Menu: **** Service: ***** Ambiance: **** Value: ***** 4.5 stars if possible. First visit here, stopped in for lunch. Not real busy and we were seated immediately. Nice menu with plenty of options ala carte or full meals, small bar at the back of the restaurant, limited seating so be prepared if it is a nice day and time of day I would assume. They came with chips and salsa that had a bit of a kick. Price was very reasonable. The combo dinner included taco, tostada and enchilada (steak, ground beef or chicken) I got steak. Only disappointment was you could only get one choice of beef for all three. Rice and refried beans with the dinner plate. Price, $13.99 very reasonable for downtown. We did not try their margs, but they looked good. Overall, very good and we would come back for sure. Worth the try and visit.

Our party stopped on the way to a show in downtown and had a lovely late lunch. We went on a Saturday and the place was hopping. The noise in this small location was a steady buzz but we managed to converse just fine. The obligatory salsa and chips arrived and were very good. The salsa was freshly made and just spicy enough for everyone at our table to cope with. Our knowledgeable server steered us through the menu and I had their taco dinner with carne asada steak. Others had the Tostada dinner and the Hot Dog Taco meal. My taco was excellent on a wheat tortilla. The steak was nicely seasoned and the sides were delish. My partner's tostadas were equally yummy. The hot dog taco was the talk of the table when it arrived. It was a big hot dog...on a taco. I've gotta admit I had never heard of such a thing before. The person who ordered it declared it to be very good and polished it off in short order. It's located on the west side of Milwaukee near the Marquette campus, so there's a steady stream of students to keep things lively. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

The atmosphere was very nice. Love the decor. We immediately got serviced. The food was good. They do give you a lot of meat in your tacos.

Starting with the good: the Birria was one of the best we've ever had. If you're going to have anything here, this should be it. The Tostado we had was also on point. Constructed beautifully and delicious. The Taco was fine. No complaints but no wow factor either. You can't order an Enchilada ala carte but you are able to get a single one as a part of a dinner plate (one taco, one tostada, one enchilada). I don't know that seems weird but okay. The enchilada itself was just okay. It had a thicker sauce, wasn't very warm and had a cold spot in the center which really bummed me out. While the chimichanga had good flavor--it's so big that the bites you take become unbalanced. Instead of the perfect bite of a little shell, meat, and cheese, you often end up with one or the other. We'd rather have a couple smaller chimi's. The rice and beans were cold and had no flavor at all. While I understand sides are prepared in a larger portion ahead of time for quick turnaround--that should never happen. I don't know if it was an off day for them but we left thinking exactly what I opened with: if you're going to get anything here, get the Birria.

Our friends brought us here and food and drinks were awesome! Staff was nice and food came quickly - it wasn't very busy. It has a casual feel with rustic/Mexican decor.

Saw the raving reviews for this place for their birria. I'm not a big fan of it and love carne asada tacos. Got that and pastor taco plate. The tacos were overall a 3.75/5 I've had better food trucks in mke but the star of the show was the free chips and salsa. The salsa was the best salsa I've ever had in my life. I am not joking. I will go back for that salsa. It was so fresh and so flavorful. Chips were not the basic ones at Mexican chains either. 10/10 chips and salsa. It was almost more of a pico. But sooooo good.

1st time here. Seat yourself. (Realized when leaving it wasn't a seat yourself but no-one acknowledged us when we walked in) Took waitress 10 min to acknowledge me and bring silverware(no water), she stated she is making a drink for someone and will come take drink order, mind you the guy who went to bar came after we sat. But makes sense because we sat ourself smh She finally helps and seems not pleasant but not rude... like she doesn't like we sat our self lol again only reason we did is because no one acknowledged us We ordered a 1/2 pitcher margarita $16 ( happy hour) and what we thought 2.25 tacos which we got steak (carne asada) so was extra no problem because they were good. Added sour cream and that added 1.50 to bill. We also got chips complimentary with salsa that was veryyyy good. Overall the food is good would go again and NOT sit myself. I noticed alit of perhaps regulars, but I feel regardless you should make everyone feel welcome, and this visit not so much. But I always give 2nd chances and I think food is worth it.

Stopped in for lunch and was very pleased. Lazo's was fairly empty at lunch, but I had seen enough of the Birria taco pictures in my feed to know to order just that! Immediately after I sat down, a party of thirteen walked in. Sacre bleu- take my order quickly! The party of thirteen during normal lunch hours did gum up the service a bit. I LOL'd when one of them said "we're on a bit of a time crunch." But the birria tacos and consomme were great! The dining area is nicely decorated. In December it might be essential to get one of those temporary outdoor wind blockers for the door that leads directly in, as it was mildly freezing indoors from carryout traffic going in and out. I can't believe Lazo's has been open in this location for three years - I guess I'm not often hungry in this immediate area, but I'll be back.

ICYMI: It's Latinx Heritage Month (9/15-10/15) so go support an awesome Latinx-owned business like this one! I ordered lunch for delivery on Friday, and oh my goodness was it an extremely tasty meal. I've actually never eaten inside this restaurant, but have always had good takeout experiences. They use EatStreet as a third party delivery service, which was not only easy and convenient, but the food arrive quick and still pipping hot. Somehow I've lived my whole life without trying Birria tacos, and Lazo's was a wonderful first experience. I received four shredded beef tacos, in which the the corn tortillas were pan-fried and crispy. Like nothing I've ever had before. They were stuffed with a very generous amount of meat, melty cheese, onion and cilantro. The tacos alone had amazing flavor, but on the side came consomè to dip these bad boys in and it added even more good taste to each bite. Consomé is the liquid the birria meat cooks and ends up being soup-like with added ingredients like tomato, chiles, garlic and more. 10/10 birria tacos, definitely recommend!

These are hands down the BEST, most flavorful birria tacos in Milwaukee! The owner also literally walks around and speaks to every person who comes into the restaurant. The customer service is great. I do admit I was shocked at first that the tacos didn't come with rice and beans but let me tell you I couldn't even finish my tacos- they're so filling. They're even good reheated. The drink could have been stronger but it was delicious. I will DEFINITELY be back!!

That sauce was so good and so was my drink

Crispy, cheesy bites tacos. Incredible. Consume was on the thicker side which I love. Elotes were rich and creamy. Great spot.

Tortillas were crispy and fried to perfection. The consommé was delicious, had me drinking it straight out the cup and was well seasoned, hot, and was in its own something to right about. The red and green salsas were also good. Red having a bit of kick, green was flavorful. I will say that I wish one of them had more heat to it but the acidity and flavors were great. The beef itself was so flavorful and tender, well seasoned, not to mention had the perfect amount in each item. Also, Onions and peppers on the side were cooked great and had me going back for more each time. Also, get the horchata, it was spectacular. This place is small but decorated to really feel like the owners, workers, really care and take pride in the establishment. It had a great ambiance that was full of people on a rainy lunch hour, and I can see why. As a person who works in the industry as a cook, the kitchen, which you can see when you order is neat, clean, and truly has the right feel of 'they know what they're doing and they're doing it well'. 5 stars, will be talking about this meal for a long time and spreading the recommendation to as many people as I can.

It came with the Mexican Rice and Cowboy Beans and churros for dessert. I also got the Rudy's classic margarita. We didn't see the waitress too much but they might've been busy or maybe she was the only one on staff. She was super nice though and got all of our orders correct. When we asked to split the checks at the end, it was sort of odd that they divided everything evenly, including drinks and put 1/4 of each drink on each check. The guacamole was nice and fresh and came with little tortilla strips on top which I took off to dip the tortilla chips in. The queso was nice, salty, and well seasoned. The Margarita was delicious, well blended, just strong enough and a nice size. As far as tacos, The Argentinian steak taco was definitely my favorite. The meat was cooked perfectly and very well seasoned. The El Pastor was also very flavorful and the avo vinaigrette that came on it paired well with the dish. The shrimp on the crispy shrimp taco were big and flavorful, just a little on the dry side. The rice and beans were pretty standard, nothing super special or memorable. The churros came out warm, nice crunch on the outside and soft in the middle. The white dipping sauce reminded me of cereal and the darker one was a chocolate with almost a mole sauce type taste. Super fun place and I would definitely come back!

It was refreshing, and I would order it again. Our table had multiple baskets of chips and salsa, and I added a bowl of queso fundido (chihuahua cheese, pepper jack cheese, corn salsa, paprika, and cilantro). My end of the table went through it quickly. For my meal I had two tacos, the Gringo Pollo (part of the Thursday special) and the Tuna Poke. Both came with items removed at my request and were tasty. Service was quick, and Oliver was friendly. Prices are reasonable, though a bit higher than I'd prefer. This would be an occasional fun spot for me, not my go-to taco place.
