Visited with 2 hungry teens. Nice menu choices. Good sized portions. Great burgers, but their fish fry is amazing and salads are fresh.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience. - service was poor - almost felt like we were a nuisance being there by wait staff. Food was ok.

We didn't end up getting an outdoor table, but we were pleasantly surprised when they seated us almost immediately. Our server was fantastic and very attentive throughout the meal. We had read a few reviews mentioning slow service, but that definitely wasn't our experience. We were 100% satisfied with the service we received. The food was delicious, and there were a lot of great options on the menu. Prices were what you'd expect for this type of restaurant, and we thought everything was well worth it. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the whole place had a great vibe. We were really impressed with Oaky's Tavern and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the Interlochen area. Great food, great service, and a really enjoyable place to grab a meal.

While there is charm in old buildings with slightly wavy floors, these needed the update. Very fresh and light now, beautiful place to dine. We went a little early for dinner, so we were seated right away. By the time we left, there was a wait. We started with some bevs, the lavender blackberry lemonade was amazing, which two of us ordered and loved. Our spouses had local beers and were happy too. We also ordered the Oaky Dokie Bites, an app of little round fried bites of cornbread served with hot honey to dip. Fun food, but not sure I'd order them again. Three of us ordered the special, Fried Michigan walleye fish and chips. One subbed onion rings for fries, while I subbed tots, for mine. We were all very happy with our orders. Fish was fresh and sides were yummy. Hubby got a burger and thought it was excellent. The only downside was how long it took to get our dinners. More than half an hour, and we were early for dinner. I don't mind waiting for food when a restaurant is slammed, that is just how it goes. But we waited so long my husband actually went to check on our food, which is really out of character for him. Not sure if our order was misplaced or something else happened, but it did put a damper on the experience, which otherwise, was great. On our way out, we noticed live music going on outside, a plus worth sharing. Service was also great, except for that extra long wait.

My party suggested we stick around for dinner too, which I wasn't going to object to. I wasn't surprised to hear that we'd have a 35-minute wait on a Saturday. The staff was very accommodating and offered an empty room upstairs to wait and pass the time with some games. We asked if we could order some cocktails, and luckily the answer was yes. We placed an order with the hostess, and she brought those upstairs. Later, when there was a Shirley Temple spill, staff was gracious and whipped up another drink right away. Hospitality deserves five stars alone. What else deserves five stars? The cocktails of course. I had two "hotties," which were perfect with the wintry weather...and smart thinking. Who really wants a cold drink in January? The menu is simple, and much of the food is locally-sourced (huzzah). I vegetarian-ized the Christmas Dinner pizza, and it needed the saltiness/fatiness of the sausage. Still, I'll give points for creativity. Four stars. I get destination vibes from this spot, and I know I'll need to return in the summer months for the most optimal experience...but I was overall impressed with my winter trip. Five stars for Iron Fish Distillery!

We were told as we ordered that they only serve breakfast on Sundays. They took our beverage order quickly and brought the coffee and water equally as quickly. We ordered the Hungry Mans Breakfast (3 eggs, bacon sausage, hash browns and toast) and House Made Hash & Eggs (2 eggs, corned beef has and toast) (same as the past 2 years) - you just don't mess with perfection. We ordered eggs overeasy. They brought us a treat of a small cup of homemade strawberry jam for our thick cut fresh sourdough toast - this was a new addition this year (the jam) and we enjoyed it. Nothing is particularly greasy but everything is cooked to perfection. This is one of those places that just makes the quintessential breakfast (or breakfast for lunch). We would come here on a regular basis if we could. There are a lot of locals but they are equally as nice to out of towners. So this year on our drive, we remembered their food and made a point to stop for a late breakfast. In particular, we recalled their delicious corn beef hash and ordered it again!
