meat and potato burrito" but asking for no meat, just extra potato oles. If you just say a "vegetarian meat and potato burrito" they usually put refried beans in it, which you don't want, so you have to specify just extra oles! This is tasty as hell. Tuesdays they have 79 cent crispy tacos (bean or beef) and thursdays they have 99 cent taco bravos (bean or beef), so if you are poor then load up on tuesday and thursday! read more

Moving to fairfield last year I was looking for food to eat and came upon this location of Taco Johns. It's a nice fast food restaurant that is fairly clean and staff seems chill. The potatoe oles are great and so are their bean burritos. Their grilled chicken burrito is also delicious. Beef on the other hand is alright but anymore than one is gonna get you feeling sick. It's the more expensive version of del taco or taco bell if you've been our west. The down side to this place I must say is the pricing. For a small potato ole ranges 3$ and up for some hash Browns. Food here is over priced for fast food. Why fork over 8$+ for 1 burrito and a small potato ole when you can eat arandas for 8.50 all you can eat buffet for example. Overall place is good if your looking for expensive fast food that isn't authentic Mexican food. Not a bad place or food, just overpriced brought down my experience. I rarely eat here due to other places I can get more food for cheap. If the food was at least organic/non gmo it'd be worth the money. read more

Taco Tuesdays are the best time to eat at Taco John's because of the discount. Their quality of food is great. The music they play inside their establishment is horrible. If you want to eat there I suggest just going through the drive through. read more
