We came to Los Reyes for dinner on Mother's Day. Two people in our party ordered dishes with steak in them . The steak was burnt to a crisp after waiting over 30 minutes for our food. When we told our waitress, she totally did not care. We requested a discount on the two plates and she told us no. She did offer to get two new dishes cooked but we did not want to wait another 30 minutes. Food is very expensive and should be cooked properly the first time. We will not be returning. I have been addicted to Mexican food all my life and I eat it every day, even learned to cook some dishes so when I moved to Athens or on the outskirts I had to search for a Mexican restaurant that I thought was close enough or better than the one I use to go to from where I'm from. ihave 2 choices now one restaurant that's okay on a couple of things that will get me by till usually the next day when I drive closer to my favorite place but Los Reyes is way overpriced and there prices are never consistent my order is to go and I will always get the same thing but the price is never the same, I was charged $2.50 for a small hot salsa on one day and a week later for exact same thing a small hot salsa I was charged $5.00 and that's with no freaking chips either when I told them the past 3 times I was only charged $2.50 she said I don't know but this is the price and started talking to someone (she was actually saying something about me in Spanish but didn't know I understood) I told her I knew what she was saying about me she said this was about a customer I had earlier and rolled her eyes. only reason I stop by here is because it's 15 mins from where I live or do I drive 40 mins to the place I rather go where the prices are great food is great especially the white shredded cheese and dip and service ppl are phenomenal to La Montana I will do the drive every time now and for the future it will be well worth it read more

So we went to Los Reyes last night because we had a hankering for Mexican food. I already know Los Reyes is my favorite in the area even though it's not the closest. I was surprised to find them very busy when we arrived, there's usually several guests but I've never seen it so packed. We got a table up front and sat side-by-side. The server showed up pretty quickly and was very friendly. She brought chips and salsa on the first trip and we ordered a small cheese dip. It came out pretty quickly and the cheese was creamy and really good. You can tell the tortilla chips are made in house because they are not uniform and well. I just think they're made in house. Server brought our menus and our cheese dip and we looked it over to see what we wanted. I already knew what I wanted; I get the same thing every time I come here. There are plenty of things to try, but I like the chiles Riano so much and I always get that. I usually get just the cheese inside of the poblamo peppers and with refried beans and rice. Everything is really good, just perfect and like I said I get the same thing every time. This time I ordered chicken, one chicken and one steak on the peppers. I have tried to chicken before, but I had never had the steak. My husband ordered some kind of chicken something I don't remember what it was but he really liked it. He said it was the best beans he had ever had. I have to say the chicken is excellent excellent. It's tender and it has a wonderful chargrilled flavor, which I did not expect. The steak was the same. The char grilled flavor was just so unexpected and so so good. The pepper was tender but not soft and cooked just right. There was plenty of cheese inside too and plus the cheese sauce on the top. The rice and beans were excellent as always and I enjoyed my meal very much. If you're craving Mexican and want some really good food head up Highway 29 out of Athens, Georgia and stop at Los Reyes. First off, let me say this...I love cheap tacos and margaritas. My friend and I were visiting the Athens area for a friend's wedding and were super hungry before heading out to get our hair done. There are tons of Mexican places within a 10 mile radius and we were craving them so we hopped on Yelp and found Los Reyes. It's located in a gas station, but don't let that turn you away! The staff was pretty friendly and were quick to serve us while we were pressed for time. Plenty of parking and clean bathrooms as well! They start you off with free chips & salsa (if you like spicy food, be sure to ask for their hot sauce...they bring three different house made sauces!). I ordered a lengua taco and a chorizo, but I think I got my friend's carne asada. Either way, they were pretty tasty for $1.99 a piece. The lengua was a little chewy but the flavor was good. My friend and I split a Texas pitcher of margaritas for $15.99 which was more than we could even finish! The prices here are phenomenal. read more

In years passed this restaurant was a family favorite but the staff are now extremely rude, and the food has gone down in quality.

This place was the "BOMB" when it opened. I followed the owner from their nightclub on Atl Hwy to this restaurant on Hwy 29. Over the years especially the last few months customer service has become HORRIBLE via phone & in person! New Management??? I was appalled w/ the conversations & profane language they use in front of customers - total disregard of respect or professionalism. The prices are higher in comparison to other Mexican Restaurants but my loyalty kept me coming back. I called back one evening bc my order was wrong. The way I was spoken to opt was my last straw. You cannot expect people to patronize you when you don't value them. I do however; hope they get it together and re-train their staff because the food is delicious & I really like the owners. read more

The table we had was dirty, we asked for something to clean the table, they never brought us anything to clean it, we had to clean it with the napkins that were on the table. The food has always been good. I ordered steak fajitas and my bf got a burrito. My fajita was very tasty. We also ordered Coronaritas or Margaronas(whichever term you choose to use) that were VERY strong! Well, let me say they were very strong for me b/c I'm not that much of a drinker, so my tolerance for alcohol is very low! However, they were very GOOD!! OMGG!! The service yesterday was mediocre, seeing as though I've been here before and my to-go order was very expeditious! Although, my waitress Dulce seemed to be very busy, I will give her the benefit of the doubt. She was very pleasant! Oh and the reason it gets 4 stars and not 5 is b/c Dulce forgot that I asked for NO Beans(I HATE BEANS)!! Glad they were'nt mixed in my food, but just on the side, so I was able to avoid them at ALL COSTS!! YUCKY DUCK!! Since my bf now knows that they serve Coronaritas(Margoronas), we will probably become very frequent patrons now! Highly recommended restaurant. P.S. We have never had a bad bite here. Parking is kind of crazy and every-car-for-itself-ish. Indoor and "outdoor" seating. Outdoor has tvs and AC/Heat lamps, we've never been uncomfortable even in the heat of Georgia summer. Literally every plate is amazing, their margaritas are nice and strong, waitresses and waiters are very very good and while they may not seem super super friendly 100% of the time, they always take great care of you. read more

I'm not going to say the food wasn't good, it was.. but it was average compared to others. Why I'm giving a low rating was that it was never brought up that the chips and salsa was an extra 8$ and then the quesadilla that was 10.45$ was not very big and then when they asked if we wanted rice or beans with the quesadilla we assumed it was included in the meal considering it was 10$ already but no it was an extra 1.75$. When we got the bill we were shocked! This place was double what we normally pay for the same meal at our other Mexican restaurant plus they automatically include the tip so you don't get to chose. Los Reyes is a hole in the wall tucked inside a gas station that is, PURE GOLD! We eat here at least once a week! It was a secure get away that is starting to become quite well known. The serve authentic Mexican fair that is really good! The lengua tacos are out of this world! You can buy beer here as well but if you want liquor, it's no beuno. They don't have a liquor license. Yet. They are adding an outdoor covered patio for this summer and we are trying to get them to find some bands to play. To sum it up, if they get a liquor license... It'll be a fiver! read more

I had purchased a gift certificate from restaurant.com for here and since the restaurant is located pretty far from town, I would not have come across it otherwise. Before our meal we asked the server if it would be alright to use, she agreed and suggested we start with some dips as we had $50 to spend. The food was on point with the other Mexican restaurants in town. When the bill comes she decides that the certificate is no longer valid for a minimum purchase of $50 but now only valid for tabs over $75. Both printed certificate and app show clearly that minimum purchase is $50. They did not want to accept it and after speaking with a representative from restaurant.com (all while sitting at the table) they also agreed that the certificate I purchased is valid for minimum purchase of $50. Both the manager and server were rude and unwilling to work with us during the situation. They provided no evidence that the minimum purchase price was increased, but simply expected us to spend more at the end of our meal. We were a group of 4 co-workers and by the end of our experience we felt very uncomfortable and taken advantage of. We definitely will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. For anyone else that has purchased the same certificate, there is an open investigation into the restaurant and the company will refund your certificate. First Mexican restaurant ever that didn't either give me chips/salsa while waiting on my order (and having a cocktail) or who didn't give me some with my to go order. Had to order and pay for them separately. Additionally, the portion size for my fajita order was from the kids menu apparently. It was almost like my order was forgotten and they split a little off of another order. I got five tiny shrimp in my fajita combo. I went to this restaurant because my friend purchased a gift certificate. After asking to the waitress if it was ok to use this certificate, she agreed and we start order our lunch, with appetizers and everything to spend $50 and pay $25 (yay!)... Food arrived, sooo good! Then when were ready to pay I asked for a dessert and they came by the table 5 minutes later and said that they can not accept the gift certificate unless we spend $75. We asked to speak with the manager with was very, very rude (boooo) :(. After they yelled at us and speaking to the boss they decided to honor the certificate. Horrible experience!
