    El Sandwich Cubano Veggie

Was craving Cali n Tito's and finally got the chance to go back to Athens this weekend! Safe to say it still hits just the same even years later. Was pleasantly surprised to see they had a lunch menu that included an entree, side and drink for a banger price (but some days they don't do this deal so you have to ask). Got the veggie Cubano per usual with the legendary pink sauce and it was AMAZING. The yuka fries and plantains were also well done 10/10. Tried the veggie taco and tamale for the first time and those were also very delish and filling entrees. All in all super solid lunch and can't wait to be back again! - the line wasn't too long considering it was grad day and was moving along pretty quickly

Absolutely stupendous! Cali N Tito's is an unassuming space with a walk up counter and picnic tables all around the building. You order at the counter, and then your food is brought to your table. It's a fairly streamlined operation with tons of options. The boys had burritos, and I got a steak quesadilla with tostones. I would have loved more of the sauce but all in all it was fantastic, authentic, and super reasonably priced for what you got.

Cali N Tito's is an Athens STAPLE, hands down. I have been here a few times over the past 10+ years, but I had just recently gone to Athens to celebrate a friend getting his MBA from UGA. Cali N Tito's is some pretty authentic cuisine. They have a pretty big menu filled with non-traditional items as well as some common traditional ones. You will definitely find something you like. I got the original Cuban sandwich and my wife got the chicken Cuban sandwich. Both tasted incredible. It was all so flavorful and they did not skimp on any of the meat at all. We also shared the fries too. They were nice and crispy and had just the right amount of salt. They have a full bar too, so you can get something alcoholic to drink if you like. I got one of the frozen margaritas (I got strawberry.) They also have plenty of non-alcoholic options too, like coke products and juices. Cali N Tito's is also pretty big. There are plenty of places to sit inside and there is plenty of parking as well. The inside decor is colorful and vibrant and there are many things that will remind you of Latin America. A bunch of flags and Latin American themed decor. The service is good, but it can be kind of slow sometimes. We came on a Saturday, and when we first got there, it wasn't too busy, but within the hour, it got packed, and there was a line at the register. But it is definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend Cali N Tito's, and I would definitely come back if I find myself in Athens again.

We were excited to find a cool, local place to eat in Athens on a Sunday that was so highly rated. Be aware that you must wait in line to order and then most food is brought out to you. We were in line for perhaps 1/2 hour, which felt like a very long time. Food was delivered pretty quickly. The taste was really fabulous, and portions are large, which is the reason for my four star review. I had three different tacos (pork, beef, and chicken) and had to take one home because there was so much to each taco. The place has a definite college-student vibe with people studying in the uncovered outside section. The picnic tables are a little hard to get into for us older folks, and there are plenty of flies due to the lack of walls. I took no pictures because I was fighting with the flies. The iron horse sculpture in Watkinsville is not far andvery cool to see, and that is what I have a picture of. The BYOB signs and designing-on-a-dime decor were interesting to look at as we waited in line.

Extremely Popular Fast casual Athens pad, always packed from nearby local college; v cool eatery to chill. My Fish Burrito was spectacular and v original; A first fo me. Loaded w veges legumes beans grains n fish, w additional plantains, great. You'll need to ask for their homemade habanero sauce; :) Has a cool large outdoor space, with palm trees, umbrellas, and a boat, to relax and eats. Blastin' Peruvian music I think. No booze, they byob. Next Time. Cannot Wait to Get Backs to Athens n few months.

It's wonderful to return years later to Cali N Tito's and discover the quality and deliciousness of their food has remained the same. It still has that eclectic, college dive feel with inside and outside picnic table dining. Tamales have always been my "go to" when eating here, and today they were so good! The salad hubs ordered for me was very fresh, topped with delicious sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes and diced cucumber. The vinegar dressing was light and allows the fresh veggies to sing! The basket of chips with salsa is $2.50- not complimentary. They are crispy and the salsa is homemade goodness. My only complaint is the chips basket needs a larger serving of salsa. Still the same order at the counter window, and they bring your order to your table. Can't wait to return!

El Sandwich Cubano was to die for! This place is the bomb and certainly one of the best meals I've had in Athens. Great atmosphere and stellar menu.

Everytime I tell the hubs "let's go to Cali n Tito's" he gets super hype. So today we decided to try their second Franchise. The ambiance is just as cool as the other one and their service was pretty basic order here and get your food later. Don't expect to get a waiter! The food was great and very flavorful. Overall it's a great spot to grab a bite in Athens.

Always delicious food, definitely not Tex Mex. Love the maduros. It's many times very crowded and difficult to park, though.

From the moment we walked in, it was clear this place is a local favorite. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the menu offers a great selection of traditional Mexican dishes, along with a few Salvadoran influences that make it even more unique. One of the highlights of the evening was meeting the owner, Antonio Ramirez. Throughout the meal, he made his way around the restaurant, stopping at each table with a smile to ask how everything was and to make sure guests were enjoying themselves. That level of personal attention is becoming increasingly rare and speaks volumes about how much he cares about both the food and the customer experience. It's also obvious that the local college crowd has discovered this gem. There were plenty of students enjoying dinner, and it seemed like the margaritas were especially popular--particularly when Mom and Dad were picking up the tab! Fortunately, the margaritas are well worth it, with generous pours and plenty of options to choose from. The food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. Most importantly, the flavors felt authentic and homemade rather than the typical chain restaurant version of Mexican food.

No refills except for tea and water; the water is available at spigots attached to the support columns with barrels underneath. Yeah, really. Food was good. Not fantastic, but good. There is a playground area outside for kids; truth be told, I'm not sure if it's a legit playground or yet another aspect of the decorations, but it's there. Seats aren't very comfortable. It's either picnic tables or fairly flimsy chairs like you'd have at an outdoor program. I was pretty uncomfortable after a few minutes, but I like to sit back and lounge in a chair. Nah, these "little pitchers" are paloma-like Jalicesense cocktails served in little clay cups called "cantaritos." Regrettably, I've never tried one. Anyway, in a town that (IMO) has been going downhill for a while when it comes to dining, the modest pan-Latin Cantaritos Cafe is one of the better restaurants to open in Athens post-COVID. In my experience, they've done a great job with everything: breakfast burrito, a Venezuelan (I think?) breakfast sandwich of some sort, massive heavy (a little too heavy, maybe) arepas, all terrific. The menu is huge. Prices have been reasonable, but it's been a few months since I was there. P.S. The review preceding mine by two chronologically is a disgrace: "I love this place," but one star because a single employee on a single occasion didn't adequately kiss her pinkie ring? I said well, you just lost business and shouldn't have your open sign (on the side of the building to draw in traffic) on or door unlocked. I don't understand business' mentality anymore. If I owned a business that served coffee in the mornings and someone came in 15-20 min before we opened because I had my sign on and door unlocked, I would say, "it may take a few extra minutes because we aren't open yet, but what can I get you?" Thats how you keep happy customers. Instead, you turned me away losing that sale, gaining this review, AND I will reconsider next time I decide I may want to eat your food, and just go somewhere else, also this review could affect others coming there, so affecting future sales. If the lights weren't all on, open sign wasn't on, I wouldn't have come in to have this experience. Business', YOU MUST DO BETTER!!! News flash! There are tons of you for us to choose from. When the waiter arrived, he was excited to tell us about the menu, as well as the food itself. He enthusiastically explained that while they had Mexican dishes, authentic Latin food was their real specialty. He made great recommendations and took great care of us throughout the meal. We chose to try the empanadas (1 cheese, 1 chicken, and 1 steak) and some cheese dip with chorizo. Both were exceptional. Full of flavor. My wife and I agreed to split 2 entrees, and that was another good decision. I had the Cachapa with shredded chicken, and she had the Venezuelan Arepas. Neither of us had ever had these dishes, but both were amazing. We were stuffed, but no way we couldn't take a desert home for later. The flan and the Tres Leches were both AWESOME!
