I have to Warren you that the novel Warren Peace was actually NOT written here. However Warren…read moreBuffett does live here so that's good. And Warren Beatty too. But not Warren Cuccorullo. Which is a shame because I miss that dude. The review of Mr Objective sort of personifies what I feel like some of the Detroit suburbs are exactly like in my expensive experiences. On the other hand there are some really great people here as well and I highly recommend you come and give Warren a try. It's a distant suburb quite far from the downtown but it has some good pizza and good custard and some good ethnic stuff as well so it's a little bit of everything. It's a little bit Caucasian (not diverse enough), and has some racist attitudes I heard a few times, but I hear those in my own town of Clarence all too often too... Warren still has some different cultural flavor is going on here as well. Lots of great suburbs around Detroit with lots of different stuff with an old-time feel but also some lively modern stuff too. Generally nothing like Detroit itself, but it's all part of Detroit really if we're being honest rather than technically precise. Lacks a lot of the soul and character of Detroit but you're probably be a little bit safer walking around here at night. Unless the cops shoot you.

Montgomery Denny pulled----you guys pray you get this Trooper-a real Michigan Statey Pro! Was amenable, affable, and not aggressive! You would have thought that officer Montgomery and I were on a Reality Show-the dialogue was rational. Ended up doing an informal hearing, got the speed reduce to 1-5 over with no points, cheaper than I thought by almost 50buckeroos. The courthouse is extremely busy, and the staff do a good job at keeping up and keeping business running smoothly. Don't break the law and you won't have to come here. Come as a plaintiff, and usually the job gets done. Just stay on top of things and double check so there's no errors because they definitely happen in a courthouse this busy. The judges have always been fair (the ones I've encountered), and the police as well. There's bad apples in every profession so I won't let one or two spoil my rating of them. They get the job done. Of you feel they're not, then speak up and say something!

Let's be honest: nobody likes going to the Secretary of State. (If you're a follower in a part of…read morethe country where there's no SoS it's the equivalent of the DMV.) On a good day it still probably only racks up 2 stars from me. That's apart from the late, great SoS at Washington and Congress that somehow no-one knew about and I could always get in and out of. That place was a 4 star review at least, but I never would have reviewed it cause I didn't want the secret to get out. As it was it probably closed up to lack of business. I only went in to renew my tabs yesterday, and was going to give one of those computerized kiosks where you can just do it yourself a whirl for the first time, but when I walked in I found a large cardboard stand up cruelly bearing the image of one of the kiosks, saying it had been relocated to a nearby Kroger. Well, I was already there, and the weather was lousy, the roads weren't great and it was only 9:15, a mere 15 minutes after opening. How bad could it be? I walked up to a touchscreen, put in my phone number and got a text saying there was 48 people in front of me. I inwardly groaned, but I've waited in queues longer than that at these places; at least I could sit down and mess around on my phone. I figured it might be an hour. It ended up being two hours before they got to me. You can now make appointments and for awhile it seemed like only appointments were being called up while us walk-ins languished. At one point a guy in the row ahead of me started loudly protesting this. At another I got a text saying there were 10 people ahead of me. This would have been good news had I not received an identical text 15 minutes prior with the exact same message! A quarter hour later and I get that non-update. No progress whatsoever. That appointment stuff was really a drag. It's like if you went to Cedar Point and the ratio of Fast Lane people to regular ol peasants was way skewed and only Fast Lane people seemed to be getting on the roller coasters. A couple times the lady next to me said she should gave gone to "that other Secretary of State". I didn't bother asking which one, but maybe I should have. I feel like the one by my parents condo at Metro Parkway and Gratiot gets comparable crowds and eats through them a lot quicker. When I finally got up to the counter I do have to say service was fast and friendly. So don't think this one star stink bomb is aimed at the long suffering clerks who have to deal with an endless succession of cranky people. It's this understaffed, annoying bureaucratic government institution I resent. I guess next time I know to make an appointment or go to Kroger.
