I don't ever like to post negative reviews but this morning left me feeling very hungry and upset. We went pretty much right at opening time. We got 1 breakfast burrito with fries and add cilantro and another breakfast burrito with chorizo and bacon. We got home and opened our burritos, cut them in half and they both had bacon and fries in them - already wrong. I don't eat red meat and so I could not eat this at all. They also added sour cream, avocado, and lettuce all of which don't come on the breakfast burritos and we didn't ask for. We went back to get the fry burrito corrected (my husband said he would just eat his) and they were very confused about what was supposed to be on it. He asked if we wanted beans and sour cream??? My husband verbally told the man what the menu said was on the breakfast burrito (eggs, rice, and cheese). And then we got home and cut into the new burrito and it was loaded with peppers and onions (didn't ask for) as well as the same sour cream, lettuce and avocado. Ordered their breakfast burrito last night. It is usually a very good burrito but when I took a bite of it I got the disgusting taste of wet lettuce. I don't know a whole lot, but I do know that a burrito with eggs and bacon in it should not have wet lettuce. No big deal, makes mistakes. I called and they told me they would fix it so I went back and picked up the replacement. It was better, to be sure, but there was something that I don't normal care for in my burritos: grease. I have drove past these food trucks for years. Then they started multiplying! One day my son was in the mood for a burrito and wanted to go to a chain taco spot across the street. We have no had great experiences there so I suggested we could go to the California Taco truck and get a better burrito for less money. Soooo...we gave it a try. We ordered the burrito with carne asada. Which, at the time, there was no up charge on steak. I believe there is one now. Food was ready pretty quickly. The burrito is big...takes two hands! It could use a little more flavor...on the bland side, but still a great value. I wish they wouldn't charge extra for more salsa. Our burrito place closer to home has a complimentary salsa bar complete with jalapeños, radishes, marinated onions and cabbage...so we are kind of spoiled with that. Since our first visit...we have been back at least three times and have turned on our friends and family to the food here. We will keep coming and trying out more items on the menu. One of the best burritos my husband and I have ever had! They were HUGE! I got the veggie, he got the chorizo and the 3 meat, DELICIOUS. Our daughter got the cheese nachos and we kept stealing them, the chips look homemade. We got salsa verde and it was super good. Definitely making this a regular stop on our road trips! As I ordered my food today I was like I've never had an enchilada from here so maybe I have to give it a try then I noticed that the enchiladas the very first selection was Mexican enchiladas then further down was regular enchiladas however the regular enchiladas are actually Americanized enchiladas and I don't believe that you should have to qualify Mexican enchiladas considering enchiladas are in fact Mexican food on the other you should have to qualify Americanized enchiladas so shouldn't it be enchiladas in American enchiladas that would probably be the better way to advertise that that being said California tacos absolutely love it or fix your f****** menu read more

Update; The vendor has responded below to which I must rebut much of what he has stated. No, I never spoke to him, nor did I yell at him or anybody else. (The Mgr of the Venue chewed on them as she felt it was a reflection on them as they had recommended them) I was assured by my contact Savilli, the vendor would arrive and be set up 30 minutes prior to the time to begin serving the food. (Actual arrival was 13 minutes prior to when they were to serve the food) I even met with and spoke to another employee who said they would arrive and be set up early the day of the wedding. My final recommendation is the owner take responsibility for their own missteps and work to resolve them going forward. *Clear voice-mail boxes each evening so they aren't full when people call after hours. *Show up when you say you will *Send legible documents the 1st time *Return calls when you say you will, this was an ongoing issue for months leading up the the wedding. Even our photographer told me AFTER the they had arrived this vendor has a habit of arriving late. Our event was the 3rd time he personally knew of they had been late. The reason (important) I requested the food cards to be resent is they were illegible. I could not and would not give them to our guests to fill out if they couldn't READ them. *sort of important I think. Lastly to try to act as if the workers were treated poorly is ludicrous. We were nothing but nice to them once they arrived as we did not want any further complications or issues. Again, this company has the makings of a great business, but when you blame your customers for your own issues it makes me rethink my prior statement. I have never spoken to you directly, certainly have never yelled you, to say I did is quite unsettling, especially when my review below was actually nowhere near as bad as it "Could have been". ________________________________ I have thought about this review for nearly a week now to make sure I am not overreacting. We hired this company for our daughter's wedding reception. (*they were even recommended by the wedding venue) The food, was amazing. Service during the reception was fantastic and fast. Now for the constructive feedback; Communication was horrific for a business. From start to finish it was a nightmare. I nearly switched catering prior to the event but did choose to stay with them as they had been highly recommended by the venue. Many times when you call the office the voice mailboxes are full and you are unable to leave messages. We were assured on more than one occasion we would get something in the mail or via email however we would need to follow up as these things were not being accomplished. This is an enormous issue and if resolved they would be an unbeatable caterer. This company has so much potential. Lastly, and this is big. They showed up at our event 13 minutes before they were expected to serve our guests food. We expected them to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to serving, needless to say, this caused significant panic in the moment. When I called them, all I got was voice-mail with a full mailbox. Vegetarians beware! Our family has been frequenting various local California Tacos food trucks for years ordering vegetarian burritos with extremely mixed results. We order the vegetable burrito usually with avocado, or sometimes, bean and rice burritos with avocado. Sometimes the burritos are large and well balanced with the correct ingredients and an acceptable amount of avocado, other times the burritos are much smaller, a wildly different price, missing ingredients, having only a tiny cube of avocado or -in some cases- chunks of meat! If you wind up at a truck with an unhelpful and careless team you might wind up regretting it. Like when you bring a several vegetarian bean and rice burritos (that you've been overcharged for in the first place) up to the counter, explain that they had meat in them, show them the large chunks of meat, and their response is to pick over all of the partially eaten food, "fix" only one of them pulling out the pieces of meat, reusing the foil, and then scraping the picked-over contents into a new tortilla, and then use the old foil to merely re-wrap your original food, all the while behaving as though you are inconveniencing them. They saved only a few dollars but lost an entire family of customers that ate there often. There is very little consistency from truck to truck or even at a single truck, in price, ingredients, or customer service. We have driven well out of our way to avoid trucks we've had problems with, only to find that a truck with the team that previously provided good quality and service, now had different people and standards behind the counter. We have had some really amazing and wonderful burritos from them, and also some that were just really awful and upsetting, made worse by appalling customer service. It's sad because we really love some of the more authentic street food flavors available from their food trucks, and we always tip generously because it isn't an easy job and we appreciate good food, but I am going to be actively seeking out other places to order our food from now on because I literally never know what I'm going to get when I order there, and this last situation where they picked through my food and then handed it back to me, was both unsanitary, cheap, and unforgivable treatment of good customers. It's really too bad because the great burritos we've had from them were so good and, while not cheap, they were acceptably priced for good quality - they kept us coming back even though we had some real crummy experiences when something just wasn't right. If they could only offer more consistent quality with better customer service it would only help them to succeed. I am really sad and disappointed that we will not be going back, but I can't believe how they picked through my food. A vegetarian is really not OK with a restaurant that picks the meat off of their vegetarian food, then hands it back to them. I can't imagine that being ok if it were peanuts or allergens or un-kosher or un-halal or whatever. That was the final straw. Adios Tacos California, we are looking for a better burrito. read more

But please give these Chicken Flautas a try! they are deep fried chicken taquitos that lay on top of a delicious tomato sauce and are topped with sour cream, cotija cheese, and finely shredded lettuce. Definitely recommend asking for green or red salsa to dip the flautas in, the red salsa might be to hot for some peoples liking but it's so good. You won't regret giving these flautas a try, I have tried their tacos and tortas and a few other items and they are also amazing. The bites that had a good mix of everything were awesome! The bites lacking meat were good. The portion size... come hungry if you're grabbing a burrito. I'm going to leave it at that.
