Stopped on the way home from a family visit. It's a 3 hour trip, and we had an hour left. We were hungry, and knew we didn't want to try to make dinner when we got home at 9pm and still had to unload the car. I knew Rockingham had a good amount of places, so I looked up on yelp, and saw that this place had some good reviews. We figured it was worth a try. There are 4 of us in the car, not overly hungry, but needed something. We got the 10 pack of tacos, half hard shell, half soft shell for $9.75. Awesome deal!! We ordered chips, and Loco sauce, since we saw a tip from someone else that it was good. The 4 of us are full just from the 10 tacos, and a couple of chips each to try the sauce. The tacos are amazing. The place closes in an hour, and the food was still fresh and good. We love the sauce, and will definitely be back for more tacos and loco sauce!!!! They'll get your take out order right about 1/2 the time. Out of the last 4 times we've ordered from them, items have been left off, or missing completely. Their food is great, but it you order cheese dip, chips should come with the order. If you order chicken and shrimp fajitas, it should come with chicken and shrimp. Not steak and chicken. My wife and I were traveling along with our dog through Rockingham on the way to a beach vacation when we found Taco Loko. We were able to order six traditional (corn tortilla, cilantro, onions) tacos for takeout, which were tasty and quickly prepared by the friendly staff. Though they don't have outdoor seating, we enjoyed our tacos while sitting on a bench they had outside to allow our dog to stretch her legs. Best thing to fill the old Central Park burger place. True authentic tacos and simple Mexican food. I've taken the tacos to work with me to share and everyone in the office fell in love. My boss that is half Mexican and from Cali said they taste just like good old street tacos from the west coast. The pork tacos are to die for and just with a little onions, cilantro, and cheese. We've dined here twice, we found there authentic Mexican cuisine absolutely delicious! Let me say, I speak from experience, I'm from Galveston County Texas, and I grew up eating Authentic Mexican food. I will admit the tortilla chips were a little over cooked on our second trip which was disappointing, but Due to the quality of the service and food they serve, I would have to chalk it up to a new cook or something, Thus the reason I chose to give them only 4 stars. We stopped here for a quick lunch today. Thought it was just a drive-thru, but realized after driving abound the building from the drive-thru that there was a dining room. We'll check that out next time! Hubby had the #1 (beef soft taco and chicken burrito) and I had #2 (chicken nacho ole). It all was very good! Chicken was perfectly seasoned and all ingredients were fresh. Nachos came with lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, guacamole, sour cream. I didn't get jalapeños. Under all that, on top of the chips, was the orange kind of canned nacho cheese. Some people might not like that, but I love concession stand nachos so I thought it was perfect! All ingredients were proportioned right and had just the right amount for the chips. We got a cup of homemade hot sauce that was very tasty and very hot. Our two meals with drinks came to $15. What can I say, PLEASE don't let the looks and size of this place deprive your tongue of the yummiest Mexican food around. As authentic as it gets (Especially tacos), and the best prices for large portions. Never had to wait an unreasonable time to get my meal, whereas other places easily take 30 to an hour. My wife and I love Mexican food, we've been to every one in Rockingham and nearly all the ones from other towns we've lived while I was in the Marines, and I can honestly say none compare to Salvador's Taco Loko. While keeping in mind this is no lavish banquet hall: the other factors of taste, portion, price, and friendliness far exceed this book's cover. Not to mention how kind Salvador and his family are, his restaurant is a fractional example of the care and concern they express to everyone they meet. Not perfectly fluent in English, however nothing is dismissed and every person welcome, no matter your equality issues. The servers all speak English, are courteous and quick. Salvador can also be found at Rham flea market most Saturday mornings with his taco truck for a nice taco or quesadilla brunch. read more
