First time eating here and I wasn't sure how filling the burritos would be but let me just say, they are definitely a meal in themselves! And man they were good! I got the roast chicken burrito with a fish taco and crispy chicken taco as well. My burrito was insanely delicious! I think my favorite thing about it was the chipotle mayo they used, it complimented the chicken so well! And speaking of chicken, I appreciated that they were cut into fairly small pieces. But between the moist chicken, rice, and beans, the burrito was so much food! I did enjoy the fish tacos, extremely messy though because they use such big pieces the stuff barely fits in the small taco. Also not quite as tasty as the burrito in my opinion. I wasn't a fan of the crispy chicken taco though. The chicken tasted a bit subpar and seemed like it had more crispy skin than actual meat. If I go again I'd just skip the tacos and get a burrito which was plenty of food to fill me up. My burrito was definitely a 5/5 and I'd recommend that for sure! read more

If you're looking for authentic Mexican tacos, this is not the place. But it provides a different take to the explosion of flavor when you mix meat, tomatoes, vegetables, and sauces. I particularly liked the tuna taco. Considering the size of the tacos, they are good value at $8-$9 each. I was pleasantly surprised with the nacho - it was huge! We all enjoyed our food. The flavor was good. Unfortunately my tacos were cold and a little on the too spicy side. My husbands tacos were luke-warm and the chicken was a little over cooked. He did enjoy his experience. Also, I had a Phillips soda, never had one for those before. It was not great. It was actually rather terrible. Which I understand this restaurant does not make the soda, but I was NOT expecting a root beer with cloves in it and other spices. My personal experience wasn't great, but I can see how it could be for others. If I lived here I'd probably give it a second try. But since we don't, I definitely wouldn't try it again whilst traveling. I was actually really bummed about my experience there considering we're only visiting Victoria for a few days. read more

When in Victoria, Tacofino is a MUST! We have been here so many times now and we've had an amazing time at this taco joint! We've tried the yam taco, fish taco and beans tacos. They're all delicious. The fish burrito is hands down my favourite; it's bursting with delightful flavors and perfectly cooked fish. However, do keep in mind that there might be some line-ups, but trust me, the taste is worth every minute of waiting! The service was great; the staff was friendly, attentive, and made the entire dining experience enjoyable. They have a great ambiance, I enjoy watching the chefs put together our foods. The hostess will bring your food to your table. They have gender neutral restrooms as well. I love their arts on the wall. It's creative and fun! I've never been blown away by a burrito before but geeeezzzzz, now I know what the hype is about. There were so many choices, so I asked the cashier what they are know for and she pointed out the crispy chicken burrito and the fish tacos. Okay, very typical recommendations. With my first bite into the crispy chicken burrito, it all made sense. The chicken wasn't the usual fried chicken strips, but actual chicken. They must have done something to the skin because it was basically crackling. The textures were amazing and flavors were a close second. Also, every single bite was perfect. I always find my last bite of burrito to be all dry wrap or soggy with all the sauces. Not this one. Perfect To The Last Bite. The fish tacos were so good also. The breading was the right texture against the fish which was cooked perfectly. Great bright flavors that stood on it's own merit. Loved that it wasn't doused in a puddle of sauces. This place is great! I ended up eating here twice during our three-night stay in Victoria. I got two tacos, fish and shrimp. Both were flavorful and fresh with generous fillings. I liked the pickled ginger on the shrimp taco. Both times, I ordered my food to go. Staff was very friendly and my order was ready quickly. It was a surprise that many restaurants were closed on Monday. After a long research, we finally had lunch at Tacofino. We ordered two burritos, one with fish for me and one with crispy chicken for my husband. Once you order and pay at the desk, they serve you at the table. The service is pretty fast, we waited 15 minutes after we ordered. The thing that I loved is that the tortilla is fresh and hand made. The burrito is very big and the flavor was good even though everything overcame a little bit the taste of the fish (maybe it wasn't enough the quantity of the fish because I found it at the end of burrito). Ok Maybe I got a bad batch.... Bean taco was hella bland. Tried the gringa bean. Even worse so bland never going to try a gringa again. Made me understand why they called it the gringa. Only good one GREAT ONE was the yam taco. I couldn't finish the bean taco or gringa they were so boring and lack lustre. Could have just been canned refried beans. Went to counter and ordered another YAM TACO. I was kind of surprised the staff didn't ask why we didn't finish the others. Maybe too busy. I would go back and only order two or three Yam Tacos. My partner said the fish taco was also good. But agreed the bean ones weren't worth finishing. Better calories can come from something that tastes good. I wish this place was closer to home, but on a recent stop in Victoria we came upon this place for a quick lunch. Ordering at the counter was pretty quick and easy and we got our food pretty fast. I shared the chicken nachos and the portion size was massive. It was able to feed four of us with leftovers. The chicken was seasoned and cooked well and added a great touch to the nachos. Our FAVORITE place to get tacos in Victoria. My go-to is the fish taco, but my wife put me on to the yam taco and it's my new favorite for sure. Plus they have corn tortillas which I prefer. My husband had the steak tacos, he really liked them, said they were really good, must of been, he didn't even offer me a bite! I had two crispy chicken tacos, they were huge! Really crispy but tender on inside. I thought they were burned at first but it was like a black bean sauce I'm glad to say. A sprinkling of cilantro and pickled veggies made for some good tacos. We tried the three salsas; the vinegar one wasn't my favorite, the chipotle good and the habanero was hot but addicting. Only seating for maybe 15 people. I recommend getting it to go and picnicking somewhere, if it's nice. The food was good, don't get me wrong. But it wasn't AS good as in Tofino.
