Writing this review is literally making my mouth water. My husband and I love Tacos El Caporal. He gets the veggie burrito, I get bean and avocado burrito (yeah, I know it's weird). The prices are excellent - especially for the quantity of food. We are pretty active burrito connoisseurs and this spot is definitely in our top 5 for Butte County. The best tacos in town! Have been going here since we knew they existed. The taco truck is pulled up alongside a remodeled former home in order to accommodate patrons who wish to dine in. The gravel parking lot offers plenty of space for the lunch and dinner rush too. But get there before seven because the truck pulls out and heads home to the fam. Other than the cheap and delicious tacos, they offer quite a big menu selection. The burritos are huge! But my favorite thing about this place is the service. I'm sort of a burrito connoisseur, burrito junky, burrito fein. In my travels as a road warrior, I've eaten burritos from all around the country. And I do have a extremely high expectation on the quality of the food being served to me. A good restuarant has to put plenty of love into their food, for the food to be exceptionally good tasting. A good restuarant do not deviate from how the food taste, good one day and then the next time not so good. A good restuarant has to be constantly, and consistantly delivering great food. So far my favorite Mexican food in Paradise. I think it's kinda cool the way the truck is just pulled up to a building. I'm a big fan of the hot salsa. Being a vegetarian if a Mexican food place doesn't have good salsa and hot sauce then I'm not into it. I have yet to try the mild but I love that the spicy is actually spicy. So the vegetarian burrito is less than $5 and I can't even eat it all at once. The vegetarian tostadas are also a great deal and very yummy. Make sure if you want chips and extra sauce you ask for it. Also throw in a couple quarters for some candy to help the local shelter while you wait for your food. I will be back read more

This is one of the strangest setups I've ever seen, literally a food truck pulled up to a trailer with one of the smaller ends open, the food windows facing into the trailer. Patio table style tables in the trailer. You pick up your food from the window when they call your number, as if these were a picnic table by a food truck- which it is, but indoors (kind of?) In any case, the burrito was exactly what I'd expect from a taco truck. I enjoyed it greatly, it's my fav burrito in Paradise since that one place on lower Skyway closed. Very little reason not to get it to go, but if for some reason you don't want to you can eat there, somewhat protected from the elements although I'm sure it would be cold in the winter/warm in the summer due to how it's set up. I'm sure in the winter it would be much more pleasant to stand in there and wait for your food truck burrito than standing in the rain. I do appreciate the setup for that, but I don't think I would plan on staying there to eat. No booze sold here anyway, I gotta run home and make a Margarita! These guys have the best Mexican food in town - for sure. No matter who is behind the grill, everything is fresh and delicious. I have never had a bad meal there. Now that they have the indoor seating, it's even better! Taco truck pricing - sit down restaurant booths. But these folks went above and beyond for me and my family. While the specifics aren't important, I'll say that it had nothing to do with their actual business. You expect business owners to do their best when they are serving you in that capacity. But this was completely unrelated and they neither asked nor accepted payment for the help. In the course of this project, they helped more than the people the project was intended for. Won't return. Chicken burrito supreme- which husband and I ended up sharing because my food was inedible. Hubby thought the burrito was bland; I thought it was average. Under no circumstances order what the guy at the register calls "carnitas". It's shredded fat with pieces of pork attached. No rendering of the fat through proper cooking or finishing off on the flat top to crisp up. I threw my bowl of pork and fat away. read more

Prices have jumped since two weeks ago and the specials have less tacos. I've had the last two orders to go messed up as well. I always order the small beans and I've come home twice to find rice and beans. Food is still good but I think I am going to check out Fiesta Taco when Amigos de Acapulco isn't open. Finally! I have found a place that doesn't screw with my emotions when I ask for it spicy/hot. I've been here twice now and both times have ordered street tacos, spicy. Both times they were spicy enough to make my nose run - and to top them off, they were delicious!! So much flavor beyond just being spicy. And they give you jalapenos, limes, and chips with salsa on request at no charge. The salsa was delicious! My SO ordered a carne asada burrito and said it was really good! Also, he can't take the heat the way I can and made the mistake of ordering it hot - a grown man crying while eating a burrito is a sight to see. But he tells me they were tears of joy :) read more

Once again this place has been a disappointment. I'm gluten free so for the first time I asked if I could get a couple small corn tortilla quesadillas in place of flour. Once I saw the cook put the pack of flour tortillas on the front counter near the other window I (and the woman taking my order) saw how HUGE they were. No less than 14", of which they take one and fold in half for an order and is usually an inch thick. I commented on this and she knew that two (of their 4") corn tortilla's were not sufficient so she offered three. I was happy with this and said "thank you, that seems fair". As soon as I took my bag I knew something was wrong. It was way too light. Upon inspecting it in my car I found three COLD, open-faced, soft tortillas LOADED with lettuce. There was next to no meat, no guacamole and no, literally no, visible cheese....on a quesadilla. I took them back in thinking I had gotten someone else's order. They proceeded to argue that they were quesadilla's. Um, what? How's that? They then dug their fingers into the lettuce to point out a truly pathetic sprinkling of cheese, so little it had already dried hard. They continued to insist they were quesadilla's and that I just didn't get that I needed to fold the completely un-browned, cold, cheese-lacking tortilla's in half! Jeez, come on! I felt like I was in crazy town. I didn't have the time or energy to continue arguing, or for something else to be prepared incorrectly, so I asked for my money back, which I got. Most of what I've had here has been good tasting, but being gypped because they simply didn't want to add a reasonable amount of cheese and top them each with another cheap tortilla is ridiculous and insulting. In addition, I cannot count how many times I've asked for limes - no limes, paid for a plate of rice - got home and no rice, asked for chips and salsa - no chips or salsa, paid for a plate of beans - got home and no beans. Damn it, really people? They've repeatedly made eating there a hassle and a waste of my time and money. Try the truck down on Skyway near town hall. It's MUCH better in many ways. read more

I love Tacos El Caporal. Definitely one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Paradise. It's an odd setup since the taco truck where they prepare all of the food is parked next to an enclosed building; you order food from the side on the truck while standing inside the building. The business has evolved over the years from your traditional taco truck setup to a "restaurant style" building with indoor/outdoor seating. My favorite thing to order is the Burrito Supreme. The burrito is delicious, full of flavor and very filling. I never leave Tacos El Caporal hungry. The service is also very quick. I never have to wait long for my food. read more

Not the best taco truck in the world but certainly not the worst. Really like the tacos and tortas there. Tostadas are really small (I think I'd have to eat about three to be full) and the burritos are a tad on the bland side. The setup there is kinda cool with the truck being parked right alongside a building so you can eat inside. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a good place to eat in Paradise where as many people know pickings are a bit slim. Definitely has the "in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king" factor going for it since I'm not a fan of Meehos (since they changed ownership), La Comida, or Casa de Paradisio which are your other main Mexican options in town. read more

Best Mexican food in Paradise! Their spicy salsa is amazing (too hot for me but has great flavor)! I will definitely be a repeat customer!
