And here on a Sunday afternoon while driving through town! I noticed immediately how crowded this place was which told me immediately that this is local favorite for Mexican food!! The hostess seated us in a booth and I noticed they were very friendly and helpful! The Mexican hospitality was on point!! The tortilla and salsa that most Mexican restaurants serve when seated was better than most places! Looks & tastes like they are made in house! We ordered the food and it arrived piping hot within 8 to minutes! The food was plentiful and delicious! I had to take some home as I could not eat it all in one sitting! Customer service really makes an experience better. We have been here several times, always hoping it will get better. It never does, and you only hope that the service that everyone else is getting is good. The food is dry, and not what people rave about when it comes to Mexican. You would be better off going to the other Mexican restaurant or going to Taco Bell down the street. read more

It was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. We went to this restaurant for my birthday and it was a complete disaster. The food took 30 minutes, and when it came out, it was lacking the ingredients the menu said would be part of the meal. The food was completely burnt and not edible. When the waitress asked if everything was okay, I mentioned the missing items, and she rolled her eyes, shook her head, and walked away. I was given the wrong drink and then was stuck with having to drink it because they refused to fix it. I asked for a refill, and the waitress rolled her eyes and walked away. She said, "Oh my god," when we asked for boxes. I was also given spoiled sour cream. The bill came to over $70 for inedible food, and the only thing the waitress cared about was her tip. Personally, the food was beyond subpar, and so was the service. It's definitely not worth going back!​ read more

We're going back even though we have no other reason to go out there because of the tacos al pastor, which are the best I have ever eaten. The Taco Wagon is basically a food truck with a parking lot and a couple of picnic tables- what they lack in ambiance, they more than make up for in sheer deliciousness and the low, low prices. This Mexican restaurant has become my favorite after 2 visits. Brand new "brick & mortar" restaurant that has been remodeled next to the Pizza Hut. I recall it's early days as a carry out trailer in a parking lot off of confederate blvd. My stepson took my wife here to eat and the reviews were good so I figured I'd try it which is a rarity for me, since I rarely eat out. Tried the chicken quesadilla with rice & it was outstanding. Service was great & prices considering what's going on lately with inflation are reasonable. There aren't many restaurants in Appomattox so this one is a pleasant surprise. read more

We have another local Tex Mex place in Appomattox and this place has better prices, better food, and by far better service. Since Taco Wagon opened a restaurant (they used to only be a food truck), we haven't been back to the other place. I've only had slow service here 1 time (out of like 50 visits) and the waitress wasn't slow, just the kitchen. An absolute delight! The restaurant is bigger than you think and can comfortably accommodate a large number of people. The menu is vast and I am sure there is something for anyone who likes authentic Mexican food. The staff is friendly and polite. The food is cooked to perfection and not rushed. I thoroughly enjoyed a special called El Popeye. The portion was huge and I had some leftover to take home and enjoy again. Great food and lots of it at a very good price. We had carnitas, pollo loco and chorizo queso and a drink. Prompt service and only $33. The carnitas were prepared exactly the way I like. The restaurant was clean and bright. The food was very bland. My steak had no flavor and the shredded lettuce tasted like plastic. Our waitress was missing the majority of the time. It took 20 minutes to get our drink orders and 20 minutes after that to for her to come back and get our food orders then 20 minutes to make the food. Our drinks were never refilled. 40 minutes after getting served our food she comes back and asked if we want a box, she brought those right over. Ten minutes later no receipt no waitress. I had to go to the front to tell another employee what we ordered and pay there. The restaurant was not crowded and appeared to be staffed appropriately. read more
