Turned away at the emergency Vet! Called to say my cat was not feeling well hiding ,not eating and breathing a little funny. I was told that they had 3 ER's that were all busy and would have a 2 hr wait. Also that they close at 7 ( it was 515 when I called). So my daughter rushed home from work to bring the cat . She got there at 620. She was told by the woman that answered the phone that I was told to be there at no later than six. I was never told that. She said go to a 24 hr vet! I don't know what her qualifications are but she refused. The cat was never even triaged . Just turned away. What emergency vet turns away a sick animal in there waiting room? I know one with a desk person more concerned about leaving by 7 pm! Do not waste your time going here for an emergency! You will get turned away if it's anywhere near closing time! read more

This place was truly a god sent ! My 23 plus year old cat had to be put to sleep. The staff from secretary to tech to vet were all sooo amazing! The room in which they euthanize the animals is filled with comfy chairs so you can hold your pet while they go off to sleep like I did if you choose. They explained everything before hand and again during. The room had beautiful sayings on the walls. You can spend as much time before and after to grieve and they give you what looks like a doorbell when you are ready to say goodbye . They gave me a keepsake with my boys print on it . This is an awful vet practice. The only reason we stayed with them is because the now retired director, Dr. Berk, was a good vet and we trusted him with our dog who had congestive heart failure. Most of the time we saw other vets here and were not impressed. The current front desk staff are also very rude and unprofessional. Our dog was misdiagnosed multiple times at this practice. On one occasion, he had a serious eye issue and his eye was on the verge of rupturing when they finally admitted they didn't know what was wrong and referred us to a specialist. The eye specialist had to perform immediate eye surgery. Due to their incompetence our dog almost lost his eye. Our dog was also on daily meds to manage his heart issue. When we called for a refill it took days and multiple calls from us to finally receive a call back from someone who can authorize the refill. This is unacceptable, especially considering the unusually large amount of staff at this practice. The final straw was when I went to pick up meds for my dog after they had called me and said they were ready for pickup. This was by far the most awful interaction I've ever had with a receptionist anywhere. I was left waiting 30 minutes in the parking lot and finally called to check if they would be out soon as I needed to leave. The woman who answered the phone was exceptionally rude right away and was clearly bothered that I called to ask for an update. She was actually huffing on the phone whenever I spoke, so I finally questioned why I received a call hours earlier telling me the meds were ready and instead of simply saying, "I'm sorry about that it was a mistake" she literally yelled at me, "Look there was a hiccup and it looked like they were ready, but they weren't. What do you want from me?!" She actually yelled, "What do you want from me?!" multiple times before I finally said, "OK, bye" and hung up. I've never been spoken to like this by someone in reception/customer service and it's completely unacceptable. Safe to say we will no longer be taking our pets to this practice. Let me start with my first visit on Friday 1/18/19 it was a really easy experience getting treatment for my cat the Vet Dr. Victoria Wellington was wonderful and was very forthcoming with me about x-ray results and did not pressure me into any procedures that she did not seem necessary. I returned on Sunday 1/20/19 due to my cat not improving. The Vet that night was Dr. Christina Mendelsohn convinced me to do a second set of x-rays. When she returned with the radiologists report she told me that my cat needed "to be cut tonight" meaning she needed surgery for an obstruction in her GI tract. I was then given an estimate for $7000 which a vet tech told me would have to be paid in full that night because if I didn't get the surgery "your cat is going to die" After getting a second opinion from another vet and was told that what Dr. Mendelsohn had told me was untrue. In fact, the radiologist report recommended an ultra sound as no obstruction was visible. My cat was not obstructed and had I broke under the pressure that was placed on me by Dr. Mendelsohn and the tech My cat would have undergone unnecessary invasive surgery that she did not need and I would have been stuck with the bill to the tune of $7000 read more

I want to strongly urge pet owners to avoid this place. My 14 year old dog was diagnosed with cancer a few months back and I elected to provide him with supportive care and give him the best quality of life for his remaining days. When he began to decline, I brought him in to 202 vet to be evaluated to see if there was anything left I could do, or if this was the end. Dr Mendelsohn called me after her "exam", to state the OBVIOUS. She was incredibly rude, condescending and had 0 bedside manner. The way she treated me as a client turned me off SO much that although I decided euthanasia was the right thing for him, I was NOT going to allow that witch to do it. She also would only allow 2 people inside for the euthanasia, although I was there with my family, (a total of 4 people. ) I left 202 with my sweet boy and drove down to White Plains VEG center. The compassion and treatment there was like night and day. Not to mention they allowed my entire family in even though their "hospital policy" was also 2 people. Lastly, I am a licensed veterinary technician and I know many people in the vet field. You can bet I will warn MANY people to stay away from 202 Vet and that awful woman Dr. Mendelsohn. read more

First time here with my cat, who just a few hours later, after being admitted, had to be put down. Because of Covid, I couldn't be with him during his acute illness. Not the vet's fault but just sharing this information. I went home and in the middle of the night was told the best option is putting him down. The offer was made to come back and be with him in that moment. Also, because of staff shortages, they are no longer 24/7. The night we came in, Monday 12.21, thank god was a 24 night or my cat would have died a painful death in the parking lot. I think only 2 or 3 nights a week now are 24 hour care, so call before going and wasting precious time. Added wait time to pick up his ashes because of staff shortages. His body was picked up yesterday but I am told I might not be able to get his ashes back for a week. It is a private cremation however. The vet was lovely, patient and informative. Through my panic and tears she explained everything and was compassionate. My issue is with the staff. The next day I called to arrange the time to come in and pick up my cat's carrier. First, had no idea who I was and thought my cat was still alive. WTF? Had to explain he was put down in the middle of the night, got her empty condolences, then was coldly told I owed a balance on my account. Get trained in compassionate speaking no matter how tired and burnt out you might be please. Arrived a few hours later, met with a staff member outside, not sure if it was the same gal. Had no idea who I or my cat was. Again, had to tell her you guys put my cat down in the middle of the night. It was absolutely freezing and I had to wait outside for her to come back with the carrier and to settle the bill. Not even allowed to wait in the warm vestibule, which is additionally sealed off by a main door to the clinic. That bothered me profoundly. No empathy. Again, paid the bill, offered an empty condolence and sent me on my way. read more

Staff is very knowledgeable but never pushy when it comes to making decisions. From a new puppy to delicate growth removal near our senior dogs eye, to cyst removal on our massive cat, or just assuring us on the phone that we aren't crazy, they do it all. This place reminds me of an Applebee's Restaurant, the food is never that great, the service is never that good, but when they come with the bill you'd think you had gone to a fine dining restaurant. I've been taking my dogs to this place for a few years now and having three of them exams + tick prevention and heart guard medication add up quickly, but 2K just seems too much. It wasn't until I shared this with a friend who takes hers to a different vet and seemed horrified at the amount that I realized that it doesn't seem right. One of the things that bothers me also is the fear mongering by trying to up sell. Like the servers at Applebee's trying to push those potato skins at the beginning of a meal, they often suggest procedures that seem to come out of nowhere: a teeth cleaning for my dog who has no issues with his mouth for 2K. In another instance they offered to check a small bump that one of my dogs had had his entire life by doing a biopsy at the cost of 1200; my dogs are completely healthy. As a person who loves dogs, I think pervasive for-profit business models like this may discourage people from adopting needy pups because they just wouldn't be able to afford them. read more

What I thought was going to be the answers to my very sick cat's issues tuned out to be nothing but sucking my bank account dry and playing off my emotions as I made it perfectly clear my Lewis meant the world to me. We had multiple test, scans and lots of blood work, we were starting weekly b12 shots as i was told this would help my boy, i was told by Dr. Berks that "Lewis was his new favorite cat"... this made me very happy and i even ignored Dr. Berks political views as i felt he was entitled to his opinion even though it was inappropriate to discuss it I just cared about the well being of my cat. Lewis had diarrhea for over a month and was rapidly losing weight, all scary things.. I was waiting for Lewis to come back while he was inside having his treatment and i saw Dr. Berk talking to another patients parent, when he finished i waved and rolled down my window and started talking about Lewis.... please keep in mind at this point i spent over $3400.00 in two months and was near this man EVERY week talking about my cat and he actually rolled his eyes and made it very clear he could not be bothered and some said something to the the effect of did I know how many cats he saw a week... so i said my mistake, i assumed you would know who Lewis was as you repeatedly tell me he is your favorite? I guess everyone is his favorite while the cash is flowing in? I made a decision to just close the door and not spazz out as my cat was still inside... I found a visiting vet and after $384... Lewis is 100% better, i do not believe Lewis was actually getting the weekly injections i was bringing him for that cost $125.00 per visit because after 1 dose injected in my house after 4 days there was a drastic improvement AND i was given 5 doses to administer myself for $35.00! Our cat jumped out of its carrier right outside and ran into the parking lot next door. The staff at the clinic helped us look for an hour, no cat. We went away for food and cat toys, came back and looked for another hour with the vet staff still helping, still no dice. Tearful kids. It's a disaster. Then one of the vet techs spots the little bugger hiding under a bush. We entice him out with food and grab him and go get him the vaccine we came for. The vet and the techs were super caring and nice. But the Bottom line... These guys spent a couple of hours including their breaks helping us look for a cat. 5 stars! read more

I was looking for a new vet closer to home after one of my pups was diagnosed with diabetes and I didn't feel comfortable driving far in an emergency. I checked out a few places and wasn't overly impressed with anyone until I came here. My first phone call to make an appointment was a great experience. Sheena put me at ease immediately and I'm sure she had no idea but she lifted the stress that I had been feeling for the past two weeks with her wonderful tone and reassurance! I mentioned the diabetes issue and that I purchased a glucometer and was wanting to learn how to use it and she told me to bring it in and they would show me and that they had a great team that was experienced with diabetes. THAT was exactly what I had been needing to hear! I got in the next week and saw Dr. Saura. She was wonderful, as was the Vet tech and the young man (Steve? -- I'm awful with names) who showed us how to use the glucometer. Everyone was so helpful and so patient. I left there feeling so much better than I had been since the diagnosis. I also felt very confident that I had found the right team for my pups. I've had these two rescues for about 4 and a 1/2 years and they're both 9 years old, so while I realize they can't be around forever, it makes me happy to bring them to a Vet that I can feel confident will take such good care of them and help me give them the best life possible! So, yes, I'm VERY happy to have found them and that they are there 24/7! Definitely puts me at ease! read more

Been taking my dog here for a couple months now, I thought the people there seemed very nice until my friend and I brought her dog in for an emergency. The dog passed away from a freak accident almost right when we got there and the women who were working showed ABSOLUTELY NO compassion. The vet herself used VERY cold language while talking to my hysterical friend, saying things like "the dog is stiff" multiple times and it seemed like they were only concerned with getting the paperwork done and bills paid and to get us out. it was disgusting. read more

Do not bring your pet here. It looks like a serial killers basement inside. The floors are cement and the walls are a somber gray color. They abuse people who care about their pets by guilting them into spending thousands of dollars. It is incredibly understaffed. The vet tech with blue hair has a horrible attitude. The vet wasn't even able to distinctly diagnose my dog. When I arrived to pick up my dog they had tried to feed her McDonald's chicken nuggets!!! McDonald's chicken nuggets...to a diabetic dog....in active diabetic ketoacidosis. The various diagnosis included: a blood clot, pneumonia , pulmonary edema, ARDS...none of which are logical if you actually obtain an adequate history and know medicine. The dog had likely aspirated water which would cause pneumonitis and had a blood sugar of 700, which makes her severely dehydrated. Despite this she was given Lasix for "fluid in the lungs " AND antibiotics for pneumonia. Whereas she was likely breathing fast due to DKA. All in all, she received medical assistance at a high school medical competency level. And she was offered admission for a week at age 14 for a mere sum of $40000 rather than a comfort care discussion. read more

The Vet refuses to see them because they were strays. But yet, when the Vet noticed the Umbilical Cord said, "I can remove it for $160." ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDIN ME? They wouldn't see the kittens because they were strays, but they would see one for $160 to remove an Umbilical Cord? Then, my friend bought Formula to feed them. By the time he got home it was late and he wanted to feed them and get them warm and settled. It wasn't until he today he noticed that the formula they sold him was EXPIRED ALMOST A YEAR NOW!! I am very disappointed today. I have been taking my cats to this practice for at least 10 years. While I understand procedures must be adjusted due to COVID-19, there was zero communication ahead of our appointment to alert us to the procedures even though we had 2 phone calls with them ahead of time. This is very unlike what I have come to expect from them. Sitting in a car with 3 cats when it's 80 out even with AC is not OK. If I had known what we would have had to do, I would have put off the appointment to a later date and let my cats sleep at home. read more

My neighbor's dog bit my puppy and I called at 10:30pm on a Sunday night. Covid procedures meant I had to sit in my car and fill out paperwork brought out by the receptionist. They saw my puppy immediately, did a very nice job cleaning her up and gave me all the precautionary antibiotics, pain killers and NSAIDs. The vet called my cell from the exam room to explain what she did and then A tech (Rochelle) came out with my dog and the meds and once again went over everything. I cannot explain how grateful I am they were there when I needed them and they could not have been nicer. The next morning, they called to follow up and see how my puppy was doing. I wanted to write something about this place but didn't get around to it. I've taken my cat and my bird there and the people have been wonderful. My cat was tested and checked in an emergency and was seen right away. They were great. Offered different courses of treatment and my cat is fine now. Unfortunately I had to take my Macaw Smokey there on a Sunday morning because she was very ill, barely breathing. They took her in right away and gave her oxygen. They were honest and told me they didn't have an Avian vet on staff but they would call Dr Hess. (Don't even get me started on that ) unfortunately my Smokey died right there that morning. They were very compassionate. They didn't charge me a dime for the visit. I chose to have her cremated. I thought it was a bit pricy but they gave me a mold of her foot and the box she came in is lovely with a nameplate on top. Very nice. I also received a card sighted by the staff. So thoughtful. I have been meaning to write this review for sometime. This place is an incredible find. A 24 hour full animal hospital and veterinary service. I rushed my cat here at 2am. Urinary crystals. The level of care was on the very highest level I have ever seen in my 50 years of having pets. From the professional manner to the follow up to every single small detail of my cat's three days here, I was impressed at every step. The owner is an absolutely amazing man giving back to his local community. The vets are world class, especially Dr. Wellington, the front desk was run like a Swiss clock with loving personality. Every person working there is operating on the highest level possible in their profession. Of course, they healed my cat, but they also comforted me and made me feel that they really cared. And they came in so far below the initial budget, I was blown away. I want to write more, but I'll leave it there. I'm extremely grateful I found them. I wish them a lifetime of success. read more

They seem to be a place that has all the bells and whistle's don't be fooled. I decided to go there because of recommendations I went there for a simple problem that my dog had it's three weeks and over $1000 later the problem was still there, they kept selling me all these different eye medication bringing me back every week for a follow up so I had to pay for every visit and different meds they drew blood without even asking me first, and Never even called to follow up. I guess they were upset because I had confronted them , I think I should know what services you're going to be doing and what I am going to be charged for . you're doing things to my dog without my knowledge take the dog out of the room. I'm gonna give this place a 3 because I had some nice experiences there. But most recently my problem is that I brought my dog there for a situation that she had and it took the doctor's 3 days to call me back because they said they were too busy. Then I explain to them that I was worried about the medication shall they told me to bring her back in and I was asking if there's going to be another charge because this is the same situation and the set of course there's going to be another charge. So after taken hundreds of dollars from me they still wanted that extra $80 just to bring my dog back in to make sure the medication was fine which I have to say that I declined to do. I found a few lumps on my dogs chest ..brought her here for an emergency..they did x rays and a biopsy ..turned out to be mammary cancer ..I was beside myself ..Dr.whitehead explained treatment options ..gave me an estimate of surgery cost..they performed the surgery and my foxy recovered great ..at first I was in shock over the cost, because it Was really expensive...but my dog came out great and they did an excellent job..so that's all that really matters to me. read more

I recently took my old chihuahua here on emergency when he got injured playing with my other dog. He is a rescue with a lot of medical baggage but the tech Heather and Dr. Whitehead were amazing. When I arrived Heather came out to find out all the details and was calm and caring with not only Archie but me as well! Heather assured me she would be with Archie and Dr Whitehead talked me through what needed to be done. Archie needed his teeth checked as well recently but wasn't agreeable at my vet, but Dr Whitehead did a full exam while treating his injury. They even kept him wrapped in his blanket. The front desk was also very sweet and understanding and called first thing the next day to check in. Thank you to everyone!! We brought our dog in, we thought it was heat exhaustion, turns out it was large cell lymphoma. The care and treatment at this facility was great, and they called and followed up. We went here because our regular vet was not available. They sent all of the information and records to our regular vet. We brought him in twice, the second day he was not eating, so they suggested to bring him in and get fluids and steroid injections - that day we did wait about 25 minutes, it did not bother me, but thought it would be fair to mention it. The first time we went on an emergency we did not wait at all. This being primarily an emergency facility, the wait on the second visit not bother me. We put the wheels in motion with a facility that specializes in oncology, but I am glad we came here for the initial care. read more

First The quote estimate that was given to just keep our dog stabilized for four days until we got to our vet was one price - she was not there more than 22 hours and the bill was an extra $685 on top of the 1500... Second when you are in a room alone you are being recorded and videotaped which we were unaware of because we were never told -- until we saw a flashing light and went and read what the light switch said and it said in small print we were being taped and recorded when light was flashing-- how dare they- It was like you were in a jail being spied on they play upon peoples emotions terrible terrible... they wouldn't even work with us to lower the bill even though the dog did not stay the full time the estimate was for.Shame on them. read more

YOU NEED TO READ THIS BEFORE TAKING YOUR PET HERE!!! If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is unbelievable...they don't care about your pet. They care about getting the most money they possibly can out of you. My 2 yr old Boxer/English Bully mix stopped eating and started vomiting a week ago. She obviously became progressively sick. Brought her here and I THOUGHT she may have ingested mop water with Lysol cleaner, but wasn't sure. Fast forward...Dr. Saura was VERY good to us. Very thorough and explained everything perfect. From a medical standpoint, she was top notch. Blood work came back not too bad. Totally dehydrated, but ok. X-rays showed a foreign obstruction...possibly a corn cob. Dr. Saura got that right on. Diagnosis was: "Foreign body (corn cob) in her small intestines, with mechanical ileus, requiring abdominal exploratory to remove it." So Doc went over a treatment plan, which included getting my dog stabilized enough to undergo surgery. This meant hospitalization overnight, getting her hydrated and taking care of her pain. $1462.69 for that. Surgery was quoted to be SIX TO EIGHT THOUSAND more, PLUS any other treatment given to her at an additional price! We paid $1000 up front, with a balance of $432.69, to be paid the next day, with a plan that I would pick her up in the morning when she's stabilized to take her elsewhere for surgery. In the meantime, I got on the phone and tried to find a vet who could do this surgery for any less than $6000-8000. Which was easy. I found about 5 places who would do the surgery for approx. $2500... TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED!!!! WTF??? So at 7am, a tech called my wife's phone, and then my phone, saying "We thought you were coming to pick her up at 6am? She's not doing well at all and needs to get the help she needs." Really? REALLY??? Didn't I just pay $1000 for her to be in your care overnight and to get her stabilized??? It gets better... I call back and tell them my plan...I'll be there in a little while to take her to another doctor. I get there, and they give me the papers showing her care overnight. Get this...they checked her TWICE overnight...at midnight and at 4am. Both times, they write that she is either "sleeping, or alert, handling fluids well and resting comfortably." So why did they call and say she urgently needs to leave because she's doing worse??? This place is all about money. The receptionist, or whatever she is, just kept trying to get me to apply for the Care Credit, which I knew I would not be approved for, or to ask family or friends for money. I kept asking...what do you do for people who cannot afford $6-8k for a surgery that will save her life? She never answered that question. She just kept suggesting different ways I could try to get the money. And when asked why their price was $5-6k more than every other vet? She says, "Because we have board certified surgeons and we have 24hr care here." If I'm not mistaken, any doctor that performs surgeries needs to be certified. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that. If I could give 0 stars I would. To few decent staff members there this isn't for you. But as for who I directly dealt with what a shame, me and a couple friends were faced with the tough decision of putting our cat through a tough surgery to potentially save him costing us nearly 8-12k. (Tough decision in itself). Or putting him down. The whole experience was terrible, all we felt like was that they were after our money. When you're faced with a decision like this you really rely on a professional opinion, being that none of us are vets. Which was the farthest thing from what we received. We weren't comfortable with the pressure they were putting on us to spring our cat dusty into surgery. That the doctor/surgeon was so conveniently "passing them on the way home" because it was such a time sensitive surgery. Dusty was a "blocked cat" , couldn't urinate from the block. We wanted to take him to get a second opinion and we got mocked about "took an hour and a half to decide about the surgery, what's another 15 minutes"(Bc I wasn't able to arrive for over 15 minutes). Mind you this was a 12k dollar decision. (Especially when money is tight). We wanted them to release our cat to a friend (another owner of dusty) who was going to rush him over to katonah bedford vet center for a second opinion. To no surprise that was a battle too to keep it short. Im so thankful that we brought dusty to Katonah bedford vet, where we received a true professional opinion about Dustys condition. Where we were able to make a conscious decision to put him to sleep.(AKA we weren't being pressured into spending 12k and had someone give us a valuable professional opinion). Which we would have expected from taconic vet, but instead we received anything short of professional. After going through this I would never EVER recommend anyone to have their beloved pets/family members scene at their facility. We are also considering legal allegation against them for un ethical practice. I truly hope we will save others from going through what we had to deal with.
