Given it was the peak of the Cherry Festival and the semiquincentennial, this restaurant did an all-around fantastic job. Top twenty tacos I've ever had, too bad I don't live here or I'd be here every night. This restaurant well maintained, clean, and while the staff was clearly overwhelmed, was apologetic and polite. The food took a long time, but again, TC had three times the amount of people wandering around downtown than usual, so I don't blame them. There was a large party behind us--also tourists, bc they made that loudly known--whose food seemed to also have been taking a long time. After loudly threatening the lives of T&T waitstaff to surrounding tables in an apparent effort to rally support, they went inside to speak to a manager about the wait times. The manager offered a $50 coupon which seemed more than reasonable--I would have had them trespassed. The party denied it, paid, and left. I write this to commend the professionalism and integrity of the manager who worked that night. Despite the frustration, disrespect, and racism these patrons showed you, you remained courteous and a positive representation of your company. My *only* criticism would be in the disability access. - I noticed that (at least in the women's bathrooms) the stalls have a strange locking mechanism where the lock can be easily pulled out. There are only two stalls, one of which had the lock pulled out; the other lock sat disjointed, making it very difficult to lock properly. Although both stalls had grab bars and extra room (), these locks sucked, and the functioning stall swung outward. - Tall sinks, tall mirrors, tall paper towel dispensers, tall diaper changers. - Also, the aisles are very narrow, making it difficult for a wheelchair to navigate/fit inside. read more

We were seated and waited for 15+ minutes for a waitress. We put in a drink order and an order for guacamole, and the drinks arrived one by one, 30-40 minutes later. We had NO silverware until after the guacamole arrived. Dinner arrived shortly after, and was wrong for both parties. Not only was it wrong, but the flour shells were soggy, and the birria had no flavor. This was almost an hour after we arrived, and it wasn't super busy there. We had to ask for the birria sauce as well. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, and we had to ask twice, and it took about 20 minutes for that to happen. We asked for the silverware several times, and did not get any until after food was at the table. We would not return again, just based on the long service, lack of service, food mix up, and house issues with staff. read more

Horrible service! Didn't receive our first round of water u til we were almost done with our food. We also only saw our waitress a couple of times throughout dinner. Bathrooms had an overflowing urinal and smelled like a portajohn. Not a great experience to say the least. We heard others around us complaining about the service and the restaurant was maybe at 50% capacity on a Sunday afternoon. read more

The name sounds limiting -- but don't be fooled. They have a lot more than tequila and tacos. That said, we came for both so that's what we had. The tacos were tasty for sure and the margaritas were BIG. Nice portion sizes for both. Service was fast and friendly and provides were very reasonable. read more

Stopped in during lunch, it was empty so we had our pick of seats. We chose the front area with high tops. Big mistake; those chairs are tiny and slippery so they're hard to sit in. pick a booth next time. I ordered the skinny margarita and turns out it was 20 bucks. I missed that in the small print of the menu. it was mostly orange juice, very weak on tequila, their namesake. Tacos and tequila should use a solid shot of tequila! We shared the nachos, they were missing the cheese. we inquired but didn't get any cheese as a result. I want this place to work, it's got more potential than their chain neighbor down Front St. but the menu is way too big, the food we tried was underwhelming and the very pricey margarita was lacking tequila. read more

Pricey! Pricey! Pricey for the average at best food. First time I have ever been charged for the salsa and chips that were brought to our table prior to ordering. (Four people one 4oz bowl of salsa and a 1/2 filled basket of chips for $3.99.) Frozen margarita was good but they up charged me for adding a small amount of strawberry to the lime margarita. Staff was difficult to understand and it is likely that was the reason for one of our orders being wrong. Bottom line is that it was not horrible food, but very expensive for just average quality food. read more

My boyfriend and I were killing time downtown Traverse City and decided to stop in for some drinks and appetizers. Ordered the chunky guacamole and choriqueso. Both were very delicious!! The chunky gauc almost had a ceviche fresh taste to it and the choriqueso was very flavorful and not greasy at all. Highly recommend! Not vegetarian friendly. Nothing on the vegetarian menu is actually vegetarian. Waitress assured me beans were vegetarian, but after further questioning admitted all the types of beans they serve have pork. Ended up with these weird empty enchiladas and an ocean of rice. We are from Chicago visiting for the weekend. There are some excellent Mexican restaurants in Chicago and I must say .. the food here was great! Service is excellent. Brand new spot here in Traverse.
