Dr. Allen has left me traumatized after my experience with her euthanizing my dog who was sick with cancer. When she pulled into my driveway, she started calling out. When I stepped up, I noticed her car was filled to the brim all the way to the passenger seat with boxes and paper. It smelled horrendous, like there was a dead animal in there. When she came out of the car, she had animal hair all over her and also smelled horrendous, like cat urine. In that moment I knew I had chosen the wrong person. But we had no other option for in-home in our area. She literally stunk up my home and I had to turn on a candle while she was there. I put Vicks in my nose to tolerate the smell. I even laid out a blanket when she sat on the couch to euthanize my dog. She was clearly unkept. We IMMEDIATELY knew that we would not want her to take our dog with her because where was she going to put him! We confirmed with eye looks and texts that we would keep him and bury him on our property. When she was going to euthanize my dog, she couldn't find his vein and repeatedly stuck the needle in. Then she had to find another vein in another leg and did the same thing repeatedly. She never really got the vein and just stuck the needle in his skin hoping the medication worked. I had asked her if she made paw prints the night before and she said yes. So I asked if we could make four and I would pay for them. She got upset and slapped her leg saying "That's gonna take me an hour!" So I told her to just make one. She didn't come prepared. She asked me for nail clippers and aluminum foil which I obviously had. But one would think that is something you have prepared to avoid asking the owner to do anything besides hold their dog. We had to help her soften the clay because her hands were arthritic, which obviously didn't help with her trying to find his vein. When she was leaving, she was nice but her overall bedside manner was so disappointing. She complained about not having enough business and not being able to afford google ads, etc. I would never ever use her again. P.S. You are a liar. I sent you one late night text at 10:06pm the night before the euthanasia to confirm we would be doing the cremation and ask if you did paw prints. All of my other texts were morning, afternoon or evening. And you were at late. read more

We were desperate to find someone to euthanize our cat. We spoke on the phone with this woman, and there were certainly some red flags. She came across as insensitive and made the comment to us. "Are you really going to make me come out in this weather?"- and said oh, " it was just a joke" I figured I should maybe check the reviews; and boy am I glad I did. I feel so terrible for those who had that experience. I can assure you they his is not libel/slander-or displaced grief. Other at-home euthanasia vets have wonderful reviews. She is telling people they are fake reviews. They are clearly not fake reviews. I'm just grateful I did my due diligence; prior to her arrival. My heart goes out to those who endured their experiences. I am so so sorry. Dr Walling is an amazing visiting vet who I would highly recommend. She was exceptional in every way; and also affordable.o UPDATE: in regard to Nancy's response; she did not agree to cut price in half! 25% off an exorbitant fee. Nothing, nothing would ever be low enough to subject my beloved cat to such an incompetent, and unprofessional person. I'm sorry Nancy; but maybe it's time to stop doing this. Do NOT use this person for pet euthanization. For so many reasons. Please read. She did answer the phone quickly when my dog was dying, and we couldn't get an emergency euthanasia for our vet quick enough, also my dog hated the vet and we wanted her to pass at home, so we called this woman. She said she would "be there for us" same day and that it would cost $450 cash. She said it would be painless and just 2 pokes. One to make our pup unconscious and one to stop her heart, peacefully. We were of course emotionally devastated and crying our eyes out, and already traumatized by having to let our beloved animal go. I trusted the few decent reviews here on yelp. She showed up looking and smelling like a homeless woman. It was BAD. She brought her "medical equipment" in a plastic bag and we were already freaking out because it just felt like he wrong fit but at the same time, our pup couldn't suffer another day and it would have been more traumatizing to keep our pup going another day. We were upset and scared about her having pain, and we asked a few questions and got snapped at for even asking with zero empathy. At this point she had already jabbed our baby with the sedative. Without reliving this hell all over again to type this, I will say that it did take about 30 mins longer than it should have to end my dogs life, due to "medications" simply not being strong enough for my 15 lb angel. She did not seem to be in any distress or pain thank god, and seemed to pass peacefully, HOWEVER, the demeanor and professionalism of this woman was NON existent. She was crass, not very sensitive to our situation, short tempered, unprofessional, unkempt, and unhygienic. There is something off or even bizarre about this woman and her whole "veterinary" practice. My pup is now in a peaceful place and thank god my pup had over 18 years of a painless and beautiful life. Though she did seemed to pass peacefully (albeit slowly) the last memory of sharing this moment with this crazy woman will always haunt me. Please, call lap of love or literally ANY other vet. I sincerely hope no family chooses Nancy and has to endure the trauma of dealing with her. If I could give her 0 stars, I would. Nancy made what is already a terrible process, horrendous and traumatic for my family. Our Taxi, an 85 pound pitbull, was in horrible pain from osteosarcoma, so our family knew it was time to say goodbye. Due to his size, we knew we'd prefer to do it at home so as to avoid any unnecessary pain and trauma for him. Nancy was uncaring, rude, unhygienic, and unprofessional. I wish I had seen these other reviews talking about how late she was for a euthanasia appointment (she was an hour late for ours) and how repulsive her car is (there was only a tiny squishy space in her trunk for our 85 pound boy). However, these weren't event her worst offenses. After our final moments with him, my mom insisted on knowing what comes next for our boy. She put us off and was vague, but we continued to push. As it turns out, the crematorium was closed that day and she had made zero plans for dropping him off! When asked what her she would do with him until morning, we were HORRIFIED to learn she wanted to keep his body in her trunk overnight. When we said we were not satisfied with that option, instead of helping us come up with a solution she kept insisting she had done this a ton of times and no one has ever been upset by it. She showed a complete lack of empathy. At that point we paid her and kicked her out as we all sobbed. Thank goodness for our incredible regular vet who agreed to come in on a Sunday so Taxi could have a bit of dignity, instead of being stuffed in a trunk. But thanks to Nancy, the last time my Dad and I touched Taxi was having to put him in a body bag ourselves. It was up to my Dad and boyfriend to carry his body to my Dad's car so we could bring him to our vet. If you are reading this, you are likely in a sad situation and I am so sorry for what you are going through. Please save yourself extra heartache and DO NOT CHOOSE NANCY!!!! read more

Having to euthanize your animal is never easy... but my family and I are extremely thankful to have had Dr. Nancy Allen help us with our 10 year old Japanese Chin. Dr. Nancy Allen is very humble, sweet, soft spoken and patient. From the moment she walked into our home - she sat down with us and explained the process of what would occur. She had a gentle touch when handling the injection process and reassured us we were making the right decision. Dr. Nancy Allen helped us prepare him and gave us all the time we needed to say our final goodbyes. She definitely has a love for animals. She traveled out 2 hours away to Staten Island for the home euthanasia and personally drove back 1 week later to return our Oreo to us. What an incredible and passionate veterinarian Dr. Allen is! Needless-to-say, having to euthanize a beloved 15 1/2 year old dog who was my friend and buddy, is a very stressful and sad occasion. And it can't be easy for any vet either. Yet Dr. Allen made this most difficult time much less stressful. My wife, after talking to a veterinarian friend about having our beloved pet euthanized at home on her own bed, was told that doing it at home would be the least stressful way for our dog and us to proceed. My wife called Dr. Allen who came and spent more than two hours with us. We discussed our dog's medical history, the very difficult last month, and why we felt that sadly there was no alternative to euthanizing our dog to spare her from further misery. Dr. Allen slowly and compassionately described the entire procedure, and then as we watched our beloved dog slowly go to sleep and then stopped her heart, I could only think that we were so lucky as to find Dr. Nancy Allen to help us in this difficult time. Afterwards, she took our dogs remains to the crematorium and shortly thereafter returned the ashes in a beautiful wooden box to us. One star is too high I would only give her zero if it was possible . She came to my home to euthanize my beloved Papillon Madison. Instead of it being a moment of respect and quiet it was a sight from a horror film. She showed up in a car that looks like a homeless person was living in. Complaining about walking up steps into my home. I should've turned her away in hindsight but due to the fact That I was emotionally distraught in the thought of putting my dear Madison to sleep I allowed her to into my home to euthanize my beloved Madison. She took drugs out of the dirty shopping bags that appeared to be old half filled bottles. The first shot did not go well it instead of sedating her it agitated her to the point where she couldn't be held down mind you she was only 12 pounds So she proceeded to go back in her garbage bag to get another drug to inject for a second time . All the time Madison was in distress . The second shot was a long vile of orange medicine that anesthetized Madison. Finally Nancy Allen decided it was time for the euthanasia, Here is where the horror began after several Attempts of not finding in her veins in her legs she decided to try to inject her in her heart. Only after nine attempts did she finally find her heart After all that trauma for Madison ,my husband and I , Madison finally passed away. My husband and I are TRAUMATIZED to say the least. My baby girl had a beautiful carefree loving home for 12 for 12 1/2 years our hearts are broken beyond repair Her last moments on earth with the people who she trusted the most Failed her by choosing NANCY ALLEN. She deserves a negative 100.. I am heartbroken and frankly quite traumatized . My son, daughter and I made an appointment for her To come out and assist in helping our beloved 13 year old Zoe to be euthanized in our home. She doesn't accept credit cards - only checks but prefers cash- she offered to allow me to pay her the $650 fee in post dated checks which was nice but a little disconcerting that a professional veterinarian cannot take credit cards? She was late and rude - I don't care if she was stressed because she got lost. I tried to give her directions over the phone and she was short and rude with me . This is during a very difficult time where we are trying to keep our Zoe as comfortable as possible and prepare to say goodby to her. By the time she arrived , I asked if she will provide an sedative before administering the IV she said no it's all mixed together . I'm sorry but I know compassionate veterinarians give a preliminary injection to help reduce the pets obvious stress. She showed up late and wanted to make sure she was parked in the shade . The reason for this strange request only became apparent to us once we realized that her over packed stuffed car had at least one dead dog with curly tufts of fur sticking through a black garbage bag was visibly smooshed up against the window in the hatchback of her over stuffed filthy car. I imagine it was was he last appointment from upper saddle river- does the family know what became of their beloved pet? I know because I gave her directions to my house from her previous apptmt. There could have feasibly more in the car - When she got out of the car trash fell out onto the driveway and instead of expressing condolences she was agitated about her travels. She was over an hour late which feels like years when you are holding a member of your family who is obviously in distress and pain trying to comfort and ease her suffering while saying goodbye . When I asked her where she expected to put our 45 lb Zoe in her car for the private cremation, she shrugged and rolled her eyes and said I know, I willl have to make room for her. Absolutely not. She had an attitude and was so rude that we requested her to leave . Because of her disgusting behavior and unacceptable-lack of professionalism our beloved Zoe who is suffering from metastatic cancer that has spread to her lungs will continue to be in terrible pain and distress for another day. Unforgivable - She has no business to consider herself a veterinarian that cares for the well-being of animals . My 13-year- old dog, Zoe, had been diagnosed with cancer but her health declined so quickly that we knew she needed to be put to sleep. We found Nancy online after a search and what appeared to be good yelp reviews. She showed up to our house an hour late while the GPS on her phone was not working so we sent her screenshots of the exact directions but that was apparently not enough. She called us and was not very pleasant when she got lost and asked us to stay on the phone and give step by step directions which was extremely aggravating and unprofessional considering this was what we thought would be the last twenty minutes with our dog. She finally shows up in what I can best describe as a hoarder mobile. There was no way we could go through with putting our dog to sleep and further on, letting Nancy pack her up and shove her into her messy car to be cremated, next to a dog from her previous visit which was thrown into a garbage bag. When we expressed our doubts she was not pleasant or kind but rather rude and abrupt and said "fine don't go through with it then," got into her car and sped off. If I could give Nancy zero stars I would. Our family members have already said good bye to her this morning and we are all extremely traumatized at this entire situation and exchange with Nancy. Do not recommend her at all. I'd rather keep my dog drugged up and try to make her as comfortable as possible for another night and wait for my vet to open than to deal with her. I returned home from a vacation to find my cat dying. I started calling for a vet at 5pm on a Friday. By 6:15, Nancy Allen was at my house (all the other places I called wanted to schedule the euthanasia several days away). She came and helped me put my precious cat out of misery and I am very thankful for that. She euthanized him painlessly and in a very humane way. She drove into Manhattan from New Jersey during rush hour and spent a lot of time with us and our beloved boy trying to determine if euthanasia was truly the best course. We all agreed that he had reached the end. She was so precautious with everything and so filled with love, kindness and tenderness. Today was the most traumatic day for my family as this so called " vet" came to help us put down our cat after 11 years. The disgusting car full of trash, the smell on this " vet" was disturbing, the appearance of walking with an umbrella for a cane as she constantly complained about her ailments before enter my house, the old shopping bags full of her " medical supplies" her unsympathetic demeanor was only the beginning to today's nightmare. When having a pet put down....... It should be explained what's about to happen, what to expect and to finish the job leaving the grieving family in comfort knowing the right decision was made. Not in this case at all. NUMEROUS needles, a blown out vein , 4 different shaving spots which the hair was not saved for us to keepsake, over an hour of poking, prying, watching and listening to our cat suffer and not " go unconscious " was bad enough. All with no compassion either! But to then " stab" and manipulate in circles a needle in our cats aorta that this " vet" could not find twice and for 20 minutes as our cat started to come too after these attempts was horrifying while our cat laid in my sons arms! Ended with me having to grab our cat, cry in another room while this witch doctor packed up quickly, hobbled to the door, started to leave without finishing , never asking for payment which proves she knew she had done wrong and wanted to disappear! Never did get the clay paw print done either. Medicine bottles that say " for dogs only " made me question the drugs being used while her hands were full of finger nail dirt and shaking. I questioned that and she got offended that I was so curious. I was left with my cat peeing in my arms while she walked away saying " yeah I told her to do that" after I said " is she even dead yet? Absolutely the worst experience ever and I've had to put down many cats in my lifetime! I only hope and pray my fur baby did not fully feel the distress we were all under. Nancy Allen needs to be help responsible for her poor service, the 80 minute trama my son and I endured and the terrible memory we are now left with during our cats final moments. -0 stars from me. I'm never going to forget this. Oh and I have her " early dismissal " on video! Along with her nasty remarks too! I was traumatized by the job she did on our 11 year old cat. She probably stuck a needle 15 times in my cats legs before giving up and going straight to the heart. (Which also took many tries). Our cat continued to breathe after 2 shots of the poison that was supposed to finish the job. Not to mention that the bottle of medicine she used was labeled "For Dog Use Only". Her hands were shaking the entire time. When we complained she stormed out without even giving us the paw print mold. Her last statement she made to us when our dead cat was in my mothers arms peeing was "I told her to do that". She was very rude the entire time, and was in no way professional. I hope she gets her license stripped. I noticed another customer complaining about a similar incident, and I hope she doesn't continue to make a terrible last memory with other peoples pets. I have a video of her storming out of my house along with her disgusting last words if anyone is interested. Also, it amazes me to see all of these people with reviews similar to mine. Dr. Allen is a good friend, and today she was a best friend. My beloved Nanny, a 14-year-old Border Collie, had an end-stage liver disease. She was so very sick, but it was such a comfort to be able to have this kindest soul Doctor come to Nanny's home so she could just pass away in peace in her little spot that she always loved. Dr. Allen took away her pain, and she spent her last few minutes sleeping comfortably before she was gone at last. This is the only way to say goodbye to your precious companion. Expertise Professionalism Dr. Nancy Allen came to end the suffering of my beloved Cocoa Puff who was dying of end-stage kidney disease. Dr. Allen was gentle, respectful of my feelings and of Cocoa Puff herself. Her method was humane and gradual. She took her time and explained everything she did and everything that Cocoa Puff was experiencing. Afterward, Dr. Allen wrapped Cocoa Puff in one of her little beds and tied her with the ribbons Cocoa had been playing with when she had been healthier. This was the best euthanasia experience I'd ever had with a pet. She also provided her services on a very short notice, despite the fact that it was a very long drive for her, which was a huge deal for us because we had difficulties finding a vet willing to come. Additionally, she went above and beyond, and personally delivered our dog's ashes to us. I'm really confused at the moment about the reviews for Dr. Allen. We contacted her based on what we've researched and she sounded exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to put our Golden Retriever of 15 years down in our home so our dog would not have to go thru the traumatic experience of being brought to the vets office. We made the appointment on a Thursday and we scheduled her visit for the following Monday. This gave us plenty of time to spend with him and also gave us time to except the fact we had to do this and prepare our minds for this very tough episode. My wife and I were shocked when she pulled down my driveway, the car was OVERLOADED with papers, food boxes, and just plain old crap. I'm not bull crapping you when I tell you that you could not see the dashboard, floor, or seats. This was a very small car packed to the fullest and when I asked where she was going to my dog after he's put down she just said "I just need to move a few things around". There was literally no room for a deceased 45-50 pound dog. Here's the statement that put us over the edge, when I asked where are going to keep my dog overnight, because the crematory would be closed by the time she would get there she told us " I'll leave him in the car overnight". This is when we asked her leave. We were expecting somewhat of a professional service, maybe a minivan or SUV but certainly not what we witnessed. I told her it looks like your living in your car. My gut feeling tells me that my deceased dog never would have made it to the crematory. What also should have raised a red flag for me is that she was pretty insistent on being paid in cash. What professional doesn't accept a check or credit cards this day in age? I'm not the kind of person who likes to bash people or their business but I had to speak my mind and hopefully this post will make other people in our situation beware. I will never forgive myself for putting my baby to sleep at the hands of this Frankenstein style doctors. I am haunted by the devastating experience. She injected my baby 6 times before finally jamming a needing into my 16 years olds heart. She asked us constantly to move her lifeless body from one position to the next and then finally carry our car into her hoarder vehicle that was filled no exaggeration to the roof with trash. I cried not even being able to find a spot to put my dogs deceased body at this point. Nancy during the trauma of 6 times thinking we were saying goodbye to finding my dog still breathing had the Gaul to say that my family was "not normal" bc we weren't so comfortable with the tossing and turning and constant injection of poison into my baby. Not to mention she also took our her "drugs" if that's what it even was out of a dozen plastic bags. No bedside manors No vet training evident. For all I know she injected poison into my dog. I'll never forgive myself for hiring her. I even called the crematory myself bc I didn't trust she actually had my dog brought there. I cannot begin to describe how kind and compassionate Dr. Allen was to my mother when she had to make the hardest decision to have her 20-yo-kitty PTS. My mom is in her '80s, and her cats are a huge part her life. She is not physically mobile enough to get a very ill cat into a carrier, hail a taxi or get on the subway, and get herself back home with the carrier after saying goodbye to her boon companion of many years. My mom, herself a nurse for almost 60 years, felt very well taken care of and Dr. Allen was even kind enough to sit with her and her surviving cats to make sure everyone was okay. This has taken a while for me to write and I apologize for that Dr Allen. Our Great Dane Boxer Sadie has fought a hard fight against osteosarcoma. On Sunday May 20th 2018 I called Dr Allen knowing it was time to let our girl go. I was heartbroken having just lost my Mom. Dr Allen spent time with me on the phone explaining the entire process she offered to take our girl to the crematorium but also let us know that burial was allowed where we lived. I asked Dr Allen if our girl would feel anything she said very lovingly that Sadie would meet our friend who had come to visit and then fall asleep. Dr Allen arrived with a medical bag and examined our girl explaining her exam to us. I laid right next to my girl holding her in my arms and looking her in the eyes. She passed as Dr Allen had promised very peacefully and quietly in her surroundings. I am not sure what these other reviewers saw but her car was small but not unkempt and she was very caring and professional. She did not rush us and even made us an imprint of Sadie's paw for a keepsake. In short Dr Allen made a difficult day easier by her calm presence, she instructed us how to wrap our girl for her final resting place. read more
