We stopped at Blue Bat after a boat ride on the river to grab a small bite and it was a wonderful experience. Most notably, the waitstaff was so gracious; we sat outside despite impending rain but they kept checking the weather for us and moved us inside before we got drenched. The atmosphere is so bright and fun with multiple floors that are very open and then patio seating as well. I got the mule to drink and it was actually one of the best mules I've had (I'm a mule connoisseur). The table got some chips and salsa/queso, the chips were really great with a unique seasoning on them that I had never experienced elsewhere. Then for a snack I got the hot honey bao which was fantastic. I can't wait to go back to try more of the menu!

Service was great and super friendly. The layout of the restaurant allows quiet corners or open conversations as well as views of the river. A nice bar with a barman that know his craft. The cocktails were just fantastic. The food was a little hit and miss for me. Great flavors but some of the dishes, specifically the handhelds were not great value.

I love that this is right on the water, to me there is nothing better than enjoying good food and company while being on the water. I would go back just for these chips!!! Fresh perfectly cooked and seasoned so nicely I like the different options for the hand helds, the curry one was my favorite. The drinks were good, service was good

Yum! Friends have been talking about this place for awhile. Easy to find a spot at the bar- not as busy as I expected. Food was good, service OK ( a bit slow, imo) great river views.

Happy Hour at Blue Bat was the perfect post work spot on a sunny day! They have the best (only) waterfront patio in Third Ward and we enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Riverwalk while enjoying their happy hour menu specials. I love their creative tacos and customizable house margaritas.

We stopped here for an early dinner while in the area. It was an inviting setting overlooking the water. It was pretty good. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp Handheld. While it was tasty, it was smaller than I thought it was going to be. My son ordered his Steak Handheld as a bowl. It was fairly expensive, but it was the better way to go in terms of the amount of food you get for the price. The street corn was amazing. We ordered it off the corn which made it easier to share but I think you may get more if you order it on the cob. If you order a handheld, I recommend you order more than one or order it as a bowl.

I dunno, I really wanted to like this place, but left feeling underwhelmed. First, the pros: Great location right on the river with awesome views if you happen to snag a table outside -- there's patio and/or sidewalk seating. Also, they do happy hour, though it's mostly for discounted drinks and light side dishes. The space inside is cool, airy and modern, with a full bar and lots of seating. Also -- service is delightful. My food options though, I would not order again. Maybe I just chose wrong, but the Tandoori 'handheld' - basically marinated chicken and yogurt with parsley on flatbread - suffered from being almost suffocated by its wrapper. The flatbread (practically naan) was way too dense and thick, making it hard to get a sense of the flavors within. The 'Baja' taco - or handheld, if you like, since it did not resemble a Baja style fish taco - was a saucy mess, with the tempura batter coming apart in a river of chipotle aioli and a heavy topping of onions. The batter served no purpose - under the aioli it just turned soft and cold, as did the cod underneath. I give them props for trying something interesting but the results need refining. Great view though.

Came here with some friends and had a solid night! I got the house margarita with mango which was really good and flavorful. Definitely the highlight of the night! I went with the Hot Honey Bao as a bowl. It was good overall, but I was hoping for a bit more flavor or more veggies! They've got a few vegetarian options, which is always a plus. I'd definitely come back to try their other handhelds or drinks :-)

Came here for a bday dinner, and was pleasantly surprised by the spot! It's on the riverwalk downtown, and had a lot of seating, a great mango margarita, and some unique taco choices. The hot honey bao was my favorite! A little steep for the individual tacos but worth giving a try! The appetizers were pretty good as well. Small portioned potatoes and Brussels sprouts were yummy. Service was great.

I've ever been here before recently and have always wanted to try it since it's by businesses and restaurants that I love. Our server was kind and let me order a few drinks for me and my friend that was running late before the happy hour deal ended. We loved our house margs that had fruit flavor without being too sweet. I got the mushroom barbacoa as a bowl, it was lacking flavor and a little lackluster, not sure I'd get it again. My friend got some tacos and thought they were fine , but not amazing. Not the exciting spot I thought it was going to be but I would return for the drinks and apps! Loved the chips and dips.

It's been awhile since we last popped into Blue Bat, but we were near by before a dinner rez down the road and thought we'd grab a refreshing drink. I've always been a fan of their margs because they're not too sweet, like so many others around town. It was a Monday night and not too busy, but service was still on the slower side. Nonetheless, the staff we're all friendly. We narrowly missed happy hour unfortunately so my husband's mezcalita was $14 instead of $10, since it's not on the regular menu. Little steep imo, but he enjoyed it! They use ancho reyes chili liqueur and jalapeno simple to add the heat. Oh and it's served in a pretty glass. I went for the the house marg and made it spicy - super tasty but almost wish there was more heat. All in all, this spot doesn't disappoint on food, drinks, or river views. We both noted how it's been too long since we've been here for dinner (and our fave tuna poke nachos app), so I'm sure we'll make our way back soon enough!

I always end up at this spot mid afternoon on Saturday lol. Ample seating, service is great. Nice spot for a quick drink or date night. Tacos were tasty, tequila was plentiful

I only got appetizers and a few drinks from here but it was all good! My first Bloody Mary ever (on the menu is called Bloody Maria) and it was delicious! I also love the location of this place, the views of the river are really nice. Definitely recommend if you're in the area. Service was also good, I was there on an early Friday afternoon so it wasn't busy either

They vary the featured cocktails menu every 8 weeks, so most likely you'll get a different experience every time you go. However you can always get your classic cocktails like Margaritas, French 75 and Martinis. They also can do any drink NA which is the first of its kind in the US. They have an option called dealers choice, where you can pick the spirit and flavor profile of the drink you want: spicy, sour, floral, smoky etc. no limits! We got spring rolls, a braised, pork infused doughnut, and an incredible bone broth that still has me in a tizzy. Fair warning: it's small and difficult to get a reservation - don't try your luck walking in, this place is a hot ticket and you won't be able to get in without a resy, which could be weeks or months out. We stopped here after dinner, so we stuck mostly with the cocktails. Unfortunately, nothing on the seasonal menu really stuck out to me. I stuck with the "traditional" cocktails (spicy watermelon bubblegum, and then banana daiquiri). Hubs went for the halo halo food (which was so cute! All the typical ingredients but served in cubist fashion), and the paired drink. The paired drink was supposed to have different layers of flavor, but they all mixed together quite a bit. Tasty, just not the "layered" experience we thought. I think they almost do themselves a disservice comparing themselves to the aviary - that is a crazy high bar to meet. Granted, maybe we would have been more impressed if we had more of the seasonal cocktails despite them not seeming interesting? Probably wouldnt go out of my way to go here again, but it is a cool vibe and the cocktails were good.

Pretty much all of the cheeses and accoutrements were fantastic! One of the cheese on our plate was the espresso version of Bellavitano, which happens to be one of my favorites, so that was a nice little bonus for me. In addition to the board, we also went with the ricotta bites, which featured one sweet and one savory option, both of which we also really liked. The shop is cozy and if this was somewhere that I lived walking distance from, I could totally see myself coming here fairly regularly and having a little cheese and ambiance. During our time there we saw both couples on dates and old friends gathering for a drink and a nosh, all of which I found just wonderful. Really the only thing keeping this from a five star review was that the side items, such as the crackers were not plentiful enough for the cheese. I know that ratio can be hard to nail but it was not quite on the mark here, unfortunately. However, that would not be enough to prevent me from returning!
