It was a very cold and windy evening, so environment was not conducive to enjoying the outdoors. The menu is very eclectic, but I two tacos recommended by the chef. Breakfast and Dinner I made my first stop to Taco Moto last year for their breakfast offerings and was just shocked at the portion size - their burritos were huge and more than an average person could consume in a sitting. I ended up back for a Taco Ruck with friends this spring and everyone in my group raved about the tacos and corn cup. I've been back again for breakfast and dinner and they always exceed expecations. This is a small park with a food truck and bar and live music. My friends and I were in the mood for some good tacos and this place showed up as a popular destination. The place had good vibes and was bustling with lots of excitement. We ordered the chicken thigh taco and some corn. The corn was flavorful and lasted like the Spanish Elote, the taco however tasted very bland and flavorless while also being overpriced. Each taco was priced at 4-6$ which is quite steep. My girlfriend and I went to Boone & Crocket for Friday happy hour by the lake, and knew we couldn't leave with out enjoying the greatness that this food truck has to offer. Note: this place is always poppin' so you'll likely have to wait a little bit for your tacos, but it's worth it. They do have a new online ordering system though which is lovely. Simply head to their website on your smart phone (or scan the QR code on the truck), choose the food you'd like, pay and be placed in a "virtual line." You check back to see when your order is ready! Not only does this help negate folks from congregating around the truck, but also allows for you to sit and enjoy your cocktail / the views while you wait. Let me start by telling ya that their chips and queso potentially even outshine their tacos. Like these things are so damn good I want to take bags of them home with me. They're the home-made, deep-fried, perfectly-seasoned, thick, crunchy chips you write home about. And the queso... (*chefs kiss*) so yummy. It's on the thinner side but still super cheesy and delicious. We got the one that included avocado and cilantro - highly recommend. The tacos are also five-stars. They're packed with ingredients, so well worth your buck. My fave is the braised beef chuck: beef, whipped goat cheese, arugula, kimchi, and radish. Need I say more? This food truck is off the charts amazing! It's permanent spot is beside Boone & Crocket, which it has remained loyal to even when B&C was in the old location in Bay View on Kinnickinnic. The food here is delicious and well thought out and pushes the envelop on combining unique flavors - the tacos hit up a classic menu that includes the famous Dr. Pepper braised pork shoulder. It is amazing, but beware, as it has a bit of a kick with freshly sliced jalapeños on it. The grilled chicken thigh comes with feta that adds a creaminess to each bite and pickled peppers give an extra snap. The sides are what really do it for me, though. The chips and queso are extraordinary (I don't know what they do to make/fry the chips, but they're crispy and flaky and with the perfect amount of seasoning.) The version of Mexican street corn is loved by all - the corn has an added cheese, set of spices and the crunchy chips added into the mix for a full set of flavors and textures. Taco Moto is a taco truck with (what seems to be) a permanent parking spot at Boone & Crocket. If you're going to Boone & Crocket for drinks and wouldn't mind a taco or two (because, who would mind a taco or two), you can simply order at the truck and they'll whip you up some deliciousness, put it on a tray, and you can bring it right back inside. If it's cold out, you can even order, go back inside, and then head back out after 5-10 minutes to retrieve your tacos. When we went, they were running short on supplies (no chicken), but we were more than happy to order their root vegetable tacos and some chips and queso on the side. The tacos were tasty. The chips and queso stole the show. Freshly fried tortilla chips and flavorful queso (not sure what all was in it, but definitely cilantro). I finally found my way to the new Boone and Crockett. It took me awhile. But part of my reason was wanting to try the tacos. And they were amazing. I passed up an authentic-taco truck on my way over there (with some regret) but these were really good. Quality ingredients, house-made pickles, good flavor balance. Plus you can order and get a drink at Boone's patio bar, at least for now while it's warm enough. They're not "authentic" Mexican style tacos, they're more chef's creations. But they are double-wrapped in corn tortillas, which is nice. They're pretty substantial also. I ended up eating two (ordered separately) and was full enough that someone offered me a chicken wing later, at another place, and I declined because I wasn't hungry even though they smelled delicious. I had the seasonal crispy oyster mushroom taco and the chicken thigh taco. The thigh was nice, with its pickled peppers and ample portion of juicy grilled chicken, but the oyster mushroom was the goods. Good enough I didn't mind paying an extra dollar for a vegetarian item. It's tempura-battered oyster mushroom with a buttermilk salad, radishes, pumpkin seeds, and cotija cheese. Come to think of it I didn't even mind waiting a few minutes because they might have been frying my mushrooms. I would go back just for that. I saw people getting the grilled corn cup too and it looked amazing. It was a large enough portion to be a side for two though, or work for one person maybe with one taco. It's good to eat when you're drinking, and Taco Moto is perfectly placed for eating-when-drinking. They've carved out a niche but the food is also really good. I think they'll do well. read more

This is another well thought out food truck - from the placement inside the Boone and Crockett area, the ordering logistics and the menu. I went on a pretty busy night and it didn't take very long to get food. I was with a larger group and we all really liked what we had - especially the queso. I had the pork belly seasonal taco and the Dr Pepper braised pork - both very flavorful and nicely sized! I also had the queso which was warm and delicious - chips were a tiny bit salty and greasy in spots but hey that's a real chip for ya. The corn in a cup left something to be desired as did making a taco west allis style. I've been to the Taco Moto food truck a couple times, once a couple years ago and again today. I really love these tacos! The oyster mushroom taco which is a seasonal menu option is so crispy and delicious. The queso is so savory and seasoned perfectly, not bland at all. The braised beef tongue taco I remember was pretty good but it looks like they changed it to a a beef chuck taco which my fiancé tried and wasn't too crazy about. I'm assuming they may have changed it due to expenses or because of COVID. Either way, I would really recommend this truck. It's located in a really cool area and when the bars open up and things get back to normal, it'll be so nice to get a drink from Boone and crockett and then a taco from here. Ohhhh damn, these are some fine taco's! Was recommended by a Milwaukee local to try this place and was glad we did. It was a cool autumn night that had just stopped raining - which was lucky cause it turns out this place is a food truck outside a cocktail bar. Ordered chips and salsa, and the corn cup. Both delicious. The salsa was super chunky which I loved. For the Tacos we all got the Dr Pepper beef which turned out to be all of our favourite! Had some nice heat to it with fresh jalapeño the meat was perfect and the combination of other flavours was just right. I also got a Plant-taco (plantain with pork) again really tasty but I did add some corn chips to give it some texture and crunch. I also had the mushroom which was not at all what I was expecting but was so good. Some others had the tuna, root vegetable and grilled chicken taco's all got the thumbs up. The hot sauces available were all really good but I didn't find any of them hot enough (I like it ) even the one called danger hot would be best described as mild. But had good flavour. This was such a delicious small taco truck! We were heading to the Pedal Tavern downtown town Milwaukee and the truck was right next door! It was nice to grab a quick lunch (made in less than 10 minutes) before heading in the pedal tavern! The corn salsa and chips/pickled dip were both delicious! We also got the chicken cheese taco and plantaco! The plantaco was sweet with a hearty mix of spices. They each had rich flavors and the tacos were a good size (i was fine with 1 for a small lunch). They do charge $1 for credit/debit so consider bringing cash. It's a perfect place for a quick bite with outdoor seating (or bring it on the pedal wagon if you're heading on that after). I got the pork, beef, and seared ahi tacos which were all pretty decent. The truck excels in delivering solid flavors as each taco tasted very unique from the others. Their technical cooking, however, is only so-so. The meats in general were slightly over-cooked and the tortillas were clearly not freshly warmed but had been blistering from being steamed earlier. I did also get the churros which were under-cooked with some slightly raw dough in the middle but the cooked portions were actually quite delicious on their own without the chocolate sauce. I'd expect a wait of about 15 minutes for an order of three tacos. If you're hungry and getting off a pedal tavern, Taco Moto is a decent and very convenient place to eat but there's probably better tacos in town. read more

This taco truck lives at Boone & Crockett (Great unique bar!) and serves chips & guac/queso and tacos! The new location of both these establishments is a big upgrade for the inside of the building the only unfortunate thing about the outside patio is the smell. It didn't ruin our experience but it is definitely very pungent. The queso is delicious and you get a hearty serving. We needed to get more chips in order to use all of our queso. We approached the truck and very lightly he told us well its either $1 or a joke-how fun! We quickly scrambled to come up with a very (cheesy) joke. They weren't impressed but we got our chips! From there I ordered a few tacos-the braised beef and chicken. Both were delicious. The only thing I would change is that they update their menu a little bit from summer to summer. But all in all you can get great drinks inside, good food outside and enjoy the banter you will have with the guys inside the truck also! read more

So I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now and while I was at my barber someone mentioned how awful the food was that they had catered. That person has Mexican heritage so I knew right then that they like their tacos a certain way and have higher standards for food that comes from their heritage. Well, I still had to try for myself because I don't trust other people's taste bud judgement and I honestly enjoy experimental / different ingredient style tacos. We ordered one of every taco, along with some chips and queso. The tacos were sadly pretty bland. The only taco that had a lot of flavor was the ground beef which was extremely salty. The chips were super greesy but I appreciated the effort on the seasoning of the chips. The queso was the best part of the meal, but you really can't mess that up. The cheese was a little too sharp IMO but still good nonetheless. My daughter, wife and I have been in and out of the bathroom for the last 12 hours as well. We all had the food. I usually don't write reviews and try very hard to be understanding about customer service and how it is an extremely tough job. But I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life at this place tonight! I was grabbing drinks with coworkers and we decided to grab tacos from here as it was right next to the bar we were at. My coworkers put through a few orders as well. I go to grab my food and I tell the guy working my name and he says that he just gave my order to someone else. It ended up being my coworker who had already began eating the food, so I asked the guy who's working what I should do. I am not joking, this dude looked at me and said "well I'm not making you your food gain" in an extremely rude tone. He then tells me that "I have to take it up with my coworker". I understand that we had a similar order and it could be mixed up, but he could have handled the situation much better and didn't even try to give me any food after I had already paid for it. My coworker ended up going over there and having to pay for another order of chips and queso because he wouldn't provide another although it was his fault that he made the mistake. read more

Milwaukee has it's fair share of truly amazing taco joints and this one tops the list for me. Understand, everyone has a different taste in tacos. I have taken friends there who have loved it the same as I do, and have taken friends who have hated it and couldn't finish the meal. For me, Taco Moto has captured everything I love. The selections are unique - Dr. Pepper braised pork shoulder, seared Ahi Tuna, and interesting specials such as fried cod (A perfect special for Lent! Thank you guys). There are also great options for vegetarians and vegans, which makes it such a great and versatile place to bring groups. The queso is so fun to share, and I like their recipe and chip style. It is a thick white queso with avocado in the middle and cheese on top. Some people might prefer quesos of different consistencies,cheeses, and add-ins, but if you are looking for a unique, hearty version, this is it. For the friends who couldn't quite love this place, the problem was the selection and the price. The tacos are a little expensive when compared to other tacos in the area. The humorous creators of the truck included an option for a plain taco with any meat, aptly named "Enemy of Quality". I am not sure if it was the price of this taco ($4) or the name, but my group opted to get the tacos with toppings (Also $4). They picked them apart, wiped off the aioli between the shells, and chewed around the radishes and pickled veggies. Thank goodness, the queso was a hit for everybody, and the quiet complaint about the hidden avocado center did not stop anybody from finishing the cheese. That being said, if you are taking picky eaters or children here, please recommend the plain taco. The meat itself is worth trying, and the atmosphere is so fun, especially on a nice day and with some drinks from the bar inside. I loved Gypsy Taco when it was a little truck in Boone and Crockett's backyard. The atmosphere there was inarguably better, but they have done a fantastic job of turning the Hot Water Warehouse into a hot spot with B&C. The only things I wish I could change are the fishy smell and the prices- otherwise, it is so nice to drive over, park, eat a quick meal and have a drink, and carry on with the day. Have spent countless summer happy hours here with coworkers, and hope to spend many more. PS. The side item "Pickles" could use better explanation on the menu board. Aforementioned picky eaters were not pleased with the cup of pickled veggies they were given .. thought it was going to be actual pickles. I had to admit that it wasn't clear what that was. I can see how this truck could get 5 stars for their food. Great comida, however, tonight their customer service person / order taker could use some etiquette and experience, or simply a smile. There were a dozen of us that got off of a pedal tavern (an early route) and when we were ordering food near 8pm, the guy that was taking out order was not a people person. He managed to make every one of our six couples feel small and annoying. If this had been circumstantial, I'd have not reviewed- but if you're a great place with great reviews, keep a positive, smiling person in the foreground for your customers. read more
