The tacos are homemade and delicious. The burritos are huge. The sopas are light and can take any filling. Everything is made to order, nothing sits around. Service is amazing. The people there are so friendly. They can be busy and still be friendly and take your order in a timely fashion. I ordered from here the other day. I got the burrito loco the junior size and it kind of surprised me. I expected more seasoned chicken but it was somewhat bland. However, the rest of it gave the chicken flavor. It was almost light in taste if that's even a thing with burritos. The salsa wasn't great at all. The only thing I could taste was tomatoes and that was it. I wouldn't order the salsa again as old El Paso had better flavor than that. My taco salad was good but my husbands enchilada platter was awful. The tortillas were floppy and tasteless. The enchiladas had nothing but chicken in them with some cheese sprinkled on top. They covered it in sour cream (which was not in the explanation) and put NO red sauce on the enchiladas and the description promises they'll be smothered in delicious red sauce. I've been here before, but today tried something different. Ordered a chicken burrito. Jr size. It came cut in half, stuffed full of chicken, rice and beans! On the side was a small amount of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and cheese to add. It was definitely big enough for junior size, and quite tasty! Also had horchata to drink. Easily one of the best taco places around. The tacos are always on point. I've tried the asada, al pastor and carnitas and have never been disappointed. The little side sauces are amazing, although they forget them sometimes on to go orders. The burrito loco is great and the junior size is the perfect size for me. The aguas frescas are good. Were in Tavares on errands & needed a quick bite to eat. Ordered 2 tacos de birria (asada) & a torta de asada. Free chips & salsa (first two orders) while we waited, chips made fresh & salsa was fresh & refreshing. The agua frescas (we ordered horchata & jamaica) were freshly made in-house & delicious. You have the option to order birria in tacos, a quesadilla, or a burrito. The taste was savory & tortillas were crispy while saturated with flavor & melted cheese. The torta was also great. Highly recommend the medium avocado salsa with whatever you're ordering. Rice & beans were also fresh - the rice was probably the best we've had out to eat. This little place is a hidden gem. It's very clean, small and family run. The menu is fairly limited and simple. They offer several varieties of tacos, burritos all of which are freshly prepared by the owner. Additionally offered at my last visit was chili relleno which was traditionally prepared and delicious. The cafe is in a very nondescript strip mall in an industrial type of area. It doesn't look like much. But... I don't go back because of the outside look. I go back because it is so good! I've had just about everything on the menu. And almost everything I've had is top notch. The street tacos -- wonderful. The al pastor is my favorite. But I really like all the other types too. The burrito is huge. My wife and I split it. The ceviche is shrimp, and is decent - not as good as the tacos. The people are great. There are two Almas there. Young Alma waits on you. She is a sweet you high schooler. Her mother, Alma, cooks and makes the agua frescas. Please try them. I hope they reopen after the Caronavirus passes. I miss my tacos! read more

Perhaps we caught them on the wrong day. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I can only go by our experience the first (and last) time we will dine here. To start with, soda's are by the can. Not terrible, as some small establishments can't afford a fountain. We will give them a pass on this. We were provided complimentary chips and salsa. Store bought chips, and salsa that tasted like it came out of a jar. The meal only went down-hill from there. I had the Burrito Loco with Chorizo sausage. I don't know how the kitchen managed to do it, but they managed to provide a burrito that was both dry and oily at the same time. The inside of my bean, cheese, rice, and meat burrito didn't have any beans whatsoever. The cheese was congealed into a cement that had glued a good portion of the rice to the oily tortilla. As for the meat, it was applied sparingly, to say the least. What was provided lacked any texture or real flavor. My wife ordered the chicken quesadilla, and it was equally disappointing. I don't know how a Mexican establishment can screw up tortilla, cheese, and chicken, but they managed to do it. As I said, maybe we caught them on a bad night. Unfortunately we will never be able to tell, as there won't be a second meal here. read more

Taco Time deserves a 5 Star based on all criteria. The Food, of course, is the primary rated element in rating and TT achieves that based on the really authentic flavorful tacos we had. Pork, Chicken, Marinated Pork from all 3 varieties on the menu. Just excellent. What really carries them is the dipped in oil soft corn tortilla shells...fantastic, great corn flavor! Great sauces provided. TT is a clean open inviting eatery. Noticeably clean. Our server was very friendly, prompt and actually enjoyed the fact we enjoyed our meal. Pricing, very competitive and very reasonable. We are confident other menu items would be equally as good as the Tacos are. We will return. Highly recommended. It is as good as it gets? Just finished our first trip to Taco Time in Tavares (on Taco Tuesday, of course). It's located at the end of a nondescript strip mall just outside Tavares on old 441 and it's easy to miss. The interior is sparkly clean, in contrast to the surrounding areas which tend to be less welcoming. Seating is small but probably adequate and the atmosphere is tasteful but not overblown. But to the tacos: we ordered the $1.00 Tuesday taco, but were not given the choice between soft and crunchy shells and we honestly didn't know which would show up. To our dismay, it was the soft ones (we learn later that there is a slight up charge for crispy taco shells, which I would have gladly paid if given the choice). We did order a couple of crunchy ones and it was WELL worth the extra .50 each. There are choices of fillings, even on the Taco Tuesday special. The topping we got was extraordinary. I mean really, really good. And it's the topping that sets these tacos apart from their competitors. It's WAY beyond what you expect, by a long shot. Just really tasty and miles from the seasoned beef that most people try to pass as a taco. I wanted to spoon up the overflow - and I would have IF we had been given silverware and napkins, (which we were not until requested). But as seasoned taco lovers know, it ain't really about the surroundings, it's about the taco. And the taco was worth it, in spades. This place is new, and a local news story strongly implied (incorrectly) that this was a lunch-only place and that may have dramatically cut down on evening diners. In fact, we delayed trying it for over two weeks because we could never make it for lunch. But, alas, they are open until 8:00 p.m. This is one of those places you'll keep as your "secret surprise" until you bring a big group out and impress them with your "hyper-local taco find" on Tuesday nights. I presume the other menu items are good too, but that is for another day. read more
