I went into the store a bit baffled...I needed a bolt, not a screw. I was amazed at what a mess I must have looked like, with question in my eyes. I was settled down by the great guy that helped me. A small screw fell out of a kitchen cabinet hinge. Of course it disappeared. I removed the screw from another hinge so I could match it. Rather than go to a big box store and try to match it thru a plastic bag I went to Tacoma Screw. The counter person determined the screw size, went to the back and returned with a couple of the correct size screw. NO CHARGE. Didnt buy anything, but I would if I needed anything. Went in there because my four year old had to pee suddenly, and I was waiting for my mom to get out of her doctors appointment and couldn't go too far from her doctors office. Tacoma Screw was right there, and they didn't have to let my kid use the bathroom considering their restroom was behind counter and clearly for employees only but they did anyways. Extremely nice guys in there and very considerate to let a random mom with her four year old daughter use the bathroom when they could've just turned me away like many places I've had do. Ten out of ten recommend, especially if you need parts and not the toilet every-time. read more

Tacoma Screw Products is an awesome store. Great place for the pros or Joe's like me. I figured when I walked in there would be walls and walls of screws, bolts, nuts, washers and such. Nope. I was greeted by a super friendly man running one of the registers. I showed him the bolt for which I needed a nut. He took it in the back to start the search. All of the nuts and bolts are kept behind the scenes. So I looked around to see exactly what they had out on the sales floor. There were hand tools, tarps, giant rolls of duct tape, angle iron, splitting mauls, rain gear, paint, clamps, zip ties, 5 gallon cans of WD-40. Lots and lots of cool items organized in about 5 isles. This is NOT low quality "harbor freight" type of merchandise. In less than 5 minutes the dude came back with my bolt and a shiny nut spun on the end of it. He just gave it to me no charge. He said it was only a few cents. Hey, I'll take the kind gesture. And in return I will be back to spend some money the next time I need something for a project or hunting camp. Give this business a try. Very impressed with the service I received here. Bryce was exceptional! I needed different screws for my new license plate holder because the ones that came with it didn't fit my car. He not only quickly found the correct ones, but took my plates off and replaced them with the new ones. I was soooo happy because I didn't have the proper tools to do it myself. Thurston County, WA, where this Tacoma Screw Products store is located, proclaimed that it (Thurston County WA) suffers from the public health crisis of racism affecting its residents. In my opinion, this store epitomizes the definition of racism. If you are African-American, be prepared to be watched like you are expected to steal something. I have shopped in Thurston County for years. I remember when this Tacoma Screw Products store opened. Its issue with African-American people has existed since. As a result, I exhaust every last avenue before I shop at this store. In fact, I only shop at this store on an emergency and strictly small ticket-item basis. I won't buy anything other than nuts, bolts, and screws if and when I have to shop in this store. In conjunction with being watched constantly, be prepared to be treated in the same manner that you feel as you are being watched. You'll be treated as if they are doing business with you only because the law requires it. Expect to have any money you give them to pay for your purchase scrutinized as if it is counterfeit. Lastly, expect to be watched from the moment you enter the store until the moment you leave. And I do mean until the moment you physically leave the store! read more

The other stores were out of stock and only supplied the specific wedge screw through online purchase (Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.), but Tacoma Screw maintained a great inventory. These guys are the best. Numerous times I've needed just one or two screws/bolts/tools, but not 20 or a full set of tools. Here you can get just what you need. I lost two bolts for my overhead microwave, and with shipping would have cost more than $12 (Not to mention a few days time). The first bolts did not fit, when I returned I actually brought my microwave to make sure the bolts fit. They gave me a couple to try in the parking lot, so I got the correct bolts. They are also 2nd Amendment friendly. :) I'm about to move to OK, I just hope that there is a similar store there. read more

I usually come here if I don't find the hardware pieces I need at the local hardware store. Typically, I've been served just passing customer service in terms of niceness/friendliness but have been given either what I need or, more progressively, alternative recommendations that have managed to work. My last time there I was given surprisingly nice service. However, the guys I chatted with didn't seem to know what I was talking about, though a simple Google search would have presented it. However, one of the two guys seemed to know a bit more, but recommended something else (due to not having the size I needed, I guess), which they had in stock. Thinking what he gave me was too big, I nonetheless followed his advice. It was bad advice. I now have one of the items stuck deep in my wall due to part of it breaking off and the other put a gaping hole in my wall before it fell out. Neither are serving their intended function and created more issues for me. Not shopping here again. The one in Tacoma seems to know more what they're doing, but they're too much of a drive and I haven't been there in a while (so perhaps things have changed with them, too?). They're also most consistently friendly toward me in Tacoma. It looks like it'll just be Amazon from here on out. I'm sure if you're in a construction business or doing a huge project, this place'll work out, but as an individual just looking for spare parts, it is no longer serving its purpose for me, as far as hardware bits go--which has been the draw for me. read more

We were in search of a particularly long metric kind of screw for our drawer pulls. The other big box stores (the ones with the blue and orange logos) didn't have it. One day, on our way to Olympia we drove past Tacoma Screws. My husband went back just to press our luck and lucky us indeed, they have it! It is also waaay cheaper than what they sell in the big-box stores. We were amazed at the amount of stuff they have in here. The salesperson is also super helpful and knowledgeable. They also offer other hardware supplies at competitive prices. This will be our go-to place for these kinds of things. Glad we stopped here! read more

I went to the Lacey store yesterday because the hex bolt was stripped on the channels of my Leer truck canopy and I wanted to put on a Yakima roof rack on but couldn't get the channel end caps off. The employee, Bryce, at first let me borrow the tools to try to get the things off but they just spun and wouldn't unscrew. He told me they would probably have to be drilled to get them out. I think he felt sorry for me because I must have looked like a deer in the headlights, so he and another employee came out and spent about 20+ minutes getting the darn bolts out for me. I bought a "Made in America" Triumph 7/8" drill bit here for $60, guaranteed quality, etc. The bit broke on its very first hole! Knowing the customer service and abrasive attitudes of employees at this Tacoma Screw location, I was hesitant about bringing the bit back to the store. I eventually did, and was met with "It's your fault, you're out of luck," within the first minute I was at the counter. I was then lectured on how to drill holes and all the things I was doing wrong using the tools I've used for over 20yrs. The only drill bits I've ever broken were completely my fault and I've taken ownership of those two or three in the past 20yrs. I ended up getting a "Made in China" bit to finish the job, without any issues. Tacoma Screw is overpriced and doesn't stand behind the product they sell. If you have an issue, they turn the tables on the customer in an attempt to justify their return denial. Won't EVER spend another dime at Tacoma Screw. read more
