Cali N Tito's is an Athens classic, so while I was in town for the weekend, I had to stop by. It had been a couple of years since my last visit, and I was glad to see the service was still just as fast and friendly as I remembered. It's counter service--you order at the register, find a seat (there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating), and they'll bring your food out. I ordered the fish taco combo, which came with two fish tacos, yuca fries, and a canned drink. The tacos were good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the menu changes. Everything is a combo now, and I was told I couldn't order the tacos by themselves. I wish they'd bring back the à la carte option because I'd rather try a few different things than be locked into one meal. The yuca fry portion was also smaller than I expected--I only got about five fries. Overall, it's still a spot I'd recommend if you're visiting Athens since it's been a local favorite for so long. Was craving Cali n Tito's and finally got the chance to go back to Athens this weekend! Safe to say it still hits just the same even years later. Was pleasantly surprised to see they had a lunch menu that included an entree, side and drink for a banger price (but some days they don't do this deal so you have to ask). Got the veggie Cubano per usual with the legendary pink sauce and it was AMAZING. The yuka fries and plantains were also well done 10/10. Tried the veggie taco and tamale for the first time and those were also very delish and filling entrees. I heard this place was popular, so I called in an order and stopped by here during my lunch break one day. I thought that would have been a good idea because there was quite a line when I arrived, but the food was cold and a little soggy. I ordered the fish tacos, and I felt like it was lacking flavor. I do think it would have been better fresh instead of ordering for pick-up. I would want to try again, ordering and eating it fresh. The vibe of the restaurant is friendly and lively. It's a fairly streamlined operation with tons of options. The boys had burritos, and I got a steak quesadilla with tostones. Cali N Tito's is an Athens STAPLE, hands down. I have been here a few times over the past 10+ years, but I had just recently gone to Athens to celebrate a friend getting his MBA from UGA. Cali N Tito's is some pretty authentic cuisine. They have a pretty big menu filled with non-traditional items as well as some common traditional ones. You will definitely find something you like. I got the original Cuban sandwich and my wife got the chicken Cuban sandwich. Both tasted incredible. It was all so flavorful and they did not skimp on any of the meat at all. We also shared the fries too. They were nice and crispy and had just the right amount of salt. They have a full bar too, so you can get something alcoholic to drink if you like. I got one of the frozen margaritas (I got strawberry.) They also have plenty of non-alcoholic options too, like coke products and juices. Cali N Tito's is also pretty big. There are plenty of places to sit inside and there is plenty of parking as well. The inside decor is colorful and vibrant and there are many things that will remind you of Latin America. A bunch of flags and Latin American themed decor. The service is good, but it can be kind of slow sometimes. We came on a Saturday, and when we first got there, it wasn't too busy, but within the hour, it got packed, and there was a line at the register. But it is definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend Cali N Tito's, and I would definitely come back if I find myself in Athens again. read more

We were excited to find a cool, local place to eat in Athens on a Sunday that was so highly rated. Be aware that you must wait in line to order and then most food is brought out to you. We were in line for perhaps 1/2 hour, which felt like a very long time. Food was delivered pretty quickly. The taste was really fabulous, and portions are large, which is the reason for my four star review. I had three different tacos (pork, beef, and chicken) and had to take one home because there was so much to each taco. The place has a definite college-student vibe with people studying in the uncovered outside section. The picnic tables are a little hard to get into for us older folks, and there are plenty of flies due to the lack of walls. I took no pictures because I was fighting with the flies. The iron horse sculpture in Watkinsville is not far andvery cool to see, and that is what I have a picture of. The BYOB signs and designing-on-a-dime decor were interesting to look at as we waited in line. read more

Caught my first Bulldogs game and stumbled across Cali N Tito's, what a gem! This spot instantly gave me island vibes, reminded me of Puerto Rico with its laid-back energy and colorful setup. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you, which keeps things simple and chill. I went with the original Cuban sandwich and it did not disappoint. It was flavorful and didn't miss. Also grabbed the beef empanada's crispy, savory, and gone in seconds. Service was quick, and they even had a TV outside so I could keep up with the game while I ate. If you're in Athens and want something casual but packed with flavor and character, this place is a vibe. Definitely coming back next time I'm in town. It's wonderful to return years later to Cali N Tito's and discover the quality and deliciousness of their food has remained the same. It still has that eclectic, college dive feel with inside and outside picnic table dining. Tamales have always been my "go to" when eating here, and today they were so good! The salad hubs ordered for me was very fresh, topped with delicious sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes and diced cucumber. The vinegar dressing was light and allows the fresh veggies to sing! The basket of chips with salsa is $2.50- not complimentary. They are crispy and the salsa is homemade goodness. My only complaint is the chips basket needs a larger serving of salsa. Food will be delivered to your table. Food took a little to be ready, but you can see by the picture how busy it got. The bread for the sandwich is light and toasty; you can tell it is baked fresh. All the ingredients were fresh, and it worked together nicely. Prices were reasonable, and the portion was perfect. The sandwiches were $10, and I only ate half. Man I love Cali n Titos and let me tell you why... lively ambience BOOM, yummy food BOOM (specifically the fish burrito o.m.g. the plantains in that thing make your taste buds feel thing they've never felt before), service is nothing outstanding but they've never been rude so that's good enough for me. The only bad experience I've had is when these sorority hags laughed at me for using the mens restroom because the ladies room was occupied. The fries were stuck together in clumps, but were tasty. Our service was middling, sandwiches came out first, followed by fries close to 10 minutes later. All in all a meh experience. I LOVE Cali and Tito's but this location in my opinion is not as amazing as the location on the east side. Still great food but not as great as the other location. Each table was painted to represent a different flag, while the ceiling was decorated with flying flags from around the world also. The staff was friendly and professional (although some of them were distracted by the futból match, haha).
